The aim of our study was to compare the libido and semen characteristics in 24 rabbits of local and synthetic line during summer season. Results showed that both breeds had similar (p ˃0.05) libido (13.92 vs 16.85 s). Gel free volume (0.88 vs. 0.87 mL), pH (7.51 vs. 7.65), and live sperm (56.21 vs. 55.88%) were similar. Local population had higher semen concentration (398.50 x106 /mL vs. 328.90 x106 /mL) and percentage of abnormal spermatozoa (36.54 vs 30.28%). Massal and individual motility (p=0.006 and p=0.008) were significantly increased in local population. Kinetic traits for Local population were significantly greater (P<0.05), except for VCL, ALH and BCF. We conclude that, rabbit bucks of local population had a good ability of adaptation to produce in a hot climate

Encore: Lightweight Measurement of Web Censorship with Cross-Origin Requests

Despite the pervasiveness of Internet censorship, we have scant data on its extent, mechanisms, and evolution. Measuring censorship is challenging: it requires continual measurement of reachability to many target sites from diverse vantage points. Amassing suitable vantage points for longitudinal measurement is difficult; existing systems have achieved only small, short-lived deployments. We observe, however, that most Internet users access content via Web browsers, and the very nature of Web site design allows browsers to make requests to domains with different origins than the main Web page. We present Encore, a system that harnesses cross-origin requests to measure Web filtering from a diverse set of vantage points without requiring users to install custom software, enabling longitudinal measurements from many vantage points. We explain how Encore induces Web clients to perform cross-origin requests that measure Web filtering, design a distributed platform for scheduling and collecting these measurements, show the feasibility of a global-scale deployment with a pilot study and an analysis of potentially censored Web content, identify several cases of filtering in six months of measurements, and discuss ethical concerns that would arise with widespread deployment

Mitigating the effect of shipping on freshwater megafauna: the case study of the Yangtze finless porpoise

Shipping has increasingly become a major threat to cetaceans due to its direct effect (e.g. ship strikes) and indirect effects (e.g. noise and habitat displacement). Most previous studies have focused on the deleterious effects of shipping traffic on marine species, while the effect of shipping on freshwater cetaceans has received little attention. The Yangtze River is a major trade artery in China, and shipping traffic there caused deaths of the now-extinct Yangtze river dolphin or baiji (Lipotes vexillifer). Here, we examine the distributional overlap of another cetacean species, the critically endangered Yangtze finless porpoise (Neophocoena asiaorientalis asiaorientalis) and cargo ships in a busy section of Yangtze River from Ezhou to Zhenjiang City. We use vessel-based survey data from 2006, 2012, and 2017 to quantify the distribution of porpoise. We use satellite images to quantify the distribution of cargo vessels travelling upstream. Most porpoise were concentrated within 300 m of the river banks. Shipping increased by 65% from 2006 to 2017, and ~ 60% of the upstream vessels was also within 300 m of the banks. This increase in shipping may have caused an observed shift in porpoise distribution away from the banks after 2006. Enhanced enforcement of existing shipping regulations that limit vessels to established shipping lane and set refuges in the side channels could help reduce the distributional overlap of porpoise and ships and aid in porpoise conservation. This could be applied and benefit the cetacean conservation under continued growth of shipping in rivers

Programas educativos modulares basados en competencias

It has been established that the basic documents on the development of higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan declared the principles of competence approach and modular learning, but in practice, their implementation is faced with certain difficulties and that it is particularly difficult to implement the competency-based approach in the absence of professional standards. In this regard, the goal was set to develop a methodology for the formation of integrated standards and implement it for a modular educational program of any specialty. The essence of this methodology consists in that the development of an integrated standard is not a single process. It is divided because at the initial stage the representatives of the education sphere determine only the expanded list of competencies, then the employers enter the process independently on them, and the faculty formulates the learning outcomes only after specification of the competences’ list. To achieve this goal, an algorithm for the development of modular educational programs has been created, methods of document analysis, retrospective analysis and questionnaires were applied, experimental work on the formation of the list of competencies was carried out. The experts who participated in assessing the competencies importance showed the high qualifications, good knowledge in the labor market and the skill to formulate the required data. On the basis of this list, the list of necessary competencies for “Computer science and software” specialty has been compiled.

Confinement of fractional excitations in a triangular lattice antiferromagnet

High-resolution neutron and THz spectroscopies are used to study the magnetic excitation spectrum of Cs2_2CoBr4_4, a distorted-triangular-lattice antiferromagnet with nearly XY-type anisotropy. What was previously thought of as a broad excitation continuum [Phys. Rev. Lett. 129, 087201 (2022)] is shown to be a series of dispersive bound states reminiscent of "Zeeman ladders" in quasi-one-dimensional Ising systems. At wave vectors where inter-chain interactions cancel at the Mean Field level, they can indeed be interpreted as bound finite-width kinks in individual chains. Elsewhere in the Brillouin zone their true two-dimensional structure and propagation are revealed.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figure

The effect of curricular and extracurricular activities on university students? entrepreneurial intention and competences

This study examines how the alliance-building process affects the intention to enter into international alliances in the case of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). From a psychological perspective (Perceived Behavioural Control), the authors analyse the alliance-building process as an inhibitor of the international collaboration intention, considering to what extent the experience affects the intention of the partners involved. The study explores these hypotheses based on a sample of 220 Spanish SMEs. The results provide empirical evidence showing that the intention to develop international alliances is negatively affected by the search and the selection process as well as by the negotiation of the agreement, which reduces the intention to establish an international agreement. In addition, the intention is moderated by the experience of the SME manager. Moreover, there is a negative relationship between the extent of the SME manager's international experience and the intention to develop an international alliance
