    Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial of 2,3-Dihydrobenzo Thiazole-2-Carboxylic Acid Complexes with Some Selected Metal Ions

    A new ligand 2,3-dihydrobenzo [d] thiazole-2-carboxylic acid (L) has been prepared from the reaction of ortho amino phenyl thiol with dichloroacetic acid in mole ratio (1:1). It has been characterized by elemental analysis (C.H.N.), IR, UV- Vis.spectraand 1H, 13C-NMR. A new series complexes of the bivalent ions (Co, Ni, Cu, Pd, Cd, Hg and Pb) and the trivalent (Cr) have been prepared and characterized too. The structural has been established by elemental analysis (C.H.N.), IR, UV-Vis. spectra, molar conductivity, atomic absorption and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The synthesized complexes were prepared in (1:2) ratio correspond to (Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Pd(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II) complexes while in case Cr(III) complex is (1:1) ratio (M:L). ?, Kf for (Cr(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)) were estimated too. The complexes showed characteristics octahedral geometry with the (O,N) ligand coordinated in bidentate mode except with Pd showed square planer. The study of biological activity of ligand (L) and its complexes showed various activities toward Staphylococcus aureusand E. coli

    Evaluating the Saudi EFL Teachers’ Perceptions of Concept Mapping Instruction: A Pedagogical Perspective

    The current study evaluated the Saudi EFL teachers’ perceptions of using concept mapping as an instruction method for teaching English to Saudi Middle school students. In this regard, the current study investigated the Saudi EFL teachers of employing the concept mapping instruction in terms of various elements, namely its benefits, challenges, learning outcomes, students’ comprehension of language content, and students’ retention of language knowledge. Data was elicited through a 35-item questionnaire that was divided into six parts. The study employed a qualitative research design to gather insights into the Saudi EFL teachers’ perceptions regarding various elements of the concept mapping implementation. The sample comprised 40 (n=40) Saudi EFL teachers from 12 Middle Schools across Al-Majmaah city selected through purposive sampling. The findings align with existing literature, highlighting the potential of concept mapping to enhance students’ active engagement, critical thinking, knowledge retention, language abilities, and content comprehension, as well as the challenges faced by teachers during implementation. The pedagogical implications recommended incorporating the concept mapping into educational policies, curriculum design, and Saudi EFL teachers’ training programs in order to enhance the quality and effectiveness of English language teaching in the Saudi EFL context

    Implementation of remote sensing for vegetation studying using vegetation indices and automatic feature space plot

    Remote sensing techniques play an important role for monitoring vegetation growth and health, as well as others Landcover and Landuse. Image segmentation techniques are the most important tools, usually used to differentiate between the Earth’s surface features. One of the most common techniques to isolating the vegetated area from other land use regions is by utilizing the vegetation indices. In this research, different vegetation indices will be utilized for detecting and monitoring vegetation greenness, healthiness, and wetness. A new adaptive technique for image segmentation has been introduced in this research is automatic feature space plot, this based on partitioning the feature space plot between the visible Red and Near-Infrared remotely sensed bands. The multi temporal Enhanced-Thematic-Mapper plus (ETM+) available scenes have been used to cover the studied areas, in two successive years (2001 and 2002). This feature space plot segmentation method divided the reflectance diagram in two regions; these were vegetation and no-vegetation. A variety of indices formulas have also been used to globalize the vegetation patches, three of these vegetation indices have been adopted (i.e. RVI, NDVI and IPVI). The “NDVI” has higher recognized vegetated areas than other adopted indices of the amount of vegetation (ripe vegetation). Image binarization method being followed the implementation of the indices to isolating the vegetation areas from the image background. The isolated vegetated areas and their percentages are presented in tables to show the agriculture regions in two multi temporal scenes. The changes at these agriculture areas have also been computed and presented visually on the form of images, and numerically by listing them in tables (in km2). The counted areas resulted from the automatic feature space plot method and the isolated vegetated areas resulted from the implementation of the vegetation indices are also presented.     A Novel Cooperative Controller for Inverters of Smart Hybrid AC/DC Microgrids

    This paper presents a novel cooperative control technique concerning fully-distributed AC/DC microgrids. Distributed generation based on inverters has two types, i.e., Current Source Inverter (CSI), also referred to as PQ inverter, and Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). Both inverter forms have a two-layer coordination mechanism. This paper proposes a design method for the digital Proportional-Resonant (PR) controller that regulates the current inside an inverter. The inverters will improve the voltage quality of the microgrid while maintaining the average voltage of buses at the same desired level. There is comprehensive detail on the computations specific to resonant and proportional gains and digital resonance path coefficients. The paper includes a digital PR controller design and its analysis in the frequency domain. The analysis is based on the w-domain. The main contribution of this paper is the proposed method, which not only focuses on the transient response but also improves the steady-state response which smoothens the voltage; furthermore, all inverters are effectively involved to increase the capacity of the microgrid for better power management. The suggested cooperative control technique is used on an IEEE 14-bus system having fully distributed communication. The convincing outcomes indicate that the suggested control technique is an effectual means of regulating the microgrid’s voltage to obtain an evener and steady voltage profile. The microgrid comprises distributed resources and is used as the primary element to analyse power flow and quality indicators associated with a smart grid. Lastly, numerical simulation observations are utilised for substantiating the recommended algorithm

