Cybercrime and Digital Forensics: Bridging the gap in Legislation, Investigation and Prosecution of Cybercrime in Nigeria
The advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) opens new avenues and ways for cybercriminals to commit crime. The primary goal of this paper is to raise awareness regarding gaps that exist with regards to Nigeria’s capabilities to adequately legislate, investigate and prosecute cases of cybercrimes. The major source of cybercrime legislation in Nigeria is an act of the National Assembly which is majorly a symbolic legislation rather than a full and active legislation. In perusing these avenues of inquiry, the authors seek to identify systemic impediments which hinder law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and investigators from properly carrying out their duties as expected
Stability, Adsorption and Diffusion of CH4, CO2 and H2 in Clathrate Hydrates
We present a study of the adsorption and diffusion of CH4, CO2 and H2
molecules in clathrate hydrates using ab initio van der Waals density
functional formalism [Dion et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 246401 (2004)]. We find
that the adsorption energy is dominated by van der Waals interactions and that,
without them, gas hydrates would not be stable. We calculate the maximum
adsorption capacity as well as the maximum hydrocarbon size that can be
adsorbed. The relaxation of the host lattice is essential for a good description
of the diffusion activation energies, which are estimated to be of the order of
0.2, 0.4, and 1.0 eV for H2, CO2, and CH4, respectively.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, 3 table
Operational evaluation of Obafemi Awolowo University main gate – Ede Road intersection
Vehicular traffic at Obafemi Awolowo University has increased over the years, resulting in delay at The Main Gate – Ede Road Intersection. This paper evaluated its present level of service with a view to addressing this situation. Geometric survey of the intersection was carried out. Peak hour traffic studies were conducted for a week and the traffic characteristics and volume were determined using standard procedure. The level of service (LOS) of the intersection was thereafter obtained. The geometrics of the intersection showed that, two lanes exist on the East Bound (EB) and West Bound (WB) approaches, as well as a dual lane on the North Bound (NB) and South Bound (SB) approaches. The traffic volume count was 1378, 931, 1168 and 1123 veh/h for the NB, SB, EB and WB respectively. The level of service at the intersection is B, thus implying that it exhibits a slight delay.

Structures of falcipain-2 and falcipain-3 bound to small molecule inhibitors: implications for substrate specificity.
Falcipain-2 and falcipain-3 are critical hemoglobinases of Plasmodium falciparum, the most virulent human malaria parasite. We have determined the 2.9 A crystal structure of falcipain-2 in complex with the epoxysuccinate E64 and the 2.5 A crystal structure of falcipain-3 in complex with the aldehyde leupeptin. These complexes represent the first crystal structures of plasmodial cysteine proteases with small molecule inhibitors and the first reported crystal structure of falcipain-3. Our structural analyses indicate that the relative shape and flexibility of the S2 pocket are affected by a number of discrete amino acid substitutions. The cumulative effect of subtle differences, including those at "gatekeeper" positions, may explain the observed kinetic differences between these two closely related enzymes
Challenges facing Administrators of Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria and the Way Forward
Secondary school education is the education that offered post-primary school education. It is the education that prepares the student for career choice in life. The public secondary school are handled by administrators in Nigeria who oversees the administration and ensure the aims and objectives of the schools are realized. It has been observed that these public secondary school administrators are facing many challenges. This article discusses the challenges facing administrators of public secondary schools in Nigeria. We adopted secondary data to provide empirical fact to support every point raised in the paper. The secondary data were sorted online and through print materials. The paper identified: inadequate funding, inadequate infrastructural facilities, poor capacity building programme, shortage of professional teachers, inadequate ICT facilities, shortage of instructional resources, insecurity and poor supervision as challenges facing the public secondary school administrators in Nigeria. Increasing in the funding of public secondary schools were among the recommendations given in this paper for the effective administration of the public secondary schools by the administrators
SPATIO-TEMPORAL IMPACT OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC PRACTICES ON LAND USE/ COVER IN THE KASSO CATCHMENT, BALE MOUNTAINS, ETHIOPIA
This study aims to identify the driving forces and implications of the temporal and spatial dynamics of land use and land cover in the Kasso catchment, Bale Mountains (Southeastern Ethiopia). Aerial photographs (1965 and 1973) and satellite image (SPOT5 2007) were interpreted and analyzed using GIS tools. Socio-economic surveys, focus group discussions, and field observations were also used to determine the causes and effects of these land use and land cover dynamics. It was found that agriculture and settlement land had increased by 24%, whereas natural forest, woodland, bush land, and grassland declined by 80.74%, 68.08%, 63.02% and 17.65%, respectively. Agricultural expansion and population growth were the two major driving forces behind the land use and land cover dynamics. Environmental and local livelihood implications included forest cover degradation, soil erosion and fertility decline, stream volume and livestock size decline, and scarcity of firewood and construction materials. These in turn contributed to food insecurity, particularly in some low-income households, as well as hindering the sustainable livelihoods of the study area in general. Therefore, we suggest that there is a need to protect the fragile environment, and to adapt and implement sustainable land management practice to promote sustainable livelihood in the area
Performances of metal oxides supported in monolith for combined SO2/NOx removal from flue gas
The emission of acid gases such SO2 and NOx have detrimental effects on human beings and the environment hence, removing them from flue gas in a dry adsorption process is desirable. In this work, carbon monolith was synthesized with various metals consisting of CeO2, Co3O4, V2O5, and CuO by deposition precipitation, hydrothermal and wet pore volume impregnation synthesis techniques. The fixed bed adsorption activity test was carried out with flue gas production by coal burning. Furthermore, the breakthrough curves of the adsorbents were investigated where the adsorbent developed via hydrothermal technique with Co3O4 metal oxide termed as HM-Co3O4 /CM displayed higher adsorption capacity for both SO2 (103.9 mg/g) and NOx and (106.6 mg/g). The Langmuir model can best describe the experimental data based on the correlation coefficient and separation factor results. These results implied that the developed adsorbent can be potentially used in the industry for flue gas cleaning
Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Investigation of Self-Healing Coatings Based on Epoxy/Resole (IPNs) Incorporated with ppy@nano(SiO2/ZnO/Fe3O4)
This study employed core-shell polymerization to synthesize three types of interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs): (epoxy / resole) IPN/ppy@nanoSiO2, (Epoxy /resole) IPN/ppy@nanoZnO, and (epoxy - resole) IPN/ppy@nanoFe3O4. The prepared compounds were subjected to comprehensive characterization using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) techniques. These IPNs were subsequently applied as self-healing coatings on carbon steel (C1010) alloy. The inhibition efficiencies of the coated carbon steel were then evaluated in a 1M HCl solution using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). The results demonstrated an increase in the Rp values according to the following order: (epoxy /resole) IPN/ppy@nanoSiO2 > (epoxy / resole) IPN/ppy@nanoZnO > (epoxy/ resole) IPN/ppy@nanoFe3O4. Notably, the (epoxy /resole) IPN/ppy@nanoSiO2 coating exhibited a remarkable inhibition efficiency of 100%
