Concentration inequalities for the number of real zeros of Kac polynomials
We study concentration inequalities for the number of real roots of the
classical Kac polynomials where
are independent random variables with mean 0, variance 1, and uniformly bounded
(2+\ep_0)-moments. We establish polynomial tail bounds, which are optimal,
for the bulk of roots. For the whole real line, we establish sub-optimal tail
bounds.Comment: more references adde
Ultrasonic-Assisted Cathodic Plasma Electrolysis Approach for Producing of Graphene Nanosheets
In this chapter, we review on the production of graphene by ultrasonic-assisted cathodic plasma electrolysis approach which involves a combination process of conventional electrolysis and plasma at ambient pressure and moderate temperature. Firstly, we review on the techniques for electrochemical preparation of graphene. Then, we briefly describe plasma electrolysis approach for producing of graphene. The mechanism, advantages, and disadvantages of this technique are discussed in detail
Building A Face Authentication System Using Face API In The Data Center System
In the era of strong development of technology along with artificial intelligence, face recognition algorithms are more and more accurate and widely applied to life. Researchers began to spend a lot of time studying facial recognition technology. The project building a face authentication system using Face API in the data center system is done through research on how Windows 10 IoT Core operating system works on Raspberry Pi 3 and experimenting with the Face API service toolkit for authentication and face recognition. Since then, the project has brought some results with highly practical applications such as bringing problems from theory to practice, specifically the face recognition door system with the accuracy on the physical door system model to be 90%; which makes opening or closing doors more secure; The product can be applied to the company, enterprise: exit and entrance to data center room, machine room, classroom, office...; Apply facial recognition technology to different purposes easily
Lovastatin for adult patients with dengue: protocol for a randomised controlled trial.
BACKGROUND: Dengue is the most important vector-borne viral infection of man, with approximately 2 billion people living in areas at risk. Infection results in a range of manifestations from asymptomatic infection through to life-threatening shock and haemorrhage. One of the hallmarks of severe dengue is vascular endothelial disruption. There is currently no specific therapy and clinical management is limited to supportive care. Statins are a class of drug initially developed for lipid lowering. There has been considerable recent interest in their effects beyond lipid lowering. These include anti-inflammatory effects at the endothelium. In addition, it is possible that lovastatin may have an anti-viral effect against dengue. Observational data suggest that the use of statins may improve outcomes for such conditions as sepsis and pneumonia. This paper describes the protocol for a randomised controlled trial investigating a short course of lovastatin therapy in adult patients with dengue. METHODS/DESIGN: A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial will investigate the effects of lovastatin therapy in the treatment of dengue. The trial will be conducted in two phases with an escalation of dose between phases if an interim safety review is satisfactory. This is an exploratory study focusing on safety and there are no data on which to base a sample size calculation. A target sample size of 300 patients in the second phase, enrolled over two dengue seasons, was chosen based on clinical judgement and feasibility considerations. In a previous randomised trial in dengue, about 10% and 30% of patients experienced at least one serious adverse event or adverse event, respectively. With 300 patients, we will have 80% power to detect an increase of 12% (from 10% to 22%) or 16% (from 30% to 46%) in the frequency of adverse events. Furthermore, this sample size ensures some power to explore the efficacy of statins. DISCUSSION: The development of a dengue therapeutic that can attenuate disease would be an enormous advance in global health. The favourable effects of statins on the endothelium, their good safety profile and their low cost make lovastatin an attractive therapeutic candidate. ViCLEVR: A Visual Reasoning Dataset and Hybrid Multimodal Fusion Model for Visual Question Answering in Vietnamese
In recent years, Visual Question Answering (VQA) has gained significant
attention for its diverse applications, including intelligent car assistance,
aiding visually impaired individuals, and document image information retrieval
using natural language queries. VQA requires effective integration of
information from questions and images to generate accurate answers. Neural
models for VQA have made remarkable progress on large-scale datasets, with a
primary focus on resource-rich languages like English. To address this, we
introduce the ViCLEVR dataset, a pioneering collection for evaluating various
visual reasoning capabilities in Vietnamese while mitigating biases. The
dataset comprises over 26,000 images and 30,000 question-answer pairs (QAs),
each question annotated to specify the type of reasoning involved. Leveraging
this dataset, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of contemporary visual
reasoning systems, offering valuable insights into their strengths and
limitations. Furthermore, we present PhoVIT, a comprehensive multimodal fusion
that identifies objects in images based on questions. The architecture
effectively employs transformers to enable simultaneous reasoning over textual
and visual data, merging both modalities at an early model stage. The
experimental findings demonstrate that our proposed model achieves
state-of-the-art performance across four evaluation metrics. The accompanying
code and dataset have been made publicly accessible at
\url{https://github.com/kvt0012/ViCLEVR}. This provision seeks to stimulate
advancements within the research community, fostering the development of more
multimodal fusion algorithms, specifically tailored to address the nuances of
low-resource languages, exemplified by Vietnamese.Comment: A pre-print version and submitted to journa
Integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Institutional Development Strategy: Recommendations for Vietnamese Universities
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which were endorsed by global leaders at a United Nations meeting in September 2015, entered into force on January 1st, 2016. These objectives seek to coordinate worldwide endeavours to end inequality, combat climate change, and eradicate all forms of poverty while guaranteeing that no one is left behind. This study focuses on synthesizing reports and scholarly papers discussing the integration of the United Nations’ 17 SDGs into higher education worldwide to propose recommendations for Vietnam. The results from document analysis show that universities play a significant role in the implementation of the SDGs. Moreover, the key areas to integrate the SDGs into the institution’s strategic planning are education, research, cooperation and community services, and institutional governance and operations. It is suggested that to integrate the SDGs into the development strategy, Vietnamese universities should understand the SDGs, conduct a sustainable assessment, build sustainability policies, engage stakeholders, and regularly monitor and report progress toward the SDGs
