Social Integration of Deserted Mothers
The social problems which deserted mothers who are in receipt of Family Benefits experience has been a major concern of personnel in the Ontario Department of Social and Family Services for several decades. Their primary concern of the past has been that of ensuring the mothers adequate financial resources with which to purchase the necessities of life. Changes in legislation have reflected this concern, and with the recent passage of the Family Benefits Act, 1967, deserted mothers are assured of adequate finances with which to purchase their basic needs.
With the basic requirements of food, shelter and clothing being assured to deserted mothers we can turn to other fundamental needs which have, in the past, often been obscured by the mother herself in her concern for material needs. The practitioner also, often by necessity, has concentrated on obvious needs. Rosow comments: “Hence, by concentrating on concrete material problems, practitioners can avoid thinking about subtler social needs that are less apparent and harder to manage, but equally compelling.”
Deserted mothers’ problems are quite diverse and in contrast to some of the more obvious problems are the social problems they face. These problems primarily concern their social participation in their community, and the consequences of their present circumstances which are loneliness, isolation and alienation. The primary concern of this research design is that of social integration of deserted mothers
Multimetric Supergravities
Making use of integral forms and superfield techniques we propose
supersymmetric extensions of the multimetric gravity Lagrangians in dimensions
one, two, three and four. The supersymmetric interaction potential covariantly
deforms the bosonic one, producing in particular suitable super-symmetric
polynomials generated by the Berezinian. As an additional application of our
formalism we construct supersymmetric multi-Maxwell theories in dimensions
three and four.Comment: 37 pages, Latex2e, no figure
Low-dimensional chaos in populations of strongly-coupled noisy maps
We characterize the macroscopic attractor of infinite populations of noisy
maps subjected to global and strong coupling by using an expansion in order
parameters. We show that for any noise amplitude there exists a large region of
strong coupling where the macroscopic dynamics exhibits low-dimensional chaos
embedded in a hierarchically-organized, folded, infinite-dimensional set. Both
this structure and the dynamics occuring on it are well-captured by our
expansion. In particular, even low-degree approximations allow to calculate
efficiently the first macroscopic Lyapunov exponents of the full system.Comment: 16 pages, 9 figures. Progress of Theoretical Physics, to appea
Exempt Security Offerings Available in Texas
Recently due to the robust economy, the United States, including Texas, saw a significant increase in the number of initial public offerings ( IPOs ) in the securities markets. Nationally, 709.8 billion worth of IPOs brought to market in the U.S. The purpose of this article is to give direction to the business practitioner who unintentionally becomes involved in federal or state securities regulations. In Texas, a common involvement arises when a lawyer assists with the formation of a new business venture. A frequent misconception is if the deal is small enough, or if only a limited number of investors are involved, then federal and state securities laws are not invoked. This article will address those securities not requiring the filing of a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) or the State Securities Board of the State of Texas ( State Securities Board ). The Securities Act of 19333 and the Securities Exchange Act of 19344 were enacted to eliminate serious abuses in a largely unregulated securities market. \u27 To achieve this goal, Congress painted with a broad brush in defining which activities invoked federal securities laws
Developments of the pinned photodiode terahertz rectifier
This paper presents we presents a development of the structure of the pinned photodiode terahertz rectifier, in which the metal whisker of the antenna is separated from the semiconductor by a silane oxide layer, in order to reduce the surface defectiveness. The rectifies is the basic component of an image detection system based on the structure of actual CMOS image detectors. The structure combines a nano-antenna, fabricated on the top of a standard image sensor, the rectifier, and the readout electronics. The rectifier device proposed has vertical extension of some tenths of nanometers, can be created at the foot of the nano-whisker at the end of the terahertz antenna, above the storage well
Pulse-Echo Monitoring of Concrete Damage and Spalling during Fire
Monitoring concrete damage and spalling progression in structural members during fire tests (hot conditions) is a central but challenging task, since the high temperatures involved make difficult the implementation of most of the common Non-
Destructive evaluation methods. Hence, an advanced ultrasonic technique – Ultrasonic Pulse-Echo (UPE) – was recently adapted for real time survey in fire test, in order to evaluate the material damage during heating. The UPE technique was implemented at the cold (upper) face of concrete slabs (800x800x100 mm) heated at the bottom face according to the Standard Fire and subjected to biaxial compressive membrane loading. Different concretes were tested, with grades ranging from 40 to 60 MPa, with and without different kinds of fibre (monofilament or fibrillated polypropylene, or steel fibres). Furthermore, different load levels were applied, from 0 to 25% of the original compressive strength. During tests, spalling was generally observed in loaded plain concrete (up to 50-60 mm depth), while only slight scaling was experienced on
unloaded samples or if polypropylene fibre was added. The method proved to be very effective in recognizing the decay of the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) with temperature and the role played by external loading and fibre type
