Transition to lasing induced by resonant absorption
We theoretically demonstrate that increase of absorption with constant gain
in laser systems can lead to onset of laser generation. This counter-intuitive
absorption induced lasing (AIL) is explained by emergence of additional lasing
modes created by an introduction of an absorbing medium with narrow linewidth.
We show that this effect is universal and can be encountered in simple
Fabry-Perot-like systems and doped spherical dielectric nanoresonators. The
predicted behavior is robust against frequency detuning between the gain and
absorbing medium
Nanostructured optical waveguide with a highly confined mode
We propose a transmission line working at telecom wavelengths with cross
section as small as , which is 1.6 times smaller than that of
optimized silicon waveguide. The proposed line can be implemented as a
subwavelength fiber with plasmonic cladding. This considerable decrease in the
line cross section is achieved by utilizing a plasmonic quasi-antisymmetric
mode. The required plasmonic cladding is rather thin, therefore, losses are
moderate and could be compensated by using amplifying core materials. Such a
transmission line can find applications in densely integrated optical systems
Factor analysis of profit wholesale-retail pharmaceutical companies
The results of the analysis of the factors affecting the net profit and profitability of the pharmaceutical company. As an object of research performed one of the typical wholesale-retail pharmaceutical organizations. During the analysis found a negative effect on the value of absolute values of gross and net profit decrease in total turnover for 2009-2014 years. to 41.62%, revealed a compensatory effect on the value of the level of gross profit and net profit, changes in the structure of total turnover in the direction of increasing the proportion of groups with higher marginal income, and also demonstrated a negative effect on the growth of levels of financial performance costs
Channel spaser
We show that net amplification of surface plasmons is achieved in channel in
a metal plate due to nonradiative excitation by quantum dots. This makes
possible lossless plasmon transmission lines in the channel as well as the
amplification and generation of coherent surface plasmons. As an example, a
ring channel spaser is considered
Role of indole derivative SS-68 in increasing the frequency range of cardiac rhythm control (reflex stimulation of the sinoatrial node)
The substance SS-68 increases the frequency range of heart rhythm control by activating reflex stimulation of the sinoatrial node. The main point of application of SS-68 is the medulla oblongata. Glow in the high-frequency electromagnetic field reflects the process of neuron excitatio
Outbreak of Anthrax in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District in 2016, Epidemiological Peculiarities
In 2016, in the territory of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District an outbreak of anthrax took place, 2650 reindeers were infected. As a consequence of contacts with affected and fallen animals, 36 cases of human infection occurred, of which one was fatal. Performed full-extent complex of anti-epidemic, anti-epizootic, and preventive measures, prompt organization of operations at the regional level allowed for localization of large-scale anthrax focus within the minimum possible time. Based on the lessons learned, identified were the ways to further enhancement of epidemiological surveillance and prophylaxis of anthrax under current conditions
