The study developed construct an that instrument measures ; five factors of resilience which is a multidimensional construct that incorporates both internal and external protective (Friborg, Hjemdal, Rosenvinge & Martinussen, 2006; Kumpfer, 1999; Luthar et al, 2000; Richardson, 2002). Internal characteristics associated efficacy, perseverance, internal locus of control, coping and adaptation skills (Garmezy, 1985; Kumpfer, 1999; Luthans, Vogelgesang & Lester, 2006; Tedeschi & Kilmer, 2005). External factors that promote coping include family and social support networks (Friberg et al., 2006; Hardy et al., 2004; Luthar et al., 2000; Werner & Smith, 1992). The survey questionnaire was validated and distributed to 278 freshman college students enrolled. in the College Orientation Course in a collegiate school in Calamba City (N= 278) There were 156 (56.12%) female and 122 (43.88%) male participants. The instrument was tested using Exploratory Factory Analysis (EFA). Out of 108 items, 62 remained significant and stable in the four factors of resilience. Given the results for the acceptable items in EFA, it was tested using a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The goodness of fit based on the RMS standardized residual (RMS=0.070) showed less error having a value closer to .01. The Noncentrality fit indices values shows good fit for four factors of res1hence (Steiger-Lind RMSEA Index= 0.70, Population Gamma Index= 0.774, Adjusted Population Gamma Index= 0.758)

The present study aims to investigate the connection between career indecision and self-efficacy on the career decision-making of Filipino senior high school students. Using descriptive correlational research design, 221 senior high school students (106 female, 115 male) participated in the study. Career decision difficulties questionnaire (CDDQ) and Career decision-making self-efficacy-short form scale (CDMSE-SF) were administered to the above participants. Results indicated that career indecision has significant negative relationship to career decision-making self-efficacy (r=-0.32). the study also concluded that there is no significant difference in the level of career indecision of Filipino senior high school students when grouped according to sex, grade level, and academic strand. There is also no significant difference in the level of career decision-making self-efficacy when classified according to grade level except for sex and academic strand. Implications to career counseling and career development are forwarded

Exploring the factors of perfectionism within the Big five personality model among Filipino college students

    No full text
The five factors of personality tested include Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness. The study aimed to better understand the complex set of behaviors and characteristics associated with perfectionism. The study is based on the theory of Pertectionis111 by Frost and the Big Five Factor Theory of Personality. It is a cross-sectional predictive investigation that made use of SEM with bootstrapping on data gathered fro1n 106 college students. The results revealed that the proposed 1nodel showed adequate goodness of fit, as indicated by the low chi-square and discrepancy function values (x2=1180.258, df=589, x2/df=2.004) which is significant at .05 alpha level. The sample represents the 111odel well as shown by acceptable fit indices (CF1 =.531, PCFI =.496, RMSEA =.098)

The study dealt with determining if perfectionism through its different scales would have an effect on the five factors of personality. The scales of perfectionism would include Concen1 over Mistakes, Personal Standards, Parental Expectations, Parental Criticis111, Doubt about actions and Organization. The five factors of personality tested include Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness.
