NetGAP: A Graph-Grammar approach for concept design of networked platforms with extra-functional requirements

During the concept design of complex networked systems, concept developers have to assure that the choice of hardware modules and the topology of the target platform will provide adequate resources to support the needs of the application. For example, future-generation aerospace systems need to consider multiple requirements, with many trade-offs, foreseeing rapid technological change and a long time span for realization and service. For that purpose, we introduce NetGAP, an automated 3-phase approach to synthesize network topologies and support the exploration and concept design of networked systems with multiple requirements including dependability, security, and performance. NetGAP represents the possible interconnections between hardware modules using a graph grammar and uses a Monte Carlo Tree Search optimization to generate candidate topologies from the grammar while aiming to satisfy the requirements. We apply the proposed approach to the synthetic version of a realistic avionics application use case and show the merits of the solution to support the early-stage exploration of alternative candidate topologies. The method is shown to vividly characterize the topology-related trade-offs between requirements stemming from security, fault tolerance, timeliness, and the "cost" of adding new modules or links. Finally, we discuss the flexibility of using the approach when changes in the application and its requirements occur

This article intends to analyze one of the most competitive economic in Portugal: thefootwear cluster.Although the Portuguese economy has been affected by several economic disruptions in the last years, the footwear industry managed to remain as a competitive and resilient activity, resilient that has bet on a strategy of innovation, improvement of processes and effective communication policy in order to survive in a market characterized by an enormous competitiveness and demand.In this context, this report’s main objective is to analyze the developments in this sector critically and to check the main challenges.In methodological terms, two in-depth interviews were conducted to the APUCCAPS’sresponsible beyond a qualitative analysis based on the available documents.It was verified that the footwear cluster faces significant challenges, but regardlessof this fact, it has been modernized and adapted to new situations with great success.Este artigo pretende analisar uma das áreas de actividade económica mais competitivas de Portugal: o cluster do calçado. Embora ao longo dos últimos anos a economia portuguesa tenha sido afectada por diversas perturbações económicas, a indústria do calçado conseguiu manter-se como uma actividade competitiva e resiliente que apostou na inovação e no aprimoramento de processos e política de comunicação eficaz como estratégia principal de sobrevivência num mercado caracterizado pela enorme competitividade e exigência. Neste contexto, este artigo tem como principal objectivo analisar criticamente a evolução deste sector e verificar os principais desafios. Em termos metodológicos, foram feitas duas entrevistas em profundidade aos responsáveis pelo APUCCAPS além de uma análise qualitativa com base nos documentos disponíveis. Verificou-se que o cluster do calçado se depara com desafios significativos, mas independentemente desse facto, tem-se modernizado e adaptado a novas conjunturas com bastante sucesso

Enfermagem e lógica fuzzy: uma revisão integrativa

This study conducted an integrative review investigating how fuzzy logic has been used in research with the participation of nurses. The article search was carried out in the CINAHL, EMBASE, SCOPUS, PubMed and Medline databases, with no limitation on time of publication. Articles written in Portuguese, English and Spanish with themes related to nursing and fuzzy logic with the authorship or participation of nurses were included. The final sample included 21 articles from eight countries. For the purpose of analysis, the articles were distributed into categories: theory, method and model. In nursing, fuzzy logic has significantly contributed to the understanding of subjects related to: imprecision or the need of an expert; as a research method; and in the development of models or decision support systems and hard technologies. The use of fuzzy logic in nursing has shown great potential and represents a vast field for research.Este estudio tuvo como objetivo realizar una revisión integradora investigando como la lógica fuzzy ha sido utilizada en investigaciones con participación de enfermeros. La búsqueda de los artículos fue realizada en las bases de datos CINAHL, Embase, SCOPUS, Medline y PubMed, sin especificar un intervalo de años determinado. Fueron incluidos artículos en los idiomas: portugués, inglés y castellano; con una temática relacionada a la enfermería y a la lógica fuzzy; y con autoría o participación de enfermeros. La muestra final fue de 21 artículos, de ocho países. Para el análisis, los artículos fueron distribuidos en las categorías: teoría, método y modelo. Antibodies To Neospora Caninum In Sheep From Slaughterhouses In The State Of Sao Paulo, Brazil

Neosporosis is an emergent disease responsible for considerable economic impact due to reproductive losses. Its zoonotic potential remains unknown. This study involved a survey of antibodies to Neospora caninum in slaughtered sheep and their association with epidemiological variables. Serum samples from 596 sheep from the states of Sao Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, were collected in two slaughterhouses located in Sao Paulo and evaluated by indirect fluorescence antibody test (IFAT), using cut-off titers of 25. Among these samples, 353/596 (59.23%; 95%CI 55.23-63.10) were positive and 263/353 (74.50%; 95%CI 69.71-78.77%) were from Rio Grande do Sul. Statistical associations were determined in the univariate analysis between the serological results and sex, breed and municipality of origin. Sheep that came from extensive breeding system showed higher chance (OR=2.09) of presenting antibodies to N. caninum in relation to those from semi-intensive system. Higher chance was also observed for the different studied breeds, except Bergamacia, in relation to Hampshire Down. The results revealed the presence of infection by N. caninum in sheep from slaughterhouses.2419510
