Background. Recently, in the Russian Federation, there has been a tendency to an increase in the number of registered cases of dirofilariasis among residents living in a temperate climate zone, including in Western Siberia. The species Dirofilaria repens and Dirofilaria immitis are of clinical importance for humans. Dirofilariae are characterized by migration into the subcutaneous tissue, mucous membranes, organs of vision, internal organs. In the Omsk region, there is an increase in cases of dirofilariasis, including among children. The aim. To assess endemicity of the territory of the Omsk region in relation to pathogens of dirofilariasis.Materials and methods. The maps of the epidemiological survey of persons infected with dirofilariae for the period 2013–2020 were analyzed, parasitological and molecular biological methods examined 1155 blood samples of dogs, 2488 samples female blood-sucking mosquitoes, 26 samples of dirofilaria helminths removed from residents of the Omsk region.Results. In 18 people, the infection was regarded as local, since the infected persons had not left the Omsk region for the previous three years. Local infections are reported annually. Infection of the final owners – dogs – with dirofilaria ranges from 0.6 to 4.8 % in different years. On average, the extensiveness of the invasion was 3.0 ± 0.6 %; and the intensity of microfilaremia was 1277.68 ± 395.87 specimens/ml of blood. On the territory of Omsk and the Omsk region, 11 species of mosquitoes belonging to the genus Aedes, Ochlerotatus, Culex, Anopheles, Coquillettidia were identified. The estimated individual infection of mosquitoes of different species ranged from 0.6 % (O. flavescens) to 9.8 % (An. messeae). The total infection of vectors was 3.4 %. All positive samples were found to contain DNA of D. repens.Conclusion. The territory of the Omsk region is endemic for pathogens of dirofilariasis, in particular, D. repens. Further studies are needed to study the prevalence and species diversity of pathogens of dirofilariasis in Western Siberia, to identify the most dangerous from an epidemiological point of view, species of vectors

The objective of the present study was to assess the level of 26 cytokines secreted by peripheral blood cells of the patients with liver cirrhosis (LC; n = 20) during the cell therapy (CT). All the patients were administered with intravenously injected autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (MNCs) in a dose of 1.3±0.3 × 109 (Ме 1.0 × 109 ) followed by 14 days later intravenous injection of ex vivo generated mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) in a dose of 22.3±5.0 × 106 (Ме 16.0 × 106 ). The patients were examined before the CT, 2-3 days after the administration of MNCs and, then, 2-3 days after the introduction of MSCs. Cytokine-secretory function of peripheral blood cells was evaluated in a 24-hour whole blood cultures both in the absence of any stimulation and in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The control group consisted of 10 healthy donors. The administration of patients’ bone marrow cells (both MNCs and MSC) was safe and well tolerated and caused no any adverse (toxic or allergic) events. Compared with donors, LC patients (especially, with class B+C by Child-Pugh) differed by an initially increased production of several cytokines and chemokines. Actually, there was a statistically significant increase of the spontaneous production of IL-9, MIP-1β, and IP-10, as well as a distinct trend to an increase in TNFα, IL-1ra, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-13, of MCP-1, MIP-1α, RANTES and Eotaxin. Moreover, the blood cells of LC patients were susceptible to the stimulatory effect of LPS, and the LPS-induced production of 11 out of 26 cytokines (IL-1ra, IL-6, IL-9, IL-15, IL-17, IL-7, IL-8, IP-10, MIP-1α, MIP-1β, Eotaxin) significantly exceeded the normative values. Transplantation of bone marrow MNCs had minimal impact on cytokine production. Meanwhile, the MSCs introduction resulted in a significant decrease in spontaneous and LPS-induced production of, respectively, 20 and 18 analytes including pro-/anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory cytokines, chemokines and growth factors. The normalization of cytokine-secretory function following transplantation of MSCs revealed in the patients with LC indicates the weakening of an inflammatory activity of circulating blood cells and the decrease in their reactivity to endotoxin. MSC suppressive effect on cytokine production was dose-dependent, and most pronounced in patients with decompensated LC (class B+C by Child-Pugh) of viral etiology

