Several severe diseases were actually treated with therapeutic polypeptides. To identify novel regulatory peptides for the therapy of bone diseases, neuronal diseases and of hematopoetic disorders, we started a comprehensive screening project. This program included the development of cellular assay systems as well as the establishment of a peptide library from thousands of liters of human blood filtrate. As a major result, we isolated two new osteoanabolic peptides and additionally a neuroprotective peptide. These substances are now in preclinical trials and have a promising therapeutic potential.
