Genetic factors of hypertension in individuals with different rates of Na-Li counter -transport

    Get PDF
Currently, hypertension is recognized as one of the most common cardio-vascular diseases. Recent studies indicate the multifactorial nature of this disease, in which much emphasis is given to genetic factors for their role in the development of this disease. With, results based on the identification of genetic markers associated with the risk of developing hypertension vary vastly and remain highly controversial, primarily due to the ethno-genetic and geographical features of the populations under study, there is an urgent need to identify a phenotypic trait that would allow analysis of associations with the risk of developing hypertension irrespective of an individual's ethnic background or geographical location. One such a prospective trait is the rate of Na-Li counter-transport, which remains unchanged for most of an individual's lifetime, with rare exceptions. Hence this study is aimed at identifying the contribution of gene polymorphisms of the renin-angiotensin system in the formation of genetic predisposition to hypertension in individuals with different rates of erythrocyte Na-Li counter-transport

LEVEL OF ILLUMINATION OF TREES CROWN IN APPLE ORCHARDS DEPENDING ON THE TERM OF PRUNING

    Get PDF
The article presents the results of research as to the influence of contour pruning on the illumination of parts of the crown of apple cvs. Wilmuta (Jonagold), Gala and Golden Delicious on M.9 rootstock (with manual correction of the space between trees). The illumination of trees is growing with the height increase; however the greatest value is detected at the top of the crown. The index is considerably larger in the case of contour pruning in the phase of a pink bud and the greatest influence on its change is caused by the action of the term of prunin

The state of lipoperoxidation processes in boys with obesity

    Get PDF
The problem of obesity is extremely relevant for modern medical science and healthcare, and child and adolescent obesity deserves special attention. It seems to be interesting to trace the interrelation of pathological processes in obesity in the form of metabolic disorders at the level of the organism and at the cell level - disorders in the system of lipid peroxidation. Studies in adolescent boys are relevant, as there has been a general increase in the incidence in this age category. The purpose of the research was to study the state of the system "lipid peroxidation - antioxidant protection" in adolescent boys with exogenous-constitutional obesity. 19 adolescent boys with obesity were examined in comparison with the control group. Spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods of examination were used. An increase in the level of secondary lipid peroxidation products - ketodienes and conjugated trienes (1.65 times) - was revealed in adolescent boys with obesity. In the antioxidant defense system, differences in this group included reduced values of α-tocopherol (1.42 times), retinol (1.51 times) and superoxide dismutase activity (1.19 times), in the absence of statistically significant changes in the total antioxidant activity (AOA) in blood and components of glutathione status. The revealed disorders allow to recommend the complex therapy including prescription of antioxidants and medicines directed on normalization of lipid exchange at the given category of patients

Polymorphism of the CETP gene promoter region and its influence on protein activity in coronary heart disease

    Get PDF
The paper shows the lack of association of two polymorphic loci localized in the promoter region of the gene CETP (rs180077S and rs4783961) with the risk of coronary heart disease in the population of the Republic of Tatarstan. Also, there are no differences in the activity of the enzyme among the carriers of different genotypes

How rheumatoid arthritis can result from provocation of the immune system by microorganisms and viruses

© 2016 Arleevskaya, Kravtsova, Lemerle, Renaudineau and Tsibulkin. The pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), similar to development of a majority of inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, is largely due to an inappropriate or inadequate immune response to environmental challenges. Among these challenges, infectious agents are the undisputed leaders. Since the 1870s, an impressive list of microorganisms suspected of provoking RA has formed, and the list is still growing. Although a definite causative link between a specific infectious agent and the disease has not been established, several arguments support such a possibility. First, in the absence of a defined pathogen, the spectrum of triggering agents may include polymicrobial communities or the cumulative effect of several bacterial/viral factors. Second, the range of infectious episodes (i.e., clinical manifestations caused by pathogens) may vary in the process of RA development from preclinical to late-stage disease. Third, infectious agents might not trigger RA in all cases, but trigger it in a certain subset of the cases, or the disease onset may arise from an unfortunate combination of infections along with, for example, psychological stress and/or chronic joint tissue microtrauma. Fourth, genetic differences may have a role in the disease onset. In this review, two aspects of the problem of "microorganisms and RA" are debated. First, is there an acquired immune deficiency and, in turn, susceptibility to infections in RA patients due to the too frequent and too lengthy infections, which at last break the tolerance of self antigens? Or, second, is there a congenital deficiency in tolerance and inflammation control, which may occur even with ordinary infection frequency and duration?

