A New Block S-Random Interleaver for Shorter Length Frames for Turbo Codes

    Get PDF
In this paper, we have proposed a new design of interleaver based on S-random and block interleaver. The characteristics of both block and S-random interleaver are used by this proposed interleaver.  There is a large influence of free distance in turbo codes due to interleaving as it lowers the error floor. The free distance of turbo codes can be increased by designing interleaver with high spread. In this case, the overall spreading factor is increased significantly for smaller length frames also. The simulations results are compared with full S-random interleavers. The bit error rate performance of proposed interleaver for Turbo codes is much better than full s-random interleaver at the cost of small delay

Zinc was applied @ 0, 5.5 kg as basal and 0.1% Zn as foliar application. Seven green gram genotypes viz. Asha, Basanti, Satya, MH- 421, MH 318, and MH-565 were selected for the study. Pods per plant, seeds per pod and seed weight significantly increased with the application of Zn which ultimately increased the yield of seed and straw of all the green gram genotypes. However, application of 5.5 kg Zn ha-1 increased the yield of straw by 30.8% which was better as compare to foliar treatment. The maximum Zn concentration in straw and seed (about 5 and 3 folds over control) was achieved when foliar spray was made. Soil application of Zn increased the seed crude protein content by 9.96 % over controlNot Availabl

Antibody adsorption on the surface of water studied by neutron reflection

Surface and interfacial adsorption of antibody molecules could cause structural unfolding and desorbed molecules could trigger solution aggregation, resulting in the compromise of physical stability. Although antibody adsorption is important and its relevance to many mechanistic processes has been proposed, few techniques can offer direct structural information about antibody adsorption under different conditions. The main aim of this study was to demonstrate the power of neutron reflection to unravel the amount and structural conformation of the adsorbed antibody layers at the air/water interface with and without surfactant, using a monoclonal antibody ‘COE-3′ as the model. By selecting isotopic contrasts from different ratios of H(2)O and D(2)O, the adsorbed amount, thickness and extent of the immersion of the antibody layer could be determined unambiguously. Upon mixing with the commonly-used non-ionic surfactant Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80), the surfactant in the mixed layer could be distinguished from antibody by using both hydrogenated and deuterated surfactants. Neutron reflection measurements from the co-adsorbed layers in null reflecting water revealed that, although the surfactant started to remove antibody from the surface at 1/100 critical micelle concentration (CMC) of the surfactant, complete removal was not achieved until above 1/10 CMC. The neutron study also revealed that antibody molecules retained their globular structure when either adsorbed by themselves or co-adsorbed with the surfactant under the conditions studied

Copper availability as related to soil copper fractions in oxisols under liming Calagem e os teores disponíveis e as frações de cobre em latossolos

The knowledge of the chemical forms of copper in soils and the relationships of these forms with soil copper availability are important for predicting the copper behavior in the soil-plant system. The present work studies the influence of liming on the available contents of copper as well as on the forms of copper fractions in six types of Oxisols. Soil samples, with and without liming, received copper at rates of 0.0, 20.0 and 40.0 mg dm-3 and remained incubated for 30 days. Then, available copper was extracted with Mehlich-1, Mehlich-3, DTPA and EDTA solutions, and analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Additionally, soil samples were extracted in a sequential procedure to determine Cu in fractions of soil, as follows: exchangeable-Cu fraction, organic matter-Cu fraction, Mn oxide-Cu fraction, amorphous Fe oxide-Cu fraction, crystalline Fe oxide-Cu fraction, residual-Cu fraction, and the total Cu content in the soil. Soil samples to which Cu was added presented higher Cu retention in the organic matter fraction with a small percentage retained in the exchangeable-Cu fraction. Liming resulted in a decrease of Cu in the exchangeable and organic matter fractions and an increase in the Fe and Mn oxide fractions and in the residual fraction. Without liming, the organic matter fraction presented the highest contribution to Cu content found in the soil extracts obtained with all extractors, except EDTA.
