Effect of the over-ageing treatment on the mechanical properties of AA2024 aluminum alloy.
The evolution of the hardness of the over-ageing AA2024 alloy scale was followed by measurements of Vickers hardness. The nanoindentation is adapted to the determination of elastoplastic properties (hardness and Youngâs modulus) of the matrix and also of coarse intermetallic precipitates. Influence of the artificial over-ageing time to hardness and to mechanical properties as the local scale was investigated
Thyroid hormones paradox, oxidative stress, and selenium
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role in physiological processes, but - when being in excess - ROS cause oxidative damage to molecules. Under physiological conditions, the production and detoxification of ROS are more-or-less balanced. Also in the thyroid, ROS and free radicals participate in physiological and pathological processes in the gland. For example, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is crucial for thyroid hormone biosynthesis, acting at different steps of the process. Additionally, H2O2 is believed to participate in the Wolff-Chaikoff`s effect, undergoing in conditions of iodide excess in the thyroid. It is the purpose of this review to attempt a synthesis of what we currently know of thyroid hormones production and their relation to oxidative stress and selenium, a trace element.Biomedical Reviews 2009; 20: 17-29
Impact of immunotherapy with pseudomonas serotip xv etanolic extract (Cantastim) on local recurrence and survival at 3 and 5 years in operated rectal cancer
Although most recurrences (approximately 80%) occur in the first three years after a curative resection, a recurrence of CRC can occur even ten years after the initial curative resection (dormant spread of cancer cells). Immunotherapy is an emerging therapy with high potential. The immune system plays a major role in the development of CRC. This has led to innovative new therapies, such as cancer vaccines and T-cell stimulation therapies. Cantastim belongs to the class of nonspecific immunostimulators or immunomodulators, most of which are of bacterial origin and are used as mono- or polymicrobial suspensions. Cantastim is an ethanolic extract obtained from a pathogenic strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa serotype XV. The beneficial effect of immunotherapy with Cantastim was more pronounced for the local developmental
stages (I and II) than for the later stages

Le paratexte mĂ©diatique entre lâarbitraire du signe et la rĂ©alitĂ© langagiĂšre
In this paper, we intend to analyse the paratextual elements in press, having as a starting point the sign arbitrary theory and the reality designed by language (linguistic reality); we shall try at the same time to underline the methodological and metalinguistic convergences between Discourse Analysis and Textual Linguistics. The paratextual level represents a particular type of dis-course which is built and rebuilt according to the communicative needs
Quantitative analysis of Soil loss in the Plateau administrative territorial units of Suceava county
Beginning with the statement that the economic activities of the main sector occupy a majority share in Suceava Plateau, this study aims to highlight the negative impact that the use of the land has on soil. The determination of soil loss from the said area will be accomplished through a GIS analysis using the USLE model (Universal Soil Loss Equation), where, in addition to the land utilization will be taken into consideration a number of other factors regarding the climatic, soil and topographic particularities. The result of this type of modeling permits an inventory of the soil loss values and the identification of areas where the admitted quality of soil loss is exceeded, therefore, being lost the main nutrient elements of the soil, decreasing fertility. The utility of the USLE model application is found in determining the crops alternation structures or in determining the soil protection measures. Moreover USLE model is an effective tool in defining a territoryâs dysfunctions connected to the soilâs degradation, screening an eloquent image of the existing situation regarding the environmental quality in developing the land setup plan
LANDSLIDE SUSCEPTIBILITY IN THE RURAL AREA OF BUCOVINA
The territorial support of the Bucovina region is characterized by its complexity, this characteristic deriving primarily from the fact that it meets in its boundaries different properties, the western part being a mountainous region and the eastern one of plateau. Sketching an actual image of the existing dysfunctions of the region from a natural perspective requires an analysis of the susceptibility of landslides, this being one of the most common problems when it comes to the quality of the natural support of a geographic complex. The predisposed areas to this type of hazard will be outlined into a cartographic support according the semi-quantitative method governed in Romania by G.D. no 447/2003 which establish the elaboration and the content of natural hazards at landslides. In order to achieve this objective, it has been used G.I.S. technique both for the construction of vector and raster necessary data bases and for statistical analysis of the final results. Last but not least through the mentioned technique it can be identify the risk caused in the territory by landslides. One of the benefits of this study is the forecasting of regional development projects in rural areas from Bucovina
Risk Factors for Severe Postoperative Complications after Oncologic Right Colectomy: Unicenter Analysis
Background and Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the potential risk factors for severe postoperative complications after oncologic right colectomy. Materials and Methods: All consecutive patients with right colon cancer who underwent right colectomy in our department between 2016 and 2021 were retrospectively included in this study. The ClavienâDindo grading system was used to evaluate postoperative complications. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to investigate risk factors for postoperative severe complications. Results: Of the 144 patients, there were 69 males and 75 females, with a median age of 69 (IQR 60â78). Postoperative morbidity and mortality rates were 41.7% (60 patients) and 11.1% (16 patients), respectively. The anastomotic leak rate was 5.3% (7 patients). Severe postoperative complications (ClavienâDindo grades IIIâV) were present in 20 patients (13.9%). Univariate analysis showed the following as risk factors for postoperative severe complications: Charlson score, lack of mechanical bowel preparation, level of preoperative proteins, blood transfusions, and degree of urgency (elective/emergency right colectomy). In the logistic binary regression, the Charlson score (OR = 1.931, 95% CI = 1.077â3.463, p = 0.025) and preoperative protein level (OR = 0.049, 95% CI = 0.006â0.433, p = 0.007) were found to be independent risk factors for postoperative severe complications. Conclusions: Severe complications after oncologic right colectomy are associated with a low preoperative protein level and a higher Charlson comorbidity index
CRITERIA FOR THE DEFINITION AND CLASSIFICATION OF COMPLEX POST-INCISION HERNIAS
Recurrence after postinicizsional hernia surgery is an unsolved problem so far. In literature the hernia reccurence varies between 1% and 50%, influenced by the postoperative follow-up period. The purpose of this
paper is to describe the term âcomplex postincisional herniaâ. It becomes necessary to clarify the term and
make a classification in order to be able to apply a surgical treatment adapted to the patient's plurifactorial
pathology and to allow comparison of the results between the different surgical methods.
This paper is a review of the literature on this subject, obtained through the use of EPOS, NCBI, PubMed,
MedLine, Embase and other international databases
CLINICAL-STATISTICAL STUDY OF MULTIPLE SYNCHRONOUS AND METACRONE TUMORS
Multiple malignant tumors, synchronous, metachronous, represent a subject currently under development. Risk assessment, standardization of screening and and to map the sequences of the occurrence and
localization represents current issues. For further study, we evaluated 30 patients who developed 3 or more
malignancies. The study has a retrospective character, the information being obtained from the history and
the medical documents of the patients admitted to the General Surgery II of the Bucharest Emergency Hospital during 2010-2019
