Intersections of S-branes with Waves and Monopoles

We construct intersections of S-branes with waves and Kaluza-Klein monopoles. There are several possible ways to add a monopole to an S-brane solution similar to p-branes. On the other hand, one may add a wave only to the transverse space of an S-brane unlike a p-brane where wave resides on its worldvolume. The metric function of the wave is a harmonic function of the remaining transverse directions and an extra condition on integration constants is needed. We also show that it is not possible to add an S-brane to p-brane intersections whose near horizon geometry has an AdS part.Comment: 15 pages, typos correcte

In this study, relationship between serum a -amylase levels and live weight gains in beef cattle was performed one year old. 13 Brown male cattle were used as research material. Study had last for four months. There was no relationship between live weight gain differences at the beginning and end of feeding period and serum a - amylase levels as we defined low and high. But beef cattle with high a -amylase level had 7.09 kg more live weight gain than the low one. This amount is economically important.

Pumice as Precursor in Geopolymer Paste and Mortar

Natural rocks of magmatic origin are alternative precursors in alkali-activated materials and provide opportunities in the search for more environmentally friendly binders compared to portland cement. The pumice is one of these rocks and its amorphous structure and chemical composition make it one of the candidates as a precursor in producing geopolymer binder when finely ground. Since the majority of the pumice reserves are located in Turkey increases its potential utilization in this area, even more. This paper evaluates the physical, mechanical, and microstructural properties of geopolymer pastes and mortars manufactured with pumice powder (PP) and ground granulated blast furnace slag (BFS) with the activating agents sodium hydroxide (NaOH), potassium hydroxide (KOH), and sodium silicate (SS) solution. The experimental results showed that the compressive strength of the geopolymer pastes was mainly affected by the activator concentration and the PP ratio, rather than the activator type, for single activator mixes. However, the incorporation of SS changed this trend as the KOH and SS combination resulted in higher compressive strength compared to the NaOH and SS. The gradual increase of the PP ratio in the mix design decreased the density and thermal conductivity, on the other hand, increased the water absorption values of the geopolymer mortars. However, the physical properties were insignificantly changed in geopolymer mortars incorporating 60, 70, and 80% of PP in the binder

W ith the rise of velocity and momentum in machines as a result of technological developments, on gears, alongside refraction from the bottom of the gears and pitting formation, and scoring formation has showed up. In the scoring formation phase because of the fact that many parameters are influential, resistance calculations could not be stated precisely. In experiments made for this purpose, 20MnCr5 steel gears were coated using various coating materials chrome, nickel and manganese , thus usage of coating material on gear mechanisms in terms of scoring was analyzed. In the experiments, gears were rotated with a speed of 3000 rpm and the oil temperature constant at 323±2 °K. Gears were exposed to loading at 15.2 Nm and continued by increasing 20 % until scoring formation was observed. It is seen in the experiments that coated gears have more scoring resistance than uncoated ones. It is also observed that coating materials increases the scoring strength of gears. According to the experiments, when gears run at the same conditions speed, torque and lubrication , chrome coated gears are 10 times longer, nickel coated gears are 5 times and manganese coated gears are 1.5 times longer resisted when compared with uncoated gears. After the scoring formation, experiments continued for determining how the scoring formation developed. It is seen in the experiments that when scoring occurs the wear increases rapidly on the tooth of gear

Leptin is a hormone that coordinates body weight control and is produced by adipocytes. In this study, Yüzüncü Yıl University research and application farm of leptin in the Nord and Tahirov grown on sheep breeds, and some vitamins and the correlation between them for the purpose of determining the levels of some biochemical parameters was made. In the study, 2 different healthy sheep breeds (Norduz, Tahirova) were used. A total of 26 sheep, 13 of each sheep breed, were included in the study. The levels of Leptin, Vitamins A, D and E, glucose, urea, total protein, FT3 and FT4 were examined in blood samples taken from animals. The leptin and FT4 levels were 15.92 ng/ml and 1.07 µg/dl, respectively, in the Tahirova sheep breed, while these values were 5.22 ng/ml and 0.91 µg/dl in the Norduz sheep, and the difference in value was found to be statistically significant (p<0.001). A negative correlation was found between alpha Decopherol and total protein and FT3 in Tahirova sheep, and a positive correlation was found between vitamin D3 and retinol. Decibels were found to be negative in Tahirova sheep. In the Norduz sheep, a negative correlation Dec detected between retinol, vitamin D3 and leptin, and a positive correlation Dec detected between FT4 and FT3. By looking at the results of this study, it shows that the detection of high serum leptin levels in the Tahirova breed, which is one of the thin-tailed sheep, theoretically does not depend on the tail fat ratio of leptin production. In order to explain the biochemical mechanisms of such phenomena in sheep with thin and fat tails, additional feeding-hormone studies are needed

Background: Total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS) and oxidative stress index (OSI), nitric oxide (NO), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu) levels, paraoxonase (PON1), arylesterase (ARES) activities, and biochemical changes were studied on sheep with cystic echinococcosis. Methods: The materials were taken from 2-3 yr old sheep slaughtered in Van Province, Turkey in 2017. Before the slaughter, blood samples were collected from the healthy sheep, while various organs of animals were examined for hydatid cysts after the slaughter. Thirty sheep were protoscolex positive, hydatic group, while 30 sheep that did not have any pathological lesions in organ examinations were accepted as the control group. TOS levels, PON1 and ARES activities, and Zn levels were determined by commercial kits, while Cu levels were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The collected data were then statistically analyzed. Results: Serum TOS and OSI levels were significantly higher in sheep with cystic echinococcosis compared to the control group (P<0.001). TAS levels (P<0.01), PON1 and ARES activities, on the other hand, were significantly higher in control group compared to the cystic echinococcosis group (P<0.001). There were no significant differences in Zn, NO and Cu levels between the groups. Conclusion: PON1 and ARES activities increased in sheep infected with cyst hydatid. The decline of antioxidant reserves in the metabolism results in excessive amounts of free radicals, along with alterations of the normal histological structure of the cystic organ and changes in trace element metabolism
