Macroeconomic Implications of Capital Inflows in India

    Get PDF
The study attempts to analyse the behaviour of some macroeconomic variables in response to total capital inflows in India using quarterly data for the period 1994Q1-2007Q4. Time trend of all variables except nominal effective exchange rate-both export and trade based and current account balance shows instability over the period of study. Current account balance is the only variable which is stationary in level form all other variables are stationary in first difference form. Cointegration test confirms the long run equilibrium relation between total capital inflows (TCI) and real effective exchange rate-both trade based and export based and between TCI and nominal effective exchange rate-export based. Granger causality test confirms the bidirectional causality between real effective exchange rate-export based and TCI and between foreign exchange reserve & TCI and unidirectional causality from TCI to real effective exchange rate-trade based.International Capital Inflows, Time Series Econometrics

Problems and Prospects of Islamic Banking: a case Study of Takaful

The paper is an attempt to analyse the working of Takaul in the world and its popularity in the insurance sector in the world. Keeping in view of Sharia we have also tried all possible aspects of insurance system popular in the world and tried to look at its possibility to familiarize more amongst Muslims of the world. It is observed that customer awareness remain low, however this is often attributed to a limited understanding of Islamic finance in the banking and insurance world. We wish to have a proper salesmanship and advertisement of Islamic banking system in India and all around the world.Islamic Banking, Takaful

Energy savings techniques in out-of-order pipeline through value approximation of instructions with data dependencies

Approximate computing has emerged as one of the areas studied over the past few years to improve the performance and energy consumption computers. Approximate computing tolerates imprecision during computation, and it produces data values that are close to the actual outputs obtained from exact computation. From software to circuit level, approximate computing techniques have been applied across all computing domains. This study was carried out on microarchitectural level, where dependencies between two instructions are relaxed in the scheduling unit. This research proposed a technique that allows dependent instructions to execute without waiting for values produced by their producer instructions. This process enabled schedulers to skip certain pipeline processes such operand rename lookup, and instruction wake-up in the instruction scheduler queue to provide additional energy savings. The results of this work revealed an average performance acceleration of 1.25x. In addition, the total of energy savings was achieved at 4.6% for approximation cases that produced tolerable error at the output

The purpose of the present study was to compare the sensation seeking and anxiety state of sports person with impairment vision problem. The total thirty (15Cricketers and 15 Sprinters) male Open National tournament players were selected for this study. The age of the subjects were ranged between 18 to 25 years. The data on sensation seeking and anxiety state of the subjects were obtained by using a questionnaire developed by Neary and Zuckerman (1976). The t test was used to determine the difference between the mean score of the cricketers and sprinters. Results revealed that there was a significant difference between Cricketers and sprinters in their sensation seeking and anxiety state at 0.05 level of significance with 28 degree of freedom. Study showed that cricketers have higher level of sensation seeking and anxiety state as compared to sprinters. Key Words: Persons with vision impairment, Cricketers, Sprinters, Sensation Seeking and Anxiety State.

The purpose of the present study was to compare the sensation seeking trait on different levels of weight lifters. The total hundred (50 State level and 50 All- India intervarsity level weight lifters) males were selected for this study. The age of the subjects were ranged between 18 to 25 years. The data on sensation seeking of the subjects were obtained by using a questionnaire developed by Neary and Zuckerman (1976). The t test was used to determine the difference between the mean score of different levels of weight lifters. Results revealed that there was a significant difference between different levels of weight lifters at 0.05 level of significance with 98 degree of freedom. Study showed that All- India intervarsity level weight lifters have higher level of sensation seeking as compared to State level weight lifters. Key words: weight lifters, Sensation seeking, Thrill and Adventure Seeking, Experience Seeking, Disinhibition, Boredom Susceptibility

Probing Study on Facilities of Competitive Sports in District Jail, Lucknow (India)

The purpose of this study was to evaluate organizational structure, administrative frame-work andfacilities of Sports in District Jail of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, India. The sample of the present study wasdrawn randomly from the jail administrators, prisoners and physical educator(s) of District Jail of Lucknow. The size of the sample was 55 comprising 50 prisoners and 5 administrators. No physical educator(s) wasfound in the jail. Questionnaire taken for the study was developed by the researchers in a pilot study. Itincludes five sub-scales (a) Organizational Structure, (b) Administrative Frame-work, (c) Facilities ofSports, (d) Preference of Sports, and (e) Achievements in Sports. The percentile method was used in theanalysis of the results. The data indicates that some of the inmate information's intended to continue theirsports involvement following their release whereas some of the administrators recorded their responses to prescribe the Government of India for the proper sports facilities in their jail. Many of the inmates wouldrather watch sports events on television rather than participate in one themselves. Keywords: Organization; Facilities; Prisoners; Administrators; District Jail, Lucknow

Modeling, Simulation and Analysis of Dual Cell Three Phase Multilevel Inverter Having Low THD

    Get PDF
Recent advances and development in power electronics and control technologies have made the multilevel concept practical. Much research has been done on the advanced control and modulation algorithm for increasing the level of inverter output and decreasing Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). In this paper Dual Cell three phase seven level inverter has been investigated, modeled and analyzed. Digital simulation has been performed on MATLAB Simulink platform in SimPower System blockset to verify the model and analysis. The results obtained are discussed and shown that the THD of the system is coming 3.12% for voltage and 1.96 % for current (a very low THD and under the limit given by IEEE standards)

A Comparative Study of Body Builders and Weight Lifters on Somatotypes

The purpose of the present study was to compare the somatotypes of Body Builders and Weight Lifters. The total fifty (25 body builders and 25 weight lifters) male All-India intervarsity players were selected for this study. The age of the subjects were ranged between 18 to 25 years. The data on somatotypes of the subjects were obtained by using the Carter and Heath method, developed by Carter and Heath (1990). The t test was used to determine the difference between the mean score of the body builders and weight lifters. Results revealed that there was a significant difference between body builders and weight lifters at 0.05 level of significance with 48 degree of freedom. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference between body builders and weight lifters of their endomorph. Weightlifters are tend to have more fat percentage as compared to bodybuilders. There was not much difference found in the mesomorphy status of the bodybuilders and weightlifters but the bodybuilders showed slightly more musculature than the weightlifters and in the ectomorphy status bodybuilders tend to be more ectomorph than weightlifters