The association study of antioxidant status and antioxidant genes polymorphisms in patients with ischemic heart disease in the Republic of Tatarstan

Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is a multifactorial disease caused by the interplay of environmental risk factors with multiple predisposing genes. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the role of genetic polymorphism, oxidative stress and antioxidant status in IHD patients. IHD patients are characterized by a change of the blood serum's antioxidant status, which is expressed in significant increases/decreases of the total antioxidant activity, lipid hydroperoxides and ceruloplasmin indicators in comparison with normal values and also in significant increases of the malondialdehyde for the patients with acute myocardial infarction. This study also showed that the level of some of the examined antioxidant system indicators depends on polymorphism of the genes, which encode the enzymatic antioxidant system pool (genes of catalase, extracellular and mitochondrial superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase). © IDOSI Publications, 2013

SPECIATION FEATURES OF GOLD IN ORES AND MINERALS OF THE NATALKINSKOE DEPOSIT (NORTH-EAST RUSSIA)

    Get PDF
The distribution and speciation features of gold in ores and minerals of the Natalkinskoe gold deposit (North-East Russia) are studied using light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (SEM-EDX), X-ray electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), "phase" chemical analysis with atomic absorption spectrometry (PCA-AAS) and atomic absorption spectrometry with analytical data selections for single crystals (AAS-ADSSC). The vein and streaky-vein ores are high-grade ores, whereas veinlet-disseminated ores are less rich and disseminated ores are poor in gold. Up to 85 % of the gold in the ores is in a free native state, associated with quartz and sulfide minerals. LM, SEM-EDX and EPMA reveal that the predominant gold grains are 0.01 to 2.00 mm in size and at a fineness of 720 to 900 ‰. The finely dispersed and submicron elemental gold particles (Au0) amounted to 20 % and are mainly enclosed into arsenopyrite and pyrite. According to PCA-AAS data, the highest Au concentrations (up to 1383 ppm) are recorded in arsenopyrite; lower contents are typical of pyrite (up to 158.2 ppm). In these sulfides, two non-mineral species of "invisible" Au are the structurally bound and surface-bound species recognized by AAS-ADSSC. The structural Au is included in the mineral structure. The surface-bounded Au prevails and is confined to nano-sized, non-autonomous phases (NAPs) on the sulfide surface. In common with "invisible" Au, the micro-sized particles of native gold are often observed on the surface and within the surface layers of sulfide crystals. This is consistent with the model of post-growth transformations of nano-sized NAPs, resulting in the formation of nano and micro-sized Au0 particles. It is expected that the major part of gold contained in arsenopyrite and pyrite as finely dispersed and submicron particles, as well as the surface-bound gold in NAPs, can be won with modified current schemes of gold concentration, which enhances the value of the gold ore mining

HORMONEMEDIATED REGULATION OF CYTOKINES IN PATIENTS WITH ADENOMYOSIS AND UNSUCCESSFUL IVF ATTEMPTS

Aim. The study was to evaluate the effect of cytokine dysfunctions on the endometrial implantation potential in patients with adenomyosis and unsuccessful IVF attempts and the possibility of hormone-mediated regulation of the cytokine balance at the pre-gravitational stage. Materials and methods. The study included 90 patients with infertility, an unsuccessful attempt of IVF in the history and diffuse adenomyosis of 1 or 2 degrees. Patients were randomized into two groups: the 1st group consisted of 44 patients (group 1) − no pre-education training was conducted. The second group − 46 patients − pregravid preparation of dienogest (2 mg daily for 3 months before the IVF cycle). Control group (group 3) − 30 healthy fertile women. To assess the implantation potential of the endometrium, initially, and after pre-gravity training, the concentration of LIF, IL1в, IL-6, IL-10, RAIL in cervical mucus was determined.Results. Analysis of the indices in patients with adenomyosis showed a decrease in their implantation potential of the endometrium. It has been revealed that hormone-modulating therapy with dienogest partially neutralizes cytokine regulation defects and leads to a certain increase in the effectiveness of IVF programs.Conclusion. Shows expediency of including dienogest in the pregravide preparation plan for patients with adenomyosis, but for full immunocorrection in pregravidual training in women with adenomyosis 1 and 2 The degree of additional directional immunotropic therapy is probably necessary
