Employing Probabilistic Dissimilarity for Feature Discovery in a Game of Chess
Abstract. We present the feature discovery technique based on the use of the probabilistic dissimilarity, i.e., a measure of dissimilarity between two probability distributions. Th

Rising temperatures advance the main flight period of Bombus bumblebees in agricultural landscapes of the Central European Plain
Funder: Poznan University of Life SciencesAbstractThis study examined shifts over a 35-year period in the phenology of the four most important bumblebee species (Bombus terrestris, B. lapidarius, B. pascuorum and B. hortorum) in Central Europe. The species showed similar temporal trends, significantly advancing components of their main flight period in association with rising temperatures such that, for example, mid-dates of the main flight period advanced by 10–23 days over the study period. Drivers of this change differed between the four species. Trends in, and drivers of, the timing of first queens, first workers and first males were less consistent. Aspects of the phenology of the least common species, B. hortorum, were up to a month earlier than the other species and climatic effects less clear cut. There were some suggestions of differences between species trends. These results stress the importance of considering changes and drivers of change for the Bombus family on a species-specific basis with the need to pay more attention to the life history traits of the study organisms.</jats:p
Ekstrasystolia z drogi odpływu prawej komory w standardowym elektrokardiogramie oraz w elektrokardiografii wysokiej rozdzielczości sygnałowej
Wstęp: Elektrokardiografia wysokiej rozdzielczości sygnałowej (EKG-CREM) jest nową, obiecującą
metodą badań w diagnostyce kardiologicznej. Procedura ta powstała na bazie cyfrowej
elektrokardiografii. Jej istotą jest zwiększenie rozdzielczości, udoskonalenie, a w konsekwencji
znaczne rozszerzenie możliwości diagnostycznych standardowego EKG. Dzięki temu stało się
możliwe wykrywanie niewidocznych w standardowym EKG stosunkowo niewielkich zmian
w aktywności elektrycznej poszczególnych fragmentów mięśnia sercowego. Dla ułatwienia interpretacji
zapisów EKG-CREM wykorzystano technikę wektokardiografii. W badaniu są oceniane
takie fragmenty serca, jak: ściana przednia (SP), ściana tylna (ST), ściana boczna (SB) oraz
ściana dolna (SD), Ponadto w EKG-CREM są opisywane przyprzegrodowe fragmenty mięśnia
sercowego: fragment pośrednio-przedni (FPA), fragment pośrednio-tylny (FPB) i fragment
tylno-dolny (LOT). Dzięki temu można dokładniej ocenić aktywności elektryczne w porównaniu
z EKG. Celem niniejszej pracy była ocena punktu wyjścia arytmii komorowej w postaci dodatkowych
skurczów komorowych w badaniu EKG-CREM.
Metody: Badania przeprowadzono u 26 pacjentów (16 kobiet, 10 mężczyzn), u których
w przynajmniej 6-miesięcznej obserwacji stwierdzano permanentne występowanie przedwczesnych
pobudzeń komorowych (VPCs). U chorych wykonano standardowe badanie elektrokardiograficzne
(EKG-STAND) i wysokiej rozdzielczości (EKG-CREM). Porównywano punkt
wyjścia arytmii w obu metodach.
Wyniki: U wszystkich pacjentów w badaniu holterowskim stwierdzono monomorficzne dodatkowe
w strefie drogi odpływu prawej komory: pośrednio-dolnej (nr 8: 30,7%), przednio-dolnej (nr 9:
23,0%), pośrednio-pośredniej (nr 5: 23,0%), najrzadziej zaś w punktach: 1 - strefa tylnogórna,
3 - strefa przednio-górna, 7 - strefa tylno-dolna (po 7,6%). W EKG-CREM
pośrednio-przednia (FPA) i strefa tylna (ST); wystąpiły one u 2 pacjentów (13,3% badanych).
Ostatnimi pobudzanymi strefami były: przednia (SP) i dolno-tylna (LOT); występowały one
u pojedynczych pacjentów, stanowiąc 6,6% całej badanej grupy.
Wnioski: Całość analizy pozwala stwierdzić, że istnieje pewna korelacja lokalizacji ogniska
arytmogennego w badaniach EKG-STAND i EKG-CREM, ale wymaga to przeprowadzenia
dalszych badań obejmujących większą grupę pacjentów
The role of systemic therapies of non-small cell lung cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma: updated expert recommendations
Rak płuca jest w Polsce najczęstszą przyczyną zgonów nowotworowych. Około 85% wszystkich nowotworów płuca stanowi rak niedrobnokomórkowy (NDRP), w którym leki cytotoksyczne i ukierunkowane molekularnie odgrywają coraz większą rolę. W pracy przedstawiono oparte na obecnej wiedzy zalecenia dotyczące stosowania tych metod w praktyce klinicznej u chorych na NDRP oraz na złośliwego międzybłoniaka opłucnej.Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death in Poland. About 85% of all lung cancer constitutes non-small cancer (NSCLC), in which the role of cytotoxic and molecularly targeted drugs is increasing. This article presents the current evidence-based recommendations for the use of these methods in clinical practice in NSCLC and malignant pleural mesothelioma
