Employees’ Vocational Training and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):beyond “Primary Responsibilities”

This article aims at looking at ethical issues in vocational training. It widely explores the specific role of vocational training among the set of “responsibilities” that a company could have, not only towards it stakeholders, but also towards its own workforce. Underlying the multiple unfair sources of employees’ vocational training- the unequal access to training is one of them - we try to examine the possible combinations between CSR and this human resource practice. Through a critical outlook on CSR, we analyze different levels of CSR and insist on “ethical responsibilities” – a form of responsibility that aims at recognizing the employees as ethical subjects

Aproximación al Antropoceno en el contexto del conflicto armado: el territorio como espacio de producción cognitiva, participación afectiva e imaginación discursiva

This article reflects on the Anthropocene against the backdrop of armed conflict. To this end, it analyses two mining projects: one in southwestern Antioquia in Colombia and the other in the Luhwindja Chiefdom in the Democratic Republic of Congo. After examining the post-agreement and post-war political contexts of each country, this paper describes the extraction projects implemented in the territories, as well as the forms of resistance of the local populations. It also depicts the reconstruction of the territory as a place for cognitive production, affective participation, and discursive imagination. The very concept of territory is re-signified, beyond its geographical definition, as a territory of life.Este artículo ofrece una aproximación al Antropoceno en el contexto del conflicto armado. Para ello, se centra en dos proyectos mineros ubicados en el suroeste de Antioquia (Colombia) y Luhwindja (República Democrática del Congo). Tras examinar los contextos políticos de posacuerdo y posguerra de cada país, se describen los proyectos de extracción que se llevan a cabo en cada territorio, así como las formas de resistencia de las poblaciones locales. También se hace una reconstrucción del territorio como espacio de producción cognitiva, participación afectiva e imaginación discursiva. En este sentido, se da un nuevo significado al concepto de territorio, trascendiendo su definición meramente geográfica para concebirlo como un territorio de vida

Catalytic [3+2] Annulation of Aminocyclopropanes for the Enantiospecific Synthesis of Cyclopentylamines

With nitrogen too: The first catalytic [3+2] annulation of aminocyclopropanes with enol ethers is reported (see scheme; Phth=phthaloyl). The reaction worked with easily accessible phthalimidocyclopropanes using 5 mol % of SnCl4 in nearly quantitative yields. Polysubstituted cyclopentylamines, which are often present in bioactive compounds, were obtained with high diastereoselectivity and enantiospecificity

Iron-Catalyzed [3+2] Annulation of Aminocyclopropanes with Aldehydes: Stereoselective Synthesis of Aminotetrahydrofurans

The first method for the [3 + 2] annulation of donor acceptor aminocyclopropanes with aldehydes is reported. The reaction is catalyzed by iron trichlorlde on alumina in yields up to 99% and with excellent cis selectivities (up to >20:1) and represents a stereoselective and atom economic access to valuable 2-aminotetrahydrofurans, which constitute the core of DNA and RNA

Synthesis of Tetrahydro-1,2-oxazines and Pyrrolidines via Cycloadditions of Donor-Acceptor Cyclobutanes and Nitrosoarenes

During efforts to expand the scope of Lewis-acid-catalyzed [4+2] cycloaddition between donor–acceptor cyclobutanes and nitrosoarenes, an unexpected formation of pyrrolidine products was discovered when 50 mol-% of MgI2 was used as a Lewis acid. It was also observed that the electronics of the nitrosoarene and judicious selection of the Lewis acid catalyst have a profound effect on the regioselectivity of the reaction

Diester-Substituted Aminocyclopropanes: Synthesis and Use in [3+2]-Annulation Reactions

In this Letter, we describe the synthesis of new donor-acceptor substituted cyclopropanes bearing various imido groups and their use in [3+2]-annulation reactions. A sequence of palladium-catalyzed vinylation and rhodium-catalyzed cyclopropanation gave access to the required cyclopropanes in only two steps and high overall yields. The obtained compounds were used successfully in the tin-catalyzed [3+2] annulation with enol ethers to give cyclopentylamine derivatives in 22-95% yield
