Rain Effect Frequency of Infiltration Rate and Infiltration Capacity in Common Soil: Laboratory Test with Rainfall Simulator
Analyzing the Influence of Rain Frequency Infiltration Rate and Infiltration Capacity in Common Soil Type (Laboratory Testing Study With Rainfall Simulator). Infiltration is the flow of water into the ground through the soil surface. This process is a very important part of the hydrological cycle and in the process of transferring rain into the flow of water in the soil before reaching the river. Infiltration (infiltration rate and capacity) is influenced by various variables, including soil type, slope inclination, density and type of vegetation, soil moisture content, and rainfall intensity. This study aims to determine the effect of rainfall frequency on the infiltration rate and infiltration capacity on common soil types. This research is a type of laboratory experimental research, using rainfall simulator tool. The soil used in this study is common soil type. Furthermore, artificial rain was provided with intensity I5, I15, and I25 and performed infiltration rate reading on the Drain Rainfall Simulator. The rate and capacity of infiltration in common soils increase proportionally to the increased intensity of rainfall, the higher the intensity of rainfall the higher the infiltration occurring at the same level of rain frequency. The rate and capacity of infiltration in common soils decrease proportionally to the increasing frequency of rain, the more the frequency of rain the smaller the infiltration occurring at the same level of rainfall intensit
Digestate: The Coproduct of Biofuel Production in a Circular Economy, and New Results for Cassava Peeling Residue Digestate
Circular economic paradigm applies residue from one process as input material for another, fostering sustainable benefits for humanity. Anaerobic digestion (AD) is an attractive technology for biogas production in a circular economy. Digestate is the residual organic matter generated as coproduct of biogas. Because digestate is nutrient rich and largely stabilized, it has varied management options. Digestate is suitable for direct use as bio-fertilizer and is a good amendment material to improve soil physical properties. However, the quality, safety, and utility of digestate are dependent upon the characteristics of feedstock, digester process, pre- and post- digestion treatments. Digestates emanating from AD of animal manure, energy crops, food processing residues, and other feedstocks have been reported in published literature. On the other hand, there is dearth of reports on digestate emanating from AD process that utilized cassava peeling residue (CPR) as sole feedstock. This chapter presents relevant information on digestates including production, feedstock, quality and safety requirements, processing and treatment technologies, regulatory aspects, applications management options, cost implications, as well as challenges and opportunities. In addition, new results of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) compositions of liquid fraction of CPR digestate are reported
Stoner gap in the superconducting ferromagnet UGe2
We report the temperature () dependence of ferromagnetic Bragg peak
intensities and dc magnetization of the superconducting ferromagnet UGe2 under
pressure (). We have found that the low- behavior of the uniform
magnetization can be explained by a conventional Stoner model. A functional
analysis of the data produces the following results: The ferromagnetic state
below a critical pressure can be understood as the perfectly polarized state,
in which heavy quasiparticles occupy only majority spin bands. A Stoner gap
decreases monotonically with increasing pressure and increases
linearly with magnetic field. We show that the present analysis based on the
Stoner model is justified by a consistency check, i.e., comparison of density
of states at the Fermi energy deduced from the analysis with observed
electronic specific heat coeffieients. We also argue the influence of the
ferromagnetism on the superconductivity.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures. to be published in Phys. Rev.
Kagom\'{e} ice state in the dipolar spin ice Dy_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}
We have investigated the kagom\'{e} ice behavior of the dipolar spin-ice
compound Dy_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7} in magnetic field along a [111] direction using
neutron scattering and Monte Carlo simulations. The spin correlations show that
the kagom\'{e} ice behavior predicted for the nearest-neighbor (NN) interacting
model, where the field induces dimensional reduction and spins are frustrated
in each two-dimensional kagom\'{e} lattice, occurs in the dipole interacting
system. The spins freeze at low temperatures within the macroscopically
degenerate ground states of the NN model.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, submitted to PR
Magnetic structure, phase diagram, and a new type of spin-flop transition dominated by higher order interaction in a localized 5f system U3Pd20Si6
The magnetic structure of the localized-5f uranium intermetallic compound U3Pd20Si6 has been determined by means of a neutron diffraction experiment. Our data demonstrate that this compound has a collinear coupling of the sublattice ordering of the uranium spins on the 4a and 8c sites. We conclude that higher-order exchange and/or quadrupole interactions are necessary to stabilize this unique collinear structure. We discovered a new type of spin-flop transition against the uniaxial anisotropy induced by this collinear coupling
Observation of Modulated Quadrupolar Structures in PrPb3
Neutron diffraction measurements have been performed on the cubic compound
PrPb3 in a [001] magnetic field to examine the quadrupolar ordering.
Antiferromagnetic components with q=(1/2+-d 1/2 0), (1/2 1/2+-d 0) (d~1/8) are
observed below the transition temperature TQ (0.4 K at H=0) whose amplitudes
vary linear with H and vanish at zero field, providing the first evidence for a
modulated quadrupolar phase. For H<1 T, a non-square modulated state persists
even below 100 mK suggesting quadrupole moments associated with a Gamma3
doublet ground state to be partially quenched by hybridization with conduction
electrons.Comment: Physical Review Letters, in press. 4 pages, 4 figure
