    THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EXTENSIVE READING APPROACH TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION

    This research entitled the effectiveness of extensive reading approach has a purpose to figure out the effectiveness of extensive reading approach to improve students’ reading comprehension. The subject of this research is students of SMK Al-Irsyad Cipanas. The sample of this research consists 20 of the eleventh grade students of AP class. The research uses quantitative research, or more specifically the one group pre-test post-test design as research design. To collect the data, this research applies pre-test and post-test as the instrument. The result of data is obtained by using t-test formula.  The result showed that students who learning using extensive reading approach had better reading ability to comprehend the text. The result of tobs is 2.08, the ttable with degrees of freedom (df) 19 and level of significance at 0.05 was 1,72. Based on the data analysis, the alternative hypothesis in this research was accepted because tobs is higher than ttable (2.08 > 1.72). Based on the data analysis, it is found that the test is reliable. The findings indicated that learning using extensive reading approach is significantly affected the students’ reading comprehension. Therefore, the extensive reading is suitable for improving students’ reading comprehension and it is also a strategy that can be used by teacher for making learning process to be more effective

    Mindful Parenting and Anxiety in Full-time Working Mothers

    Full-time working mothers face numerous challenges that can lead to anxiety. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between mindful parenting and anxiety among full-time working mothers. The participants in this study consisted of 99 mothers engaged in full-time employment. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Mindful Parenting Scale and the Anxiety Scale from the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS). Data were analyzed using product-moment correlation analysis. The results of the data analysis showed a correlation (rxy) = -0.210 with p < 0.050. This result indicates a negative correlation between mindful parenting and anxiety among full-time working mothers, meaning that higher level of mindful parenting is associated with lower level of anxiety. Conversely, lower level of mindful parenting is associated with higher level of anxiety. Therefore, it is recommended to provide intervention to enhance mindful parenting among working mothers to help reduce their anxiety. Ibu yang bekerja penuh waktu mengalami banyak tantangan yang dapat menyebabkan kecemasan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji hubungan antara mindful parenting dengan kecemasan pada ibu yang bekerja penuh waktu.  Partisipan dalam penelitian ini yaitu sejumlah 99 ibu yang menjalani pekerjaan penuh waktu. Teknik sampling yang digunakan yaitu convenience sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan skala mindful parenting dan skala kecemasan dari Depression, Anxiety, and Stres Scale (DASS). Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis korelasi product moment. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi (rxy) = -0,210 dengan p < 0,050. Hasil ini mengindikasikan adanya korelasi negatif antara mindful parenting dan kecemasan pada ibu yang bekerja penuh waktu, artinya semakin tinggi mindful parenting maka semakin rendah kecemasan. Sebaliknya, semakin rendah mindful parenting maka semakin tinggi kecemasan. Dengan demikian, disarankan pemberian intervensi untuk meningkatkan mindful parenting pada ibu bekerja untuk dapat membantu mengurangi kecemasannya

    Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang cukup tentang penggunaan obat analgetik selama masa kehamilan yaitu sebanyak 24 responden (43,6%), sebagian besar responden memiliki sikap yang positif tentang penggunaan obat analgetik selama masa kehamilan yaitu sebanyak 43 responden (78,2%) dan sebagian besar responden memiliki tindakan yang baik tentang penggunaan obat analgetik selama masa kehamilan yaitu sebanyak 46 responden (83,6%

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui indikator-indikator pada kompetensi dasar yang dikembangkan oleh guru sudah mencapai standar kurikulum dan untuk mengetahui kompetensi psikomotorik (KD.4) pada pembelajaran biologi kelas XI SMA yang dikembangkan oleh guru pada masa pandemi terlaksana. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Instrument penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen angket yang disebar pada siswa kelas 11 SMA dan Guru Biologi kelas XI SMA. Instrument ini menggunakan skala guttman yang telah melalui validasi ahli oleh 2 orang dosen ahli. Subjek penelitian adalah 5 orang guru dan 319 orang siswa dari 3 sekolah yang berbeda yaitu SMAN 9 Makassar, SMAN 11 Makassar dan SMAS Bosowa School Makassar. Teknik Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan siswa dan guru masing-masing mengisi angket yang telah dibuat dalam bantuk form online, dokumentasi dan wawancara, data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Hanya terdapat 3 orang guru biologi yang mengembangkan indikator mencapai standar kurikulum dan 2 guru lainnya tidak mencapai standar kurikulum yaitu SMAN 9 Makassar dan SMAS Bosowa School Makassar. Tidak semua indikator yang dikembangkan oleh guru terlaksana, rata-rata persentase keterlaksanaan berada pada rentang 40% ≤X ≤60% yang dapat dikategorikan sebagai cukup terlaksana

    Reproductive Health Knowledge of Undergraduate Students in the Department of Biology Universitas Negeri Makassar

    Reproductive health is not only refers to the absence of disease related to reproductive system, but it also refers to a complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Promoting adolescents’ knowledge on reproductive health is deemed important, as adolescence is an age group which is still vulnerable to various reproductive and sexual problems. The understanding of reproductive health for adolescents can help to protect them from risky sexual behavior which can affect their sexual health, such as unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassar supports the efforts to increase knowledge of reproductive health in the community, especially through educational programs that prepare undergraduate students as the future biology teachers with adequate knowledge of reproductive health. Accordingly, this study is conducted to assess reproductive health knowledge of second year undergraduate students in Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassar. The study population was students of class 2019 in the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassar. A total of 54 second year students in Biology department participated in this study by responding to an online Reproductive Health Questionnaire. The data obtained from the questionnaire were categorized into three groups based on Arikunto (2006) knowledge grouping categories. It is found that many participants in this study have the knowledge of reproductive health in the low (57.4%) and moderate (40.7%) category. Only 1.9% of respondents in this study had knowledge in the high category
