Constraint on Heavy Element Production in Inhomogeneous Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis from The Light-Element Observations
We investigate the observational constraints on the inhomogeneous big-bang
nucleosynthesis that Matsuura et al. suggested the possibility of the heavy
element production beyond Li in the early universe. From the
observational constraints on light elements of He and D, possible regions
are found on the plane of the volume fraction of the high density region
against the ratio between high-and low-density regions. In these allowed
regions, we have confirmed that the heavy elements beyond Ni can be produced
appreciably, where - and/or -process elements are produced well
simultaneously.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, 4 Tables., accepted in Journal of Astrophysics.

Development of Diachronic Terminology from Japanese Statutory Corpora
This paper reports our ongoing research on the development of diachronic legal terminology, which deals with temporal changes in legal terms. We started by compiling statutory corpora for them. Focusing on articles that define legal terms, we defined a set of regular expression rules. Our experimental result showed that we successfully extracted legal terms, their explanations, and their relations. Our terminology consists of 26,661 terms and 35,201 relations, in which the precision of the relations was 88.0\% with 100 samples chosen at random. Graphical output will enrich our understanding of the dynamics of legal terms
Bell's palsy
The etiology of acute idiopathic peripheral facial palsy (Bell's palsy) remains to be clarified. Methods of the treatment of Bell's palsy currently advocated include observation alone, steroids, surgical decompression, and antiviral agents. The use of steroids in Bell's palsy was first proposed in a case report by Rothendler (1951). Since then, steroids has become the most common treatment for the Bell's palsy. However, there has been some controversy over steroids treatment. Surgical therapy has been even more controversial. Stennert (1981) reported excellent cure rates (96%) for Bell's palsy treated with high doses of steroids. Several reports supported the effectiveness of high dose steroids treatment. In this paper, it is advocated that use of high dose steroids is the first choice treatment for severe Bell's palsy
Improvement of Translation Accuracy for the Outlines of Japanese Statutes by Splitting Parenthesized Expressions
To globally share Japanese legal information, we translate the Outlines of Japanese statutes. These outlines are the official summaries of Japanese statutes and are useful to quickly understand their contents. In a previous statistical machine translation system for the outlines, we found that the training corpus consisted of both statutes and their outlines, including many long sentences that reduced the translation quality. To solve this problem, we shortened the length of sentences and focused on parenthesized expressions. In this paper, we propose a translation method that splits off parenthesized expressions from the sentences. Experimental result shows the effectiveness of our method
Daily News on Japanese Legislation toward Global Sharing of Japanese Legal Information
Our purpose in this paper is to develop a system for the international sharing of Japanese legal information. We plan to promptly provide the Outlines of all the newly promulgated Japanese statutes in English, using machine translation. Structured documents in XML format made it possible to achieve various functions concerning machine translation, text search, and display style. We developed the Document Type Definition for the Outlines based on our investigation of their structure. We also developed a rule-based annotator for the Outlines, which adequately marked up 87.2% on the Outlines of Japanese acts
The Optimal Prepregnancy Body Mass Index for Lactation in Japanese Women with Neonatal Separation as Analyzed by a Differential Equation
We used a differential equation to identify the biological relationship between the maternal prepregnancy body mass index (BMI) and lactation on postpartum day 4 in Japanese women with neonatal separation. This retro-spective observational study included 252 mothers (135 primiparas, 117 multiparas) whose singleton neonates were admitted to a neonatal ICU. We formulated hypotheses based on breast anatomy to analyze the relation-ship between the expressed milk obtained on postpartum day 4 and the maternal prepregnancy BMI with the following differential equation: y’(x) = k y(x)/x, where k is the constant, x is the prepregnancy BMI, and y is the expressed milk volume. The formula was then obtained as y(x) = axk, where a is the constant. The Akaike information criterion (AIC) was used to estimate the regression equation with the maximum likelihood for primiparas and multiparas. The best criteria for BMI determined by the AIC were 20.89 kg/m2 in primiparas and 20.19 kg/m2 in multiparas. These were the optimal BMI values for lactation, coinciding with the median prepregnancy BMI in the study population (20.78 kg/m2 in primiparas and 20.06 kg/m2 in multiparas). The formula based on biomathematics might help establish the biological relationship between prepregnancy BMI and breastmilk volume
口腔癌細胞株におけるcetuximabを介した抗体依存性細胞障害(ADCC)活性と細胞表面EGFR発現との関連
BACKGROUND/AIM: Cetuximab treatment targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) overexpressed in oral cancer. This study aimed to investigate the anti-tumour activity of cetuximab against oral cancer cell lines with respect to antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), and determine the correlation between ADCC and EGFR expression. MATERIALS AND METHODS: EGFR expression in oral cancer cells was measured by quantitative flow cytometric analysis and immunohistochemistry. ADCC activity was measured by 4-h calcein release assays. RESULTS: Cetuximab-mediated ADCC against oral cancer cells was detectable at a concentration of 0.1 μg/ml. A high correlation was observed between the number of EGFR molecules on the surface of oral cancer cells and ADCC (correlation coefficient: 0.847; p=0.032). CONCLUSION: ADCC is an important mechanism underlying the therapeutic effect of cetuximab, and EGFR expression in tumour cells might serve as a predictive marker to evaluate the effect of cetuximab treatment.博士(医学)・甲第721号・令和元年9月27日Copyright© 2019, International Institute of Anticancer Research (Dr. George J.
