Dibromido(2,2′-dimethyl-4,4′-bi-1,3-thiazole-κ2 N,N′)mercury(II)
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [HgBr2(C8H8N2S2)], contains two crystallographically independent molecules. The HgII atoms are four-coordinated in a distorted tetrahedral geometry by two N atoms from a 2,2′-dimethyl-4,4′-bi-1,3-thiazole ligand and two Br atoms. In the crystal structure, intermolecular C—H⋯Br hydrogen bonds and π–π contacts between the thiazole rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.670 (3) and 3.614 (2) Å] stabilize the structure
Effects of Intraluminal Vancomycin in Decreasing Central Venous Catheter Infection
Background: Central venous catheters (CVC) are important intravenous routes, that nowadays they can be used for various reasons including resuscitation management, intravenous feeding, chemotherapy drugs, and blood transfusions. Due to the special importance and increasing usage of these catheters lengthening the duration of these catheters are very important. Infections are the most common cause of removal of this catheter. Methods: In this prospective study (cohort), 80 patients with central venous catheter were divided into two groups. In the first group Vancomycin once per day injected inside catheter equal to their intraluminal volume and remained for 2 h, then catheter was aspirated and washed. But in control group catheter was washed only with normal saline. Finally, catheter infection rates in the two groups were compared. Results: In the group that used intraluminal Vancomycin, catheter infection was observed in 3 cases and was confirmed by blood culture, but in none of them catheter infection agent was not Gram-positive cocci. In control group, 18 cases of catheter infection were confirmed by culture that in 16 cases were caused by Gram-positive cocci that in 14 cases catheter was removed, and in 2 cases of catheter infection, infectious agent was Staphylococcus epidermidis which catheter maintained with appropriate antibiotics. Conclusions: Use of the intraluminal Vancomycin significantly reduces the rate of infection and thus increase the survival rate of CVC
catena-Poly[[(2,2′-dimethyl-4,4′-bi-1,3-thiazole-κ2 N,N′)cadmium]-di-μ-bromido]
In the title coordination polymer, [CdBr2(C8H8N2S2)]n, the CdII atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry by two N atoms from a 2,2′-dimethyl-4,4′-bi-1,3-thiazole ligand and four bridging Br atoms. The bridging function of the Br atoms leads to a chain structure along [100]. Interchain C—H⋯Br hydrogen bonds and π–π contacts between the thiazole rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.810 (5) and 3.679 (5) Å] are observed
Bis(4-carboxypyridine-2-carboxylato-κ2 N,O 2)copper(II) dimethyl sulfoxide disolvate
In the title complex, [Cu(C7H4NO4)2]·2C2H6OS, the CuII atom is situated on an inversion centre and is N,O-chelated by two monoanionic 4-carboxypyridine-2-carboxylate ligands in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry. The dimethyl sulfoxide solvent molecules and CuII complex molecules are linked by O—H⋯O hydrogen bonding. In addition, C—H⋯O contacts and π–π interactions [centroid–centroid distance = 3.590 (1) Å] occur
Study of rainbow trout neoplasia in the region of Haraz
This study was carried out in order to determine neoplasia presence in rainbow trout in Haraz area. Neoplasia in various species of fishes including freshwater, brackish water and marine fishes was reported in other countries. But up to now there is no documented report of rainbow trout neoplasia in Iran. The study was performed in 20 farms of Haraz area during 2004-2005. All fishes of each farm firstly were observed in order to any abnormal mass which is suspicious to neoplasia. Besides in order to observation of external and internal organs, 20 fishes was sampled randomly from each farm and were examined clinically and necroptically. Any suspicious lesions were sent to pathology laboratory in 10% formalin followed by taking pictures of the lesions. Then histopathological evaluations were performed. From 400 fishes, 3 neoplastic cases including hepatocellular carcinoma along with bile duct papilloma, hepatocellular carcinoma and bile duct adenocarcinoma and intestine adenocarcinoma were found which all were in brooder fish
Bis(2-amino-4-methylpyridinium) bis(pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato)cuprate(II)
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C6H9N2)2[Cu(C7H3NO4)2], contains half of a [Cu(pydc)2]2− (pydcH2 is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) anion and one protonated 2-amino-4-methylpyridine (2a4mpH)+ counter-ion. The anion is a six-coordinated complex with a distorted CuN2O4 octahedral geometry around the CuII ion. N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds along with π–π contacts between the pyridine rings of the (2a4mpH)+ cations [centroid–centroid distance = 3.573 (2) Å] stabilize the crystal structure
Dibromido(2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline-κ2 N,N′)zinc
The reaction of equimolar amounts of zinc bromide and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline in dry methanol provided the title compound, [ZnBr2(C14H12N2)], in good yield. The ZnII ion is coordinated in a distorted tetrahedral environment by two N atoms from the chelating 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two bromide ions. There is intermolecular π–π stacking between adjacent phenanthroline units, with centroid–centroid distances of 3.594 (3) and 3.652 (3) Å
Hexakis(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)thallium(III) trinitrate
The title compound, [Tl(C2H6OS)6](NO3)3, consists of six dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) molecules coordinated to a TlIII atom, which lies on a axis, and three nitrate anions (3. symmetry) to neutralize the charge. The coordination polyhedron around the TlIII atom is octahedral, defined by six O atoms of the DMSO molecules. In the crystal structure, C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed. One of the nitrate groups exhibits half-occupation
