PGE1 nebulisation during caesarean section for Eisenmenger\u27s syndrome: a case report.
Introduction: Eisenmenger\u27s syndrome in pregnancy can lead to death in 50% to 65% of parturients. Expensive invasive monitoring and medication have improved management and outcomes. Cheaper alternatives for the management of high-risk Patients who present with no prenatal care are still not available. Case Presentation: We describe the obstetric anaesthesia management of a 34-year-old, 34-weeks pregnant woman who presented with a recent diagnosis of severe Eisenmenger\u27s syndrome. A combined spinal epidural anaesthesia was used together with invasive cardiac monitoring as well as PGE1 nebulisation after delivery of the baby. This helped achieve a reduction of shunt, improvement of hypoxia and reduction of pulmonary pressures. Conclusion: We found this to be a cheaper and safe alternative in the management of such Patients who present with no adequate prior management
Generalization of majorization theorem via Abel-Gontscharoff polynomial
In this paper we use Abel-Gontscharoff formula and Green function to give some identities for the difference of majorization inequality and present the generalization of majorization theorem for the class of n-convex. We use inequalities for the Čebyšev functional to obtain bounds for the identities related to generalizations of majorization inequalities. We present mean value theorems and n-exponential convexity for the functional obtained from the generalized majorization inequalities. At the end we discuss the results for particular families of functions and give means
Financial Market Integration: Empirical Evidence from the Economic Cooperation of India and Pakistan
The aim of this study was to explore the integration between financial markets of India and Pakistan with the help of economic cooperation among them. Monthly data from the period of January 2002 to December 2012, was applied for this stud, the data of Monthly stock price index and Trade was used. The results highlighted that there is cointegration between the two stock markets in short run, and as we have used 11 years data it is not appropriate to conclude the long run relationship on this basis, although the Johansen Cointegration test proves the presence of two cointegrating vectors. Therefore we may conclude that there is direct cause and effect relationship between stock markets of India and Pakistan with respect to trade and if the hindrances in trade are removed the financial markets will perform much better than now. Trade between India and Pakistan is of great importance for the development of both the nations as well as the regional development. There are ample opportunities available for the investors as well, they can reduce risk and earn higher returns by investing in each other’s markets. Key Terms: Financial Markets, Financial Markets Integration, Economic Cooperation, Cooperation versus Integratio
Positive semi-definite matrices, exponential convexity for multiplicative majorization and related means of Cauchy's type
In this paper, we obtain new results concerning the generalizations of additive and multiplicative majorizations by means of exponential convexity. We prove positive semi-definiteness of matrices generated by differences deduced from majorization type results which implies exponential convexity and -convexity of these differences and also obtain Lyapunov's and Dresher's inequalities for these differences. We give some applications of additive and multiplicative majorizations. In addition, we introduce new means of Cauchy's type and establish their monotonicity
On Majorization for Matrices
In this paper, we give several results for majorized matrices by using continuous convex function and Green function. We obtain mean value theorems for majorized matrices and also give corresponding Cauchy means, as well as prove that these means are monotonic. We prove positive semi-definiteness of matrices generated by differences deduced from majorized matrices which implies exponential convexity and log-convexity of these differences and also obtain Lypunov's and Dresher's type inequalities for these differences
Hepatoprotective effect of Cichorium Intybus linn (Kasni) Extracts against Carbon Tetrachloride induced Liver Damage
Background: To assess the effect of aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Cichorium intybus linn , frequently used by Hakims and traditional healers, on liver, against the carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) induced hepatic injury. Methods: In this experimental intervention study, forty rats were subdivided into four sub groups, ten in each group. Group I was kept as standard control. For this study three groups (II, III, IV) were made in which aqueous and alcoholic extract was given prior to hepatic damage by CCl4. Hepatoprotective effect was assessed by measuring serum levels of alanine transaminase(ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Results: Very significant hepatoprotective effect (p<0.001) was observed by alcoholic extract while aqueous extract showed no significant effect against CCl4 induced hepatic injury. Conclusion: Alcoholic extract of Cichorium intybus linn exhibits a very significant hepatoprotective effec
The Allusions of Behavioral Finance
The deliberation in theoretical finance among the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) and the subject of the behavioral finance is of immense interest. from the time when its emerge, the EMH has been the most significant theory which describes the behavior of the diverse agents in the financial markets and overlooks more or less any prospective impact of human behavior in the investment method. From the end of 1970s and the commencement of 1980s, a rising number of researchers and scholars showed the irregularity of this theory. The anomalies of the recent portfolio models and theories have provoked the development of behavioral finance. Behavioral finance assimilates psychology and economics in finance theory and has its heredity in theground-breaking work of great psychologists Tversky and Daniel Kahneman (1979). The rationale of this study is to present a synthesis of the behavioral finance literature over the last two decades. Doppler of Renal Segmental Artery Resistive Index in Diabetic Patients
Background: Diabetic nephropathy affects 40 percent of patients with type I diabetes mellitus. It carries a poor prognosis when fully developed, where the estimated death rate is approximately 40-100 times that of non-diabetics. Vascular resistivity evaluation at multiple points of renal parenchyma can indicate structural or functional changes within the kidneys and can provide useful diagnostic and prognostic information. Objective: The goal of the research was to use renal artery Doppler to evaluate the mean renal resistivity index in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Methodology: The research was initiated with the approval of the University of Lahore Ethical Committee. In this study, all the patients were registered after signing the informed consent form. Toshiba Xario was used with a convex probe of frequency of 3-5 MHz. Renal Resistive Index (RRI) was evaluated and sonographic data was kept in the ultrasound unit. The Statistical package for Social Sciencies version 24 was used for analysing the data. Results: Among 97 patients, there were 66 females and 31 males of which 50 patients were with Diabetes and 47 were normal. In the result of our study it was seen that renal resistive index significantly increases in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Conclusion: In conclusion, renal resistive index (RRI) levels were high in patients with Diabetes Mellitus showing positive correlation of RRI values Keywords: Diabetic nephropathy, Renal resistive index, Chronic kidney disease DOI: 10.7176/JHMN/82-03 Publication date: November 30th 202
