Status of Health related Quality of life between HBV and HCV Patients of Pakistan
The aim of the study is to explore the factors those differentiate health related quality of life (HRQOL) among hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) patients. Different public and private hospitals of Sargodha district were visited and 120 patients of hepatitis B and C were interviewed. World health related quality of life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire was used to construct HRQOL instrument. Multiple regression analysis was performed to observe the collision of demographic, medical, economic and physical and psychological factors on patients HRQOL. Results showed that HBV patients enjoyed better HRQOL then HCV patients. 86.4% HCV patients faces death threat while, 67.3% HBV faces this threat. 93.5% HBV patients feels depression while, 97.8% HCV patients feels depression. Urban patients HRQOL scores were superior then rural patients in both HCV and HBV case. Moreover, male patients HRQOL scores were better as compared to female patients. Age of the patient, disease severity, use of drug, pain, depression, financial hindrance and threat of death negatively influence the HRQOL of both HBV and HCV patients while, vaccination, income, sleep, opportunity of leisure and better living condition were positively related to HRQOL.Sargodha; HBV; HCV; Pakistan
EFFECT OF SELF-EFFICACY ON STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN SCIENCE: A CASE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN PAKISTAN
The current study aimed to investigate the effect of self-efficacy on students’ achievement in science. The case of secondary school science students’ is examined to achieve this task. The study is based on Bandura's Theory of Self-Efficacy, which divides Academic, Social and Emotional self-efficacy in three categories. The Questionnaire ‘Self-efficacy Questionnaire for Children (SEQ-C) developed by (Muris, 2001) was adapted in the present study to quantify secondary school students’ and was administered to 811 students. The achievements of students in science subjects governed by their academic, social and emotional self-efficacy were statistically examined to meet the research objectives. Findings revealed that secondary school students have a stronger academic and social self-efficacy. The need to assimilate content for developing emotional self-efficacy among students is highlighted. The study also discovered the significant impacts of parents’ job status and the qualifications on children’s self-efficacy. Article visualizations
A Review on Validation of Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (Elisa) Techniques for Detection and Quantification of Different Contaminant in Aquatic Environment
In world, contaminants and microbes are considered as serious problem in house water supplies as well as in aquatic environment for life. As a result, different countries are working to set level of these contaminants and microbes in domestic supply of water and in aquatic environment. In addition to these scientists are also working on reliable sampling and then their suitable analysis method for accuracy. It is also very important to improve and give justification for analytical techniques used in laboratories, which enable us to monitor level of various contaminants in aquatic environment. In this review, we have focused on quantitative value of limit detection and satisfactory accuracy level for different water contaminants detected by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The correlation (r) value between detection limit and various ELISA techniques is 0.16 and their regression (R2) value is 0.027. While, r value for antibody and contaminants in relation to limit detection is 0.081 and -0.046 and their R2 value is 0.15 and 0.015. Similarly, analysis was also performed to check relationship of satisfactory accuracy level with techniques, antibodies and contaminants and their values for r is -0.032, -0.032 and 0.064. Value of R for satisfactory accuracy level in relation to techniques, antibodies and contaminants is 0.72, 0.072 and 0.150. Obtained results allow us to check and to set the level of contaminants in house supply water samples. We should work to set standard level of these contaminants for drinking and house supplier water and then published according to WHO requirements for healthy life
Resilience of the Genus Agaricus to Climatic Variability in and around Ayubia National Park, Pakistan
The environment is being altered very quickly with the passage of time. No doubt human activities have a main role in the enhancement of certain environmental issues and these problems are affecting the natural biomes and the ecosystem world over. The biodiversity has to face these cascading problems and have to compete for their natural habitat. These environmental threats have pushed unique biodiversity at the edge of the extinction. The present study was focused to examine these issues for the members of genus Agaricus
Solventless Extraction of Essential Oil
Essential oil is one of an important concentrated liquid that possesses many physical, chemical and pharmacological properties. Extraction of essential is one of the main issues in the last decade. Conventional treatment consisting of hydrodistillation and steam distillation has many disadvantages and finds difficult to purify essential oil. Now, it is much easier to extract essential oil with the invention of new greener technologies that reduce the involvement of solvent, decrease the extraction time, energy and descent the interaction of the concentrated volatile liquid with atmospheric oxygen through the application of vacuum
