Study of possible \omega bound states in nuclei with the (\gamma,p) reaction
We perform calculations for \omega production in nuclei by means of the
(\gamma,p) reaction for photon energies and proton angles suited to running and
future experiments in present Laboratories. For some cases of possible \omega
optical potentials we find clear peaks which could be observable provided a
good resolution in the \omega energy is available. We also study the inclusive
production of \pi^0 \gamma in nuclei around the \omega energy and find a double
hump structure for the energy spectra, with a peak around a \pi^0 \gamma energy
of m_{\omega}-100 MeV, which could easily be misidentified by a signal of a
bound \omega state in nuclei, while it is due to a different scaling of the
uncorrelated \pi^0 \gamma production and \omega production with subsequent
\pi^0 \gamma decay.Comment: 19 pages, 10 figure
Selected topics on Hadrons in Nuclei
In this talk we report on selected topics on hadrons in nuclei. The first
topic is the renormalization of the width of the in a nuclear
medium. This is followed by a short update of the situation of the in
the medium. The investigation of the properties of in the nuclear
medium from the study of the reaction is also addressed, as
well as properties of X,Y,Z charmed and hidden charm resonances in a nuclear

Phenotypic plasticity determines differences between the skulls of tigers from mainland Asia
Tiger subspecific taxonomy is controversial because of morphological and genetic variation found between now fragmented populations, yet the extent to which phenotypic plasticity or genetic variation affects phenotypes of putative tiger subspecies has not been explicitly addressed. In order to assess the role of phenotypic plasticity in determining skull variation, we compared skull morphology among continental tigers from zoos and the wild. In turn, we examine continental tiger skulls from across their wild range, to evaluate how the different environmental conditions experienced by individuals in the wild can influence morphological variation. Fifty-seven measurements from 172 specimens were used to analyse size and shape differences among wild and captive continental tiger skulls. Captive specimens have broader skulls, and shorter rostral depths and mandible heights than wild specimens. In addition, sagittal crest size is larger in wild Amur tigers compared with those from captivity, and it is larger in wild Amur tigers compared with other wild continental tigers. The degree of phenotypic plasticity shown by the sagittal crest, skull width and rostral height suggests that the distinctive shape of Amur tiger skulls compared with that of other continental tigers is mostly a phenotypically plastic response to differences in their environments

Medium Modifications of Hadron Properties and Partonic Processes
Chiral symmetry is one of the most fundamental symmetries in QCD. It is
closely connected to hadron properties in the nuclear medium via the reduction
of the quark condensate , manifesting the partial restoration of
chiral symmetry. To better understand this important issue, a number of
Jefferson Lab experiments over the past decade have focused on understanding
properties of mesons and nucleons in the nuclear medium, often benefiting from
the high polarization and luminosity of the CEBAF accelerator. In particular, a
novel, accurate, polarization transfer measurement technique revealed for the
first time a strong indication that the bound proton electromagnetic form
factors in 4He may be modified compared to those in the vacuum. Second, the
photoproduction of vector mesons on various nuclei has been measured via their
decay to e+e- to study possible in-medium effects on the properties of the rho
meson. In this experiment, no significant mass shift and some broadening
consistent with expected collisional broadening for the rho meson has been
observed, providing tight constraints on model calculations. Finally, processes
involving in-medium parton propagation have been studied. The medium
modifications of the quark fragmentation functions have been extracted with

Skull morphology analysis suggests the extinct Cape lion, Panthera leo melanochaita (Smith, 1842), is not distinctive
The lion (Panthera leo) was extirpated from the Cape region of South Africa during the mid-nineteenth century. Whilst historically classified as a distinct subspecies known as the Cape lion (P. l. melanochaita), recent molecular studies challenge the distinctiveness of this population, suggesting that it represents the southernmost population of the species' Southern Clade. The Cape lion is often cited as having a distinctive skull morphology, which has justified its subspecific classification, but only a limited number of specimens have been available for examination, so that the Cape lion’s skull morphology has not been satisfactorily understood. In this study we collected morphometric data from a greatly enlarged sample of 22 Cape lion skulls, including 12 adults, constituting the largest sample size analysed for this possible subspecies. The results suggest that (1) morphological characteristics of the skull previously thought to distinguish the Cape lion are not diagnostic, and (2) nor is the skull morphology of male and female Cape lions distinct from that of males and females of other southern African lions. Our results independently support those based on molecular investigations, which suggest that the Cape lion was not distinct from other lions within the Southern Clade
Search for {\eta}'(958)-nucleus bound states by (p,d) reaction at GSI and FAIR
The mass of the {\eta}' meson is theoretically expected to be reduced at
finite density, which indicates the existence of {\eta}'-nucleus bound states.
To investigate these states, we perform missing-mass spectroscopy for the (p,
d) reaction near the {\eta}' production threshold. The overview of the

The {\eta}'-carbon potential at low meson momenta
The production of mesons in coincidence with forward-going
protons has been studied in photon-induced reactions on C and on a
liquid hydrogen (LH) target for incoming photon energies of 1.3-2.6 GeV at
the electron accelerator ELSA. The mesons have been identified
via the decay
registered with the CBELSA/TAPS detector system. Coincident protons have been
identified in the MiniTAPS BaF array at polar angles of . Under these kinematic constraints the
mesons are produced with relatively low kinetic energy (
150 MeV) since the coincident protons take over most of the momentum of the
incident-photon beam. For the C-target this allows the determination of the
real part of the -carbon potential at low meson momenta by
comparing with collision model calculations of the kinetic energy
distribution and excitation function. Fitting the latter data for
mesons going backwards in the center-of-mass system yields a potential depth of
V = (44 16(stat)15(syst)) MeV, consistent with earlier
determinations of the potential depth in inclusive measurements for average
momenta of 1.1 GeV/. Within the experimental
uncertainties, there is no indication of a momentum dependence of the
-carbon potential. The LH data, taken as a reference to check
the data analysis and the model calculations, provide differential and integral
cross sections in good agreement with previous results for