    Statics and Dynamics of Strongly Charged Soft Matter

    Soft matter materials, such as polymers, membranes, proteins, are often electrically charged. This makes them water soluble, which is of great importance in technological application and a prerequisite for biological function. We discuss a few static and dynamic systems that are dominated by charge effects. One class comprises complexation between oppositely charged objects, for example the adsorption of charged ions or charged polymers (such as DNA) on oppositely charged substrates of different geometry. The second class comprises effective interactions between similarly charged objects. Here the main theme is to understand the experimental finding that similarly and highly charged bodies attract each other in the presence of multi-valent counterions. This is demonstrated using field-theoretic arguments as well as Monte-Carlo simulations for the case of two homogeneously charged bodies. Realistic surfaces, on the other hand, are corrugated and also exhibit modulated charge distributions, which is important for static properties such as the counterion-density distribution, but has even more pronounced consequences for dynamic properties such as the counterion mobility. More pronounced dynamic effects are obtained with highly condensed charged systems in strong electric fields. Likewise, an electrostatically collapsed highly charged polymer is unfolded and oriented in strong electric fields. At the end of this review, we give a very brief account of the behavior of water at planar surfaces and demonstrate using ab-initio methods that specific interactions between oppositely charged groups cause ion-specific effects that have recently moved into the focus of interest.Comment: 61 pages, 31 figures, Physics Reports (2005)-in press (high quality figures available from authors

    The Dynamics of Food Web Model with Defensive Switching Property

    In this paper, a food web model consisting of two-predator one-prey with the defensive switching of predation avoidance is proposed and analyzed. It is assumed that the prey growth logistically in the absence of predators and defends itself from relatively abundant predator species by switching to another habitat with relatively rare predator species. Sufficient conditions for the stability of the non-trivial equilibrium point are obtained. The Lyapunov function is constructed to establish the global asymptotic stability of the non-trivial equilibrium point when the intensity of defensive switching equal one. Numerical simulations for different sets of parameter values and for different sets of initial conditions are carried out. It has been shown that the system has a globally asymptotically stable non-trivial point when the two predators have the same mortality rates

    The effects of phytoestrogens Matricaria recutita on growth, maturation of oocytes in the three spot gourami (Trichogaster trichopterus)

    Chamomile is a rich source of phytoestrogens; these compounds have antioxidant, anticancer. In this study, the effects of chamomile on growing oocytes in immature female gourami fish were examined. Thus 60 immature female gourami fish with an average weight of 2-3 g of 6-treated group were analyzed. Treatments in a completely randomized experimental design with a dose of chamomile (10-20-30-50 mg/kg fish) along with control (no injection) and ethanol control (solvent injection) and with three replicates were tested. The fish adaptation to the environment lasted 3 days. The extract injections were done for 20 days, in 10 periods, every other day. In order to histological study, three days after end of the experiment, the ovarian tissue was removed and weighed, tissue processing and staining steps done with hematoxylin- eosin. At last the histological structure of the ovaries and the average percentage of treated fish gonadal indices were compared with the control group. According to our results of gonadal index, there was no significant difference between the control groups with receiving Ethanol (p>0.05). Histological results showed that increasing the dose of chamomile extract accelerate oocyte maturation in three spot gourami. This is the fourth treatment (dose, mg / kg 50) to show its obvious. The difference between oocyte diameter was observed with increasing doses of Chamomile and in comparison with the control group, the difference was significant (p <0.05).     Drag forces on inclusions in classical fields with dissipative dynamics

    We study the drag force on uniformly moving inclusions which interact linearly with dynamical free field theories commonly used to study soft condensed matter systems. Drag forces are shown to be nonlinear functions of the inclusion velocity and depend strongly on the field dynamics. The general results obtained can be used to explain drag forces in Ising systems and also predict the existence of drag forces on proteins in membranes due to couplings to various physical parameters of the membrane such as composition, phase and height fluctuations.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figure

    Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Semiflexible Polyampholyte Brushes - The Effect of Charged Monomers Sequence

    Planar brushes formed by end-grafted semiflexible polyampholyte chains, each chain containing equal number of positively and negatively charged monomers is studied using molecular dynamics simulations. Keeping the length of the chains fixed, dependence of the average brush thickness and equilibrium statistics of the brush conformations on the grafting density and the salt concentration are obtained with various sequences of charged monomers. When similarly charged monomers of the chains are arranged in longer blocks, the average brush thickness is smaller and dependence of brush properties on the grafting density and the salt concentration is stronger. With such long blocks of similarly charged monomers, the anchored chains bond to each other in the vicinity of the grafting surface at low grafting densities and buckle toward the grafting surface at high grafting densities.Comment: 8 pages,7 figure
