High Perfomance Concrete- A state of the art study

    No full text
Abstract — In this paper a review is presented based on experimental studies done on high performance concrete. The compiled test data revealed distinct differences in the mechanical properties of normal, high strength and high performance concrete. Shape of the specimen ( cube, cylinder, beam etc), size of specimen, magnitude of temperature load applied on the specimen, percentage of fibers varied in the specimen, composition of the design mix etc affect the test results. To understand the behavior of concrete it is necessary that several factors be taken into account for each experiment. Strength of concrete, type of cement, type of aggregate, water cement ratio, density of concrete, percentage of reinforcement, cover to the reinforcement etc are some of the important factors that affect the performance of concrete

Abstract — Various papers based on high performance concrete (HPC) and their behaviour were studied. HPC’s containing different mineral as well as chemical admixtures exhibits different properties in fresh as well as hardened states. Several factors determine these properties like: type of mineral as well as chemical admixture, type of aggregates, water-cement ratio, curing method etc. Each paper takes into account various factors as listed above, and the relation to concrete properties are found out. This review paper contains test results on HPC with metakaolin, silica fume, with and without fibres (steel, glass, polypropylene) etc
