    Explosive Percolation: Unusual Transitions of a Simple Model

    In this paper we review the recent advances on explosive percolation, a very sharp phase transition first observed by Achlioptas et al. (Science, 2009). There a simple model was proposed, which changed slightly the classical percolation process so that the emergence of the spanning cluster is delayed. This slight modification turns out to have a great impact on the percolation phase transition. The resulting transition is so sharp that it was termed explosive, and it was at first considered to be discontinuous. This surprising fact stimulated considerable interest in "Achlioptas processes". Later work, however, showed that the transition is continuous (at least for Achlioptas processes on Erdos networks), but with very unusual finite size scaling.     The purpose of this paper is to study the drivers of competitiveness in sectors of the Greek manufacturing industry, both in the pro and post economic crisis era, based on firm level financial and qualitative data cover this gap, providing evidence about factors impact competitive dynamic of Greek manufacturing SMEs taking into account aspects of IT, knowledge management, training, innovation and financial ratios. The study is structured as follows: the next section presents a literature review on this subject, while section 3 highlight the methodology as well as the model approach of the study. In section 4, the empirical results of the study are presented and section 5 the main findings are discussed. By analyzing learners’ actions and extracting data related to their learning behavior, educators can specify proper learning approaches to stimulate learners’ interest and contribute to constructive monitoring of learning progress during the course or to improve future courses. Learners-generated content and their feedback and comments can provide indicative information about the educational procedures that they attended and the training activities that they participated in. Educational systems must possess mechanisms to analyze learners’ comments and automatically specify their opinions and attitude towards the courses and the learning activities that are offered to them. This paper describes a Greek language sentiment analysis system that analyzes texts written in Greek language and generates feature vectors which together with classification algorithms give us the opportunity to classify Greek texts based on the personal opinion and the degree of satisfaction expressed. The sentiment analysis module has been integrated into the hybrid educational systems of the Greek school network that offers life-long learning courses. The module offers a wide range of possibilities to lecturers, policymakers and educational institutes that participate in the training procedure and offers life-long learning courses, to understand how their learners perceive learning activities and specify what aspects of the learning activities they liked and disliked. The experimental study show quite interesting results regarding the performance of the sentiment analysis methodology and the specification of users’ opinions and satisfaction. The feature analysis demonstrates interesting findings regarding the characteristics that provide indicative information for opinion analysis and embeddings combined with deep learning approaches yield satisfactory results.Peer reviewe

With advanced machine learning models like Transformers, Sentiment Analysis achieves remarkable progress in sentiment classification. These models capture nuances, context, and variations for more accurate results. In the digital age, Sentiment Analysis is indispensable for businesses, organizations, and researchers, offering deep insights into opinions, sentiments, and trends. It impacts customer service, reputation management, brand perception, market research, and social impact analysis. In the following experimental research, we will examine the Zero-Shot technique on pre-trained Transformers and observe that, depending on the Model we use, we can achieve up to 83% in terms of the model’s ability to distinguish between classes in this Sentiment Analysis problem

    Superficial brachial artery traversing a median nerve loop in the arm associated with other vascular and muscular anomalies: case report and clinical implications

    Knowledge of the various morphological patterns of the brachial artery and median nerve in the upper limb area is of considerable clinical and surgical importance to physicians intervening with these areas. In the current study, in the right upper limb of a male cadaver a rare variation of a superficial brachial artery associated with a median nerve loop in the upper arm is presented. The artery gave off a deep brachial artery in the arm and normally bifurcated in the cubital fossa. Additionally, a muscular bundle from the brachialis muscle was also present, overlapping the median nerve along with the deep brachial artery above the elbow. To the best of our knowledge such a combination of arterial, neural and muscular anatomical variations is extremely rare. Since brachial plexus and brachial artery variations are more prone to injury, their surgical, diagnostic and interventional importance are valuable to radiologists in interpreting images and to vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons involved in compressive peripheral neuropathy treatment. The relevant clinical and surgical implications are discussed as well

    Humeral septal aperture associated with supracondylar process: a case report and review of the literature

    The supracondylar process is usually a beak-like osseous prominence located at the anteromedial aspect of the distal portion of the humerus. It is usually asymptomatic but occasionally may compress underlying structures such as the median or ulnar nerve, the brachial artery or its branches. The term septal aperture defines an oval or round shaped bony defect of the septum that separates the olecranon from the coronoid fossa of the humerus. It is of significance for surgeons because it may alter the fracture pattern at the region and thus their management. We present a rare case of coexistence of supracondylar process and septal aperture in a macerated left humerus. The reported incidence of the supracondylar process alone varies from 0.28% to 2.78%, while that of the septal aperture from 6.9% to 60%. We have reviewed the literature and emphasized the radiological and surgical significance of the findings

    Prescriptive maintenance has recently attracted a lot of scientific attention. It integrates the advantages of descriptive and predictive analytics to automate the process of detecting non nominal device functionality. Implementing such proactive measures in home or industrial settings may improve equipment dependability and minimize operational expenses. There are several techniques for prescriptive maintenance in diverse use cases, but none elaborates on a general methodology that permits successful prescriptive analysis for small size industrial or residential settings. This study reports on prescriptive analytics, while assessing recent research efforts on multi-domain prescriptive maintenance. Given the existing state of the art, the main contribution of this work is to propose a broad framework for prescriptive maintenance that may be interpreted as a high-level approach for enabling proactive buildings
