TREE INVENTORY IN THE HISTORICAL GARDEN OF TELEKI CASTLE USING THE TREE PLOTTER SOFTWARE

    Get PDF
In order to create strategies for landscape protection, management and planning accurate data is needed. To develop the tree inventory for the historical garden of the Teleki Castle in Gornești, and establish a baseline for future monitoring, field data from around 618 trees was collected during the summer of 2019 and processed and analyzed using the Tree Plotter software. The information provided by the tree inventory can be used by the local administrator for better decision making regarding green space planning and management. This data also provides a basis for monitoring changes occured in the garden over time

DYNAMIC BALANCE OF SOLAR RADIATION MEASURED AT TOMATO LEAFS IN FIELD AND GREENHOUSE

    No full text
The aim of the research was to investigate the way in which the intensity of solar radiation, at different hours of the day, influences the tomato plants grown in greenhouse and field conditions. The experiments underlying the research were located in the area of Cluj-Napoca. The assimilation of the radiation by the tomato plants has an important role for farmers growing tomatoes in greenhouses in geographic regions above 45 degrees north and south latitude

STRAWBERRY FIELD CULTURE IN TRANSYLVANIA: PREPLANT, PLANTING AND POSTPLANTING CONSIDERATION ON BLACK PLASTIC MULCH

Fragaria×ananassa, is mostly consumed fresh and in food processing due to its high nutritive value. In order to meet the increasing demand for its fruits, the production practices for this crop have to be improved and also expanded. A field study was carried out during 2017-2018 at Aghires Fabrici, a 35 km from Cluj Napoca city area, in the westhern part of Romania, to evaluate the growth of strawberries cv. Albion, Darselect and Vibrant in response to the climate. Small plants were transplanted late of September on raised-beds in a completely randomized block design and observed in May. The results revealed that Albion plants are less affected by the transplantation process with a 12% of dead plants, followed by Vibrand with 18% and Darselect with 32%. Also, the vegetative growth showed similarities between the three species, while the capacity of fruiting was double for Albion and Darselect comparing to Vibrant

THE INFLUENCE OF GREEN FERTILIZATION ON THE WEIGHT OF SEEDS FROM SIX VARIETIES OF LINUM USITATISSIMUM FOR OIL EXTRACTION

    No full text
The paper presents partial results of the research regarding the influence of some technological factors on the evolution of the Linum usitatissimum culture in the specific conditions of Transylvania. This research has the main focus on the influence of green fertilization on the production of linseed for oil. The experiments underlying the research were located in the vicinity of Sibiu. Six varieties of Linum usitatissimum (Alexin, Geria, Lirina, Cristina, Fluin, Elan FD) were tested under different fertilization conditions (unfertilized, green fertilizer, mineral fertilizer) to determine their influence on the quality of linseeds for oil extraction

INVENTORY OF WOODY SPECIES IN ROMANIAN HISTORICAL GARDENS FOR ESTIMATING THE IRRIGATION WATER NEEDS

    Get PDF
Climate change effects can be seen in most urban areas around the globe, thus local public administrations take into consideration establishing irrigation systems when managing green areas. In Romania, more and more green areas with mature woody plants are irrigated, even historical gardens, but most projects lack the motivation behind implementing the watering systems. To establish if and when irrigation is needed in historical gardens, it is proposed to begin with a detailed study regarding the vegetation composition. This article presents the woody species data collected from three historical gardens around Romania (Cluj-Napoca City, Gornești - Mureș   County, and Bucharest City). Furthermore, this information will be used to develop a methodology for estimating the irrigation water needs of woody species recorded in historical green spaces around Romania. Moreover, the inventory data and the irrigation recommendations could be also used by the local administrations for better decision making regarding planning and management in historical gardens

THE INFLUENCE OF FERTILIZER ON ANALYZED SOYBEAN VARIETIES

The major role that soybeans may have in perspective is also related to the plant's attribution to fix the nitrogen in the atmosphere and to use it with high yield in the process of assimilation. To study the link between the quality characteristics considered in the three soybean varieties it was used the calculation of the correlation coefficients (r). The study of the existing links between the analysed characters is of great utility in the production by allowing the selection that simultaneously holds the combination of useful characters, but at the same time draws attention to the difficulty of achieving these requirements

THE INFLUENCE OF TECHNOLOGICAL FACTORS ON QUALITY INDICATORS FOR THREE VITIS VINIFERA VARIETIES CULTIVATED IN THE JIDVEI VINEYARD

    No full text
The article presents partial results of the study regarding the influence of some technological factors on the evolution of quality indicators for three Vitis vinifera L. varieties, namely Fetească Regală, Muscat Ottonel and Sauvignon Blanc. The experiments underlying the research were conducted in Jidvei’s experimental field, located in the eastern part of Alba County, on the lower course of the river Târnava Mică. The three varieties were tested under different irrigation and fertilization conditions to determine grapes’s levels of sugar, acidity and pH, which are responsible for the quality of wine production

THE INFLUENCE OF TECHNOLOGY ELEMENTS ON SODIUM, CALCIUM AND MAGNESIUM CONTENT, AT THE MINT CULTURE, IN CONDITIONS OF SOMEŞENI - CLUJ AREA

The present paper presents part of the results of the researches carried out within the "Exploitation of systems for land improvement and crop irrigation" specialization at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca. The research underlying this paper was to determine the influence of some technological factors - irrigation, fertilization and biological material on the content of three important mineral elements - sodium, calcium and magnesium, at the mint culture, under the specific conditions of Someseni area - Cluj. The technological factors studied were: the irrigation regime, the degree of fertilization and the biological material, being tested three varieties of mint grown in culture in Transylvania, M. x piperita var. piperita "Swiss Mint", M. spicata L. var. crispa "Morroccan" and M. suaveolens var. "Apple Mint"

ORGANIC TREATMENTS FOR THE CONTROL OF MYCOSPHAERELLA FRAGARIAE INFECTION IN THE ECOLOGICAL CROP SYSTEM OF FRAGARIA VESCA

    Get PDF
The damage caused by Mycosphaerella fragariae infection is one of the main foliar diseases of wild strawberries. The leaf spot disease decreases significantly the photosynthetic area and the quality of the fruits. This fungal disease caused by Mycosphaerella fragaria is an important factor that is limiting the crop production and it causes high costs due to yield losses and expensive pesticide applications. Traditionally, the main procedure for disease control in wild strawberry production depends on chemical treatments and pre-plant fumigation. Recently, alternative methods of disease control have been sought and researched, because of the increasing request for organic food. This study evaluates the effect of two organic treatments for the leaf spot disease on wild strawberry irrigated crop
