Quark-Squark Alignment Revisited
We re-examine the possibility that the solution to the supersymmetric flavor
problem is related to small mixing angles in gaugino couplings induced by
approximate horizontal Abelian symmetries. We prove that, for a large class of
models, there is a single viable structure for the down quark mass matrix with
four holomorphic zeros. Consequently, we are able to obtain both lower and
upper bounds on the supersymmetric mixing angles and predict the contributions
to various flavor changing neutral current processes. We find that the most
likely signals for alignment are close to the present bound,
significant CP violation in mixing, and shifts of order a few
percent in various CP asymmetries in and decays. In contrast, the
modifications to radiative B decays, to and to
decays are small. We further investigate a new class of
alignment models, where supersymmetric contributions to flavor changing
processes are suppressed by both alignment and RGE-induced degeneracy.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figure
âI'm Still Fighting for the Two of Usâ: How Partners of UK Veterans Construct Their Experience of Living with CombatâRelated Trauma
There has been little qualitative research into the experiences of UK partners of veterans with PTSD. This study therefore aimed to explore how partners constructed their experiences of living with the condition. Fifteen female partners of male UK veterans were recruited and interviewed. Using a social constructionist thematic analysis, five themes were constructed: the women's need to subdue own emotional and behavioral responses; dilemmas about whether the veteran was unwell or âbadâ; attempts at negotiating multiple roles; challenging the narrative of veterans as heroes; and the relational struggle with the transition to nonmilitary life. This study highlighted the importance of considering the veteran as existing within a relational and cultural context, and the need to include partners in therapeutic interventions
Phenomenology of V_ub from Ratios of Inclusive B Decay Rates
We explore the theoretical feasibility of extracting V_ub from two ratios
built from B meson inclusive partial decays,
R_1 = Gamma(b-> u cbar s)/3Gamma(b -> c l nu), and
R_2 = [Gamma(b -> c X) - Gamma(b -> cbar X)]/Gamma(b -> c ubar d).
We discuss contributions to these quantities from perturbative and
nonperturbative physics, and show that they can be computed with overall

The lifetime of B_c-meson and some relevant problems
The lifetime of the B_c-meson is estimated with consistent considerations on
all of the heavy mesons () and the double
heavy meson B_c. In the estimate, the framework, where the non-spectator
effects for nonleptonic decays are taken into account properly, is adopted, and
the parameters needed to be fixed are treated carefully and determined by
fitting the available data. The bound-state effects in it are also considered.
We find that in decays of the meson B_c, the QCD correction terms of the
penguin diagrams and the main component terms c_1O_1, c_2O_2 of the effective
interaction Lagrangian have direct interference that causes an enhancement
about 3 ~ 4% in the total width of the B_c meson.Comment: 27 pages, 0 figur
Calculation of two-loop virtual corrections to b --> s l+ l- in the standard model
We present in detail the calculation of the virtual O(alpha_s) corrections to
the inclusive semi-leptonic rare decay b --> s l+ l-. We also include those
O(alpha_s) bremsstrahlung contributions which cancel the infrared and mass
singularities showing up in the virtual corrections. In order to avoid large
resonant contributions, we restrict the invariant mass squared s of the lepton
pair to the range 0.05 < s/mb^2 < 0.25. The analytic results are represented as
expansions in the small parameters s/mb^2, z = mc^2/mb^2 and s/(4 mc^2). The
new contributions drastically reduce the renormalization scale dependence of
the decay spectrum. For the corresponding branching ratio (restricted to the
above s-range) the renormalization scale uncertainty gets reduced from +/-13%

Supersymmetry beyond minimal flavour violation
We review the sources and phenomenology of non-minimal flavour violation in
the MSSM. We discuss in some detail the most important theoretical and
experimental constraints, as well as promising observables to look for
supersymmetric effects at the LHC and in the future. We emphasize the
sensitivity of flavour physics to the mechanism of supersymmetry breaking and
to new degrees of freedom present at fundamental scales, such as the grand
unification scale. We include a discussion of present data that may hint at

ENIGMA and global neuroscience: A decade of large-scale studies of the brain in health and disease across more than 40 countries
This review summarizes the last decade of work by the ENIGMA (Enhancing NeuroImaging Genetics through Meta Analysis) Consortium, a global alliance of over 1400 scientists across 43 countries, studying the human brain in health and disease. Building on large-scale genetic studies that discovered the first robustly replicated genetic loci associated with brain metrics, ENIGMA has diversified into over 50 working groups (WGs), pooling worldwide data and expertise to answer fundamental questions in neuroscience, psychiatry, neurology, and genetics. Most ENIGMA WGs focus on specific psychiatric and neurological conditions, other WGs study normal variation due to sex and gender differences, or development and aging; still other WGs develop methodological pipelines and tools to facilitate harmonized analyses of "big data" (i.e., genetic and epigenetic data, multimodal MRI, and electroencephalography data). These international efforts have yielded the largest neuroimaging studies to date in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders, epilepsy, and 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. More recent ENIGMA WGs have formed to study anxiety disorders, suicidal thoughts and behavior, sleep and insomnia, eating disorders, irritability, brain injury, antisocial personality and conduct disorder, and dissociative identity disorder. Here, we summarize the first decade of ENIGMA's activities and ongoing projects, and describe the successes and challenges encountered along the way. We highlight the advantages of collaborative large-scale coordinated data analyses for testing reproducibility and robustness of findings, offering the opportunity to identify brain systems involved in clinical syndromes across diverse samples and associated genetic, environmental, demographic, cognitive, and psychosocial factors
