Evolucion de los perjuicios extrapatrimoniales en colombia

    Get PDF

lntroduction: To assess whether [-2]pro-prostate-specific antigen (p2PSA) meets the criteria to justify its inclusion in a predictive model of prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis and in the clinical decision-making process. Materials and Methods: A total 172 men with total prostate-specific antigen of 2-10 ng/ml underwent measurement of free PSA and p2PSA before prostate biopsy in an observational and prospective study. From these measurements, the Prostate Health lndex (PHI) was calculated. Clinical and analytical predictive models were created incorporating PHI. Results: Of 172 men, 72 (42%) were diagnosed with PCa, 33 (46%) of whom were found to be with high-grade disease. PHI score was the most predictive of biopsy outcomes in terms of discriminative ability (area under the curve = 0.79), with an added gain in predictive accuracy of 17%. AII the models that incorporated PHI worked better in terms of calibration close to 45º on the slope. In the decision curve analysis, a threshold probability of 40% we could prevent 82 biopsies, missing only 16 tumors and 5 high-grade tumors. Conclusions: PHI score is a more discriminant biomarker, has superior calibration and superior net benefit, and provides a higher rate of avoided biopsies; thus, it can be useful for aiding in making a more informed decision for each patient

This article specifically addresses the study of living conditions and characteristics of gender-based violence experienced by higher-level students in Mexico, particularly in the southern region, which is the poorest, most marginalized and violent, as is the case of the students of the Autonomous University of Guerrero (UAGRO), in what concerns the family space, in their dating relationships or in the university space, which allows characterizing the gender relations that make up part of the culture of society in which are located. The research findings express that university students are highly dependent on their parents’ resources to survive and a significant proportion have suffered gender violence, in higher-level educational and family institutions, as well as in their affective dating / partner relationships, which constitutes them as reproductive spaces of aggressive social relationships, of sexist socialization modes crossed for power relations based on gender inequality and place them in conditions of violence and vulnerability. Keywords: Violence, gender, university

Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats Analysis for a Pediatric Anesthesia Program

    Get PDF
Background: Risk management in healthcare institutions begins by first identifying the potential risks within a certain organization or specific area and then goes on to develop further strategies to reduce harm. The most common tool for this type of analysis is Strengths–Weaknesses–Opportunities–Threats (SWOT). Methods: We conducted a SWOT analysis in our pediatric anesthesia program: key factors were identified in a matrix, prioritized in a score table, represented in a graph, and finally analyzed. Results: Items obtained partial scores from 20 to 120. The item “lack of clinical protocols” was given greater weight (60) and received a lower value (1), resulting in the highest partial score (60) among the negative key factors and indicating a need for greater efforts to improve this specific aspect. Conclusion: The SWOT tool proved effective in identifying safety and quality key factors, and it provided information for initiating an improvement program

The violence uncontrolled for armed conflict in Colombia, has been perpetuated for many years to the point of being a violence naturalized; this has generated multidimensional effects on the victims; like this, this panorama suggest a holistic reading and the psychosocial approach that demand the use of thechniques and theoretical approaches that allow appreciate with sensitivity this complex realities, making it possible to overcome victimizing conditions and empower the victims as agents of social change based on transformative stories from tools as the narrative and the image. The narrative approach, allows, from the resource of the narrative, a strategic questioning, where the victim manages recover a emerging identity from conversations of support. Equally the image make possible from a symbolic act to create an intersubjective dialogue where it is possible to expose the realities of pain and catharsis as a liberating act. In this sense, in this work it is presented the analysis of the case entitled: Camilo, from the section of stories of violence and hope, based on the answer to some guiding items, the formulation of circular, reflexive and strategic questions for its approach; the analysis and presentation of strategies proposed for the psychosocial approach to the Peñas Coloradas case based on the answers to the questions posed an analytical and reflective report of the photovoice exercise, as well as the link to the Wix page with the exposition of the experiences in each regional context, the general conclusions of the work carried out and the bibliographical references

Tree-ring distinctness, dating potential and climatic sensitivity of laurel forest tree species in Tenerife Island

Producción CientíficaMacaronesian laurel forests are the only remnants of a subtropical palaeoecosystem dominant during the Tertiary in Europe and northern Africa. These biodiverse ecosystems are restricted to cloudy and temperate insular environments in the North Atlantic Ocean. Due to their reduced distribution area, these forests are particularly vulnerable to anthropogenic disturbances and changes in climatic conditions. The assessment of laurel forest trees’ response to climate variation by dendrochronological methods is limited because it was assumed that the lack of marked seasonality would prevent the formation of distinct annual tree rings. The aims of this study were to identify the presence of annual growth rings and to assess the dendrochronological potential of the most representative tree species from laurel forests in Tenerife, Canary Islands. We sampled increment cores from 498 trees of 12 species in two well-preserved forests in Tenerife Island. We evaluated tree-ring boundary distinctness, dating potential, and sensitivity of tree-ring growth to climate and, particularly, to drought occurrence. Eight species showed clear tree-ring boundaries, but synchronic annual tree rings and robust tree-ring chronologies were only obtained for Laurus novocanariensis, Ilex perado subsp. platyphylla, Persea indica and Picconia excelsa, a third of the studied species. Tree-ring width depended on water balance and drought occurrence, showing sharp reductions in growth in the face of decreased water availability, a response that was consistent among species and sites. Inter-annual tree-ring width variation was directly dependent on rainfall input in the humid period, from previous October to current April. The four negative pointer years 1995, 1999, 2008 and 2012 corresponded to severe drought events in the study area. This study gives the first assessment of dendrochronological potential and tree-ring climate sensitivity of tree species from the Tenerife laurel forest, which opens new research avenues for dendroecological studies in Macaronesian laurel forests.Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (projects PID2019-109906RA-I00, PID2020-118444GA-100 and PID2019-106908RA-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033)Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (predoctoral contract PRE2018-084106)Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (project CGL2017-87309-P and postdoctoral grant IJC2019-040571-I)Junta de Castilla y León (projects VA113G19 and IR2020-1-UVA08)Universidad de Valladolid (predoctoral contract 113-2019PREUVA22)Comunidad de Madrid (project S2018/EMT-4338