Using the inclusive photon spectrum based on a data sample collected at the J/ψJ/\psi peak with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+ee^+e^- collider, we measured the rate of the radiative decay J/ψγηcJ/\psi\to\gamma\eta_{\rm c} as well as ηc\eta_{\rm c} mass and width. Taking into account an asymmetric photon lineshape we obtained Γγηc0=2.98±0.180.33+0.15\Gamma^0_{\gamma\eta_{\rm c}}=2.98\pm0.18 \phantom{|}^{+0.15}_{-0.33} keV, Mηc=2983.5±1.43.6+1.6M_{\eta_{\rm c}} = 2983.5 \pm 1.4 \phantom{|}^{+1.6}_{-3.6} MeV/c2c^2, Γηc=27.2±3.12.6+5.4\Gamma_{\eta_{\rm c}} = 27.2 \pm 3.1 \phantom{|}^{+5.4}_{-2.6} MeV.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

Thyrotoxicosis, which characteristics are increased excitability, emotional lability, tachycardia episodes, increasing of free fractions of tetraiodothyronine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) is one of the most common endocrinological syndromes. However, during the interpretation of thyroid status it is very important to take into account the possibility that a patient has TSH-secreting pituitary adenoma. Timely diagnosis of TSH-secreting adenomas plays prominent role in guiding the treatment course since it is associated with an improvement of long-term prognosis and an increase of the patient’s total life expectancy. Needed to underline that in some patients with TSH-secreting adenomas manifestations of the other pituitary hormones hypersecretion (first of all — somatotropin and prolactin) come to the fore, that lead to the development of acromegaly and hyperprolactinemia accordingly. Our work basing on two clinical cases presents main principles of diagnosis and specific clinical manifestations of TSH-secreting pituitary adenomas and demonstrates efficacy of somatostatin analogues in the treatment of this pathology

We present a study of the inclusive photon spectrum from 6.3 million J/psi decays collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+e- collider. We measure the branching fraction of the radiative decay J/psi -> eta_c gamma, eta_c width and mass. Taking into account an asymmetric photon line shape we obtain: M(eta_c) = (2978.1 +- 1.4 +- 2.0) MeV/c^2, Gamma(eta_c) = (43.5 +- 5.4 +- 15.8) MeV, B(J/psi->eta_c gamma) = (2.59 +- 0.16 +- 0.31)%$.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figure. Precise measurement of RudsR_{\text{uds}} and RR between 1.84 and 3.72 GeV at the KEDR detector

The present work continues a series of the KEDR measurements of the RR value that started in 2010 at the VEPP-4M e+ee^+e^- collider. By combining new data with our previous results in this energy range we measured the values of RudsR_{\text{uds}} and RR at nine center-of-mass energies between 3.08 and 3.72 GeV. The total accuracy is about or better than 2.6%2.6\% at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of about 1.9%1.9\%. Together with the previous precise RR measurement at KEDR in the energy range 1.84-3.05 GeV, it constitutes the most detailed high-precision RR measurement near the charmonium production threshold.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1610.02827 and substantial text overlap with arXiv:1510.0266

The product of the electronic width of the J/ψJ/\psi meson and the branching fractions of its decay to hadrons and electrons has been measured using the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+ee^+e^- collider. The obtained values are: Γee(J/ψ)=5.550±0.056±0.089keV,\Gamma_{ee}(J/\psi) = 5.550 \pm 0.056 \pm 0.089 \, \text{keV}, Γee(J/ψ)Bhadrons(J/ψ)=4.884±0.048±0.078keV,\Gamma_{ee}(J/\psi) \cdot \mathcal{B}_\text{hadrons}(J/\psi) = 4.884 \pm 0.048 \pm 0.078 \, \text{keV}, Γee(J/ψ)Bee(J/ψ)=0.3331±0.0066±0.0040keV.\Gamma_{ee}(J/\psi) \cdot \mathcal{B}_{ee}(J/\psi) = 0.3331 \pm 0.0066 \pm 0.0040 \, \text{keV}. The uncertainties shown are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the result presented and the world-average value of the electronic branching fraction, one obtains the total width of the J/ψJ/\psi meson: Γ=92.94±1.83keV.\Gamma = 92.94 \pm 1.83 \, \text{keV}. These results are consistent with the previous experiments.Comment: 19 pages, 13 figure
