USE OF FISH OIL AS SUPPLEMENT TO RICE FLOUR FOR CHILDREN
Fish oil is a source of omega 3 fatty acids, especially DHA and EPA having health benefits, such as prevention of heart disease and improvement of brain development including vision. However, these components are susceptible to oxidative damage and its fishy smell may affect consumer acceptance. This study aimed to immobilize this oil in rice flour usually prepared for "sumsum" porridge, a traditional meals for children or mother. Some of type of polymer are mixture with oil and was sprayed on to the rice flour to ensure the oils were coated with these polymer. Hedonic test of "sumsum" porridge was performed for acceptability for 4% fish oil and 4% equal weight of polymer malto-dextrin and soy flour. The nutrient contents were also presented. The nutrient content of the sample could be use as food supplement for under-five year children and his mother. Keywords: fish oil, applement, omega 3 fatty acids
SEAWEED AS MICRONUTRIENTS INGREDIENT FOR FOOD SUPPLEMENT
In some part of Indonesia seaweed has been used as vegetables dish. The most important component of seaweed isiodine and iron. Gracillariasp is one species of seaweed that can be used as a source of the mikronutrients such as iron, iodine and calcium. Iron Deficiency Anemia and Iodine Deficiency Disorder can cause several diseases also known low haemoglobin level and iodine level in the blood. This preparation of Gracillariasp could supplement micro-nutrients in the diet. This study was to develop appropriate local technology of Gracillariaspcontainedas an ingredient in the making of food supplement for imorovement of micronutrients intake. The experimental study uses optimum formulated comosition from seaweed.Based on the practical in the area (Bali), the formula of seaweed compose of seaweed of Gracillaria with additional of 20 % salty fish extract, 5 % dextrin. The seaweeds contains high of carbohydrate, iodine, calcium and iron but low in protein and lipid. Appropriate technology of dried seaweed supplement could be prepared at home. Theseseaweed supplements could be advocated in rural arealevel or posyandufor combating under nutrition status of the children. The formula of direct seaweed inclusion inthe supplement is preferred due to green colour and acceptable taste compared to dried seaweed. The serving sice of 25 g of this product could be cover children’s need about 23 % in iodine, 100 % in iron and 22- 35 % in calcium. Keywords: seaweed, Gracillariasp, iodine, iron, food supplement
Optimasi Formula Mikroenkapsulasi Ekstrak Rimpang Temulawak (Curcuma Xanthorrhiza Roxb.) Dengan Penyalut Berbasis Air
Java turmeric (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) is a native plant of Indonesia which has been proved as anti-inflamation, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antitumor, hepatoprotective and antihyperlipidemic agent. The bitter taste with pungent aroma of java turmeric, improper storage that decreasing essential oil and curcuminoid level can be prevented by coating java turmeric as microcapsule. Recently, many microcapsule formulation is made based on organic solvent which have high risk on toxicity and also flammable. The study aimed to produce microcapsule using water based coating material from mixture of tapioca starch and carboxymethylceIlulose (CMC). There are 3 formulas of coating material that were used in this study, with proportion (w/v) of tapioca starch and CMC in formula I (3% : 1 %), formula II (2% : 2 %), and formula III (1% : 3%). The results showed that microcapsule with coating material made from formula III was the best, regarding to the measurements of physical parameter (recovery, water content, absorption efficiency, flow rate and particle size) and chemical parameter (curcumin content) compared to formula I and II. The higher CMC concentration on coating material compotition, the better microcapsule will be produced
GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ RESEARCH PROPOSAL WRITING
The paper investigated common grammatical errors produced by Indonesian university students of English as a foreign language when writing their undergraduate research proposals. Accordingly, an urgent research question to resolve was what common grammatical errors are made by the seventh semester students of the English Language Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University in writing Chapter One of their research proposals? To answer the research question, the researchers conducted a content analysis. The researchers analysed students’ research proposals, focusing on grammatical issues identified in the first chapter. Results showed that the errors were omission (content and grammatical morpheme), addition (double marking, regularization, and simple addition), misinformation (regularization errors, archi-forms, and alternating forms), misordering, parallelism and diction. The top three errors were successively omission (38.15 per cent), addition (21.97 per cent) and parallelism (18.5 per cent)
Workshop on Environmental Compassion and Energy-Saving Character Development
The cultivation of strong character in schools can be achieved through character education. One promising approach to cultivating a deep affection for the environment is through the Workshop on Environmental Compassion and Energy Savings Character Development. Hence, it is essential to educate individuals about the implementation of the 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle) principles and minimize energy when utilizing electronic devices in households and schools. By nurturing a foundational awareness of energy conservation and environmental consciousness at Bruder Melati Pontianak Elementary School, it is expected that the teachers will be able to impart this knowledge. Through the implementation of dissemination, school citizens gain a greater comprehension and consciousness of the 4R movement and the more prudent utilization of electricity by 94.4%. Furthermore, they acquire fresh perspectives concerning the energy-saving patterns of daily electrical energy use, thereby contributing to the betterment of society as a whole
Transformer Oil Quality Monitoring Towards Degradation of Insulation Breakdown Voltage
The transformer is one of the critical pieces of equipment for distributing electrical energy from the generator connected to the transmission to the consumer of Diesel and Gas Power Generation Service Units (ULPLTD/G). Therefore, the existence of insulation is essential due to its function as a separator among the transformer core and as a transformer cooler to minimize the heat that arises in the transformer. Hence, the objective of this research was to evaluate the transformer oil quality. The procedure was executed by observing the transformer and collecting data directly from the diesel machine of SWD 2, SWD 3, and SLZ 5. The results revealed that the breakdown voltage of transformer oil categorized as good was SLZ 5 oil with an average of 59,983, and the less good was SWD 2 oil with an average of 34.516. Furthermore, by observing the test results for new and used transformer oil, the breakdown voltage value for new transformer oil was always higher than used oil. Eventually, the transformer efficiency achieved was 95.58%
SISTEM IDENTIFIKASI DINI PENYAKIT STROKE DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN JARINGAN SYARAF TIRUAN PERAMBATAN BALIK
Heart disease is a disease with the second-highest mortality rate in the world. This happens because of an unhealthy human lifestyle. This unhealthy lifestyle affects the performance of the body's organs in carrying out their functions. Stroke can be prevented by exercising regularly, eating nutritious foods, not consuming alcohol, and not consuming tobacco. One way to find out if someone is free from stroke or not can be done by medical check-ups. However, this method is quite expensive. Given these problems, this study aims to design an early identification system for detecting early-stage stroke. The system is designed by utilizing the condition and history of the subject for identification. This study uses a back propagation neural network for the classification process. Variations in the use of hidden layers in each experiment were used to obtain the highest accuracy in the training process. From the results of the study, it was found that the system designed can detect early stroke with an accuracy rate of 97.8%
