ATM Technology and Banking System in West African Sub-Region: Prospects and Challenges
Automated Teller Machine (ATM) technology has had its significant impactin banking system in Nigeria and some other West African Countries. Themost significant impact of ATM technology is the customer’s ability towithdraw money outside banking hours. But this feat achieved by ATMtechnology is not without challenges. ATM technology is prone to fraud, andthis has made many people shun its use. In view of the above, this paperexplores the prospects and challenges of ATM application in banking in WestAfrican sub region and how the challenges posed by its use can be removedor minimized. Keywords: ATM, Technology, Prospects and Challenges
Modelling of web-based virtual university administration for Nigerian universities
This research work focused on development of a model of web based virtual University Administration for Nigerian universities. This is necessary as there is still a noticeable administrative constraint in our Universities, the establishment of many University Web portals notwithstanding. More efforts are therefore needed to enhance or improve on the software that drives these portals to make them more efficient and render real time services. The model enables members of academic community to set up curriculum, register students and staff, enter exam scores, post news, view results, pay school fees, request for transcripts, obtain vital information from the university and update information on daily basis. The model has a watch-dog monitor called Web Patrol that monitors and keeps a log of the transactions by students and staff. The methodologies adopted for this work are top-down, prototyping and Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM). This research work helps in bringing university administrative products and services to the door steps of people, thereby reducing administrative bottleneck witnessed in our universities today. It generates results and transcripts, thereby solving the current problems of delay in result and transcript processing and transfer in our universities
Application of the Erbium : YAG Laser to Cavity preparation for Cast Metal Inlay Restoration
Recently, an Er : YAG laser has been developed for dental hard tissue cutting. This laser has been usually used for cavity preparation of composite resin restorations, but not for cast metal inlays, because it is difficult to create a cavity form which ensures retention form and convenience form. An experimental chisel shaped contact tip for use in cavity preparation for cast metal inlays was developed. This tip has specified irradiation energy distribution characteristic and the usefulness of this tip in inlay cavity reparation was examined. The tooth cutting efficiency was determined in extracted human and bovine teeth, and the irradiated sites were observed with SEM. The experimental tip cuts dentin as well as conventional tips while enamel cutting is poorer than with the conventional tip. It was possible to obtain flat properly inclined dentin walls in the cavity preparation. It is suggested that inlay cavity preparation is possible using the experimental chisel shaped contact tip
Gendered Orality: Women's Mediation of Pidgin and the Body in Saturday Night at the Pahala Theater
The difference between the Local and the non-Local is often deceivingly clear-cut-the 17- year-old Filipino Farrington High School student: Local. The haole military family from Iowa stationed at Schofield: non-Local. Definitely. In a deeper analysis of the status of being Local, however, gray areas appear. Factors other than the knowledge of things Local delineate the difference between "insiders" and "outsiders" in Hawai'i. Indeed, Barry Masuda, a resident of Hawai'i for "twenty-two years[s], two month[s]" (81) freely admits his doubts about his own status: "I'm probably not a 'real Local'" (81)
