CUSTOMER SATISFACTION TOWARDS HOSPITALS A STUDY ON SELECTED HOSPITALS AT SHIVAMOGGA CITY The opening of Indian economy since 1991 has given a new dimension to the economic structure of the country. The service sector is contributing more than 50% to the GDP. In service sector the contribution of healthcare sector towards GDP is significant.  India will spend a huge          Rs 200,000 crore on healthcare in the next five years as the country witnessing changes in its demographic profile accompanied with lifestyle diseases and increasing medical expenses. Nearly 80 per cent of the required investment is coming from the private sector. The government spending on healthcare is around 0.9 per cent of the total GDP, which limits the extent and effectiveness of the coverage it can provide. Private healthcare will continue to be the largest component in 2012 and is likely to double to    Rs 156,000 crore.  Therefore the study focuses on services provided by private hospitals.   Â

The corona-19 pandemic has pervaded into every nook & corner of the world. Since the entire globe has announced lockdown for uncertain period, the commercial activity has pushed the indicators of economic health in a state of depression. A multi-centered approach is the need of the hour to take the economy out of this crisis. In India on May 12th, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, announced a special economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore with the aim of making the country independent against the tough competition in the global supply chain and to help in empowering the people who have been adversely affected by COVID. In order to achieve this vision, India needs to focus on holistic and sustainable development. The formation of SHGs is a holistic program with an objective to bring the rural entrepreneurs in a platform and encourage them to initiate innovation. This research paper makes an attempt to study the potentialities of Self Help Group ( SHGs) in strengthening economy of India to support Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan

Genetic mapping of Z chromosome and identification of W chromosome-specific markers in the silkworm, Bombyx mori

    Get PDF
In the silkworm, Bombyx mori, the female is the heterogametic (ZW) sex and the male is homogametic (ZZ). The female heterogamety is a typical situation in the insect order Lepidoptera. Although the W chromosome in silkworm is strongly female determining, no W-linked gene for a morphological character has been found on it. The Z chromosome carries important traits of economic value as well as genes for various phenotypic traits, but only 2% of molecular information based on its relative size is known. Studies conducted so far indicate that the Z-linked genes are not dosage compensated. In the present study, we constructed a genetic map of randomly amplified polymorphic DNA fragments (RAPD), simple sequence repeats (SSR), and fluorescent intersimple sequence repeat PCR (FISSR) markers for the Z chromosome using a backcross mapping population. A total of 16 Z-linked markers were identified, characterized, and mapped using od, a recessive trait for translucent skin as an anchor marker yielding a total recombination map of 334.5 cM. The linkage distances obtained suggested that the markers were distributed throughout the Z chromosome. Four RAPD and four SSR markers that were linked to W chromosome were also identified. The proposed mapping approach should be useful to identify and map sex-linked traits in the silkworm. The economic and evolutionary significance of Z- and W-linked genes in silkworm, in particular, and lepidopterans, in general, is discussed

    Cashew research in India

    Get PDF
Cashew, after its introduction from Brazil during the 16th Century, has established very well in India. A total of 40 high-yielding varieties have been released so far by the Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur, and various Agricultural Universities, for cultivation. Of these, 13 are hybrids and 27 are selections. Research achievements in the area of crop improvement, management, protection and post-harvest technology over the last six decades are reviewed and documented here. As India has been importing raw nuts to the tune of 6.5 lakh tons annually to cater the demand of established processing factories, research priorities have been identified to meet the challenges of enhancing production and productivity of cashew in the country

Comparison of bacterial biofilm communities using barcoded pyrosequencing and analysis to determine origin of biofilm fouling of reverse osmosis membranes in a full scale desalination system

    Get PDF
Biofouling is the single most important issue in reverse osmosis sea water desalination worldwide (Ridgway et al., 1999) and may account for up to 50% of energy use. Which species are responsible and their origin is unclear. With the advent of next generation sequencing, species diversity and transience can be examined at orders of magnitude greater detail than was previously possible. We found many similarities in bacterial families across source water, prefiltration units and membranes in this study and in the few other studies available, despite disparate locations and seasons. Key groups included members of the Bacteroidetes (e. Flavobacteriaceae), Planctomycetes, Alphaproteobacteria (eg. Rhodobacteraceae, Sphingomonadales), Betaproteobacteria (eg. Burkholderia) and Gammaproteobacteria (eg. Oceanospirillales, Xanthomonadaceae). Despite similarities in families, the predominant fouling species on reverse osmosis (RO) membranes appear to differ between studies. This seems likely to reflect a common origin (seawater) but subsequent adaptation or selective pressures in different niches, particularly on RO membranes under high pressure and salt concentration. We can now select environmental isolates from our culture collection representing key bacterial groups responsible for biofouling in seawater systems. This will enable more accurate evaluation of the effectiveness of anti-fouling strategies

Chiral Solitons in a Current Coupled Schr\"odinger Equation With Self Interaction

Recently non-topological chiral soliton solutions were obtained in a derivatively coupled non-linear Schr\"odinger model in 1+1 dimensions. We extend the analysis to include a more general self-coupling potential (which includes the previous cases) and find chiral soliton solutions. Interestingly even the magnitude of the velocity is found to be fixed. Energy and U(1) charge associated with this non-topological chiral solitons are also obtained.Comment: 8 pages, no figure, to appear in Phys. Rev.

Probabilistic Analysis of Facility Location on Random Shortest Path Metrics

    Get PDF
The facility location problem is an NP-hard optimization problem. Therefore, approximation algorithms are often used to solve large instances. Such algorithms often perform much better than worst-case analysis suggests. Therefore, probabilistic analysis is a widely used tool to analyze such algorithms. Most research on probabilistic analysis of NP-hard optimization problems involving metric spaces, such as the facility location problem, has been focused on Euclidean instances, and also instances with independent (random) edge lengths, which are non-metric, have been researched. We would like to extend this knowledge to other, more general, metrics. We investigate the facility location problem using random shortest path metrics. We analyze some probabilistic properties for a simple greedy heuristic which gives a solution to the facility location problem: opening the κ\kappa cheapest facilities (with κ\kappa only depending on the facility opening costs). If the facility opening costs are such that κ\kappa is not too large, then we show that this heuristic is asymptotically optimal. On the other hand, for large values of κ\kappa, the analysis becomes more difficult, and we provide a closed-form expression as upper bound for the expected approximation ratio. In the special case where all facility opening costs are equal this closed-form expression reduces to O(ln(n)4)O(\sqrt[4]{\ln(n)}) or O(1)O(1) or even 1+o(1)1+o(1) if the opening costs are sufficiently small.Comment: A preliminary version accepted to CiE 201

A new, simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of some sulfonamide drugs has been developed. The method is based on the diazotisation of sulfacetamide, sulfadiazine, sulfaguanidine, sulfamerazine, sulfamethazine, sulfamethoxazole and coupling with 8-hydroxyquinoline in alkaline media to yield red coloured products, with absorption maximum at 500 nm. The Beer’s law is obeyed from 0.17.0 µg mL1. The limits of quantification and limits of detection were 0.110.18 and 0.030.5 µg mL1, respectively. Intraday precision (RSD 0.10.5%) and accuracy (recovery 97.3100.8) of the developed method were evaluated. No interference was observed from common adjuvants. The method has been successfully applied to the assay of sulpha drug in the pharmaceutical formulations.U radu je opisana nova, jednostavna i osjetljiva spektrofotometrijska metoda za određivanje sulfonamida. Beerov zakon vrijedi u koncentracijskom rasponu 0,17,0 µg mL1.
