The problem of middle income trap in the context of the Polish economy
Middle income trap is a phenomenon that occurs at the time of entry of the economy in the cycle of overheating, which in turn leads to economic stagnation or even recession in developing countries. This phenomenon is most common among the developing countries aspiring to catch up with developed countries in economic development. The purpose of this article is to analyze the degree of risk of the Polish economy of middle income trap. Furthermore, in the article it has been indicated action of the economic authorities in Poland, which are unavoidable in order not to fall into middle income trap. To achieve this objective the following research methods were used: a review of the scientific literature and methods of statistical presentation of economic phenomena. The paper identified a number of factors which pose a real threat of falling into the middle income trap in Poland. The originality of this study lies in noticing and highlighting the significance of the middle income trap problem for the Polish economy
Big Data and Data Analytics for Enhanced Decision-Making in the Public Sector
Big Data and Data Analytics (BDA) has the potential to enhance the government sector by providing a better understanding of current challenges, external environment, and citizens\u27 needs to assist with effective design and implementation of policies and services. Although BDA can bring enormous benefits, organisations are finding it challenging to realise the true potential of data. The focus of the paper is on studying the effect of organisational maturity in effective application of BDA in the public sector. Drawing from theories of policymaking and information systems, the study treats BDA as a complex phenomenon from the social-technical perspective. The contribution of this study is to provide an initial understanding of how BDA can be applied more effectively to enhance decision-making across a range of public sector areas
Big Data and Data Analytics in Managing the COVID-19 Pandemic
Big data and data analytics (BDA) have the potential to transform the public sector by providing a coordinated response to the COVID-19 pandemic and protecting the wellbeing of the people. Despite BDA’s promising potential, agencies need to be aware that achieving a significant impact through BDA is not always guaranteed. Although it is essential to understand how organisations can harness the power of BDA that is used in policy-decision making, treatment and controlling of the pandemic, there is no widely accepted model that links BDA capabilities for enhanced management of public health emergencies. The focus of the paper is to address this gap. The research focuses on analysing how the public sector utilised BDA and acquired critical capabilities to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. The contribution of this study is to provide a framework for successful BDA application and extend the existing data readiness theory

A Theoretical Framework For Understanding Aesthetic Experiences In Relation To Website Design And Utilitarian Outcomes
Online affective experiences and their relationships to utilitarian and non-utilitarian outcomes are of growing interest. This study investigates one affective experience – aesthetics – and its impact on online utilitarian values. As the concept of web aesthetic experience has not been well studied or understood, this study proposes a novel theoretical model connecting web aesthetic experiences to online utilitarian values. Based on the prior literature from other disciplines, the study treats the aesthetic experience as a complex and multi-dimensional construct, which contains three distinct sub-dimensions: aesthetic appraisal, aesthetic judgment, and aesthetic emotion. The research process will include making the selection of diverse level of aesthetic websites and a cross-over design experiment. The structural equation modelling technique will be employed to evaluate the relationships between the web aesthetic experience and utilitarian outcome. The expected contributions of this study are: (i) to construct a novel theoretical model based on the psychological and philosophical concepts of aesthetic experience and utilitarian value; (ii) to identify the multi-dimensional evidence of web aesthetic experiences; (iii) to provide theoretical and practical knowledge for predicting the utilitarian outcomes through online users’ aesthetic experiences. The study also points to the need for more research in this complex area
