Sudakov Resummations at Higher Orders

We summarize our recent results on the resummation of hard-scattering coefficient functions and on-shell form factors in massless perturbative QCD. The threshold resummation has been extended to the fourth logarithmic order for deep-inelastic scattering, Drell-Yan lepton pair production and Higgs production via gluon-gluon fusion. The leading six infrared pole terms have been derived to all orders in the strong coupling constant for the photon-quark-quark and the (heavy-top) Higgs-gluon-gluon form factors. These results have many implications, most notably they lead to a new best estimate for the Higgs production cross section at the LHC.Comment: 12 pages, LaTeX, 2 eps-figures. Three-Loop Results for Quark and Gluon Form Factors

We study the photon-quark-quark and Higgs-gluon-gluon form factors for on-shell massless quarks and gluons in perturbative QCD. Previous third-order results for the quark case are extended by calculating the fermion-loop contributions up to the finite terms in dimensional regularization. For the gluon case the complete set of infrared poles at three loops is derived. Using the exponentiation of the form factor, the latter results are employed to extract a function entering the infrared factorization of general third-order amplitudes. We evaluate the infrared finite absolute ratio of the time-like and space-like gluon form factors up to the fourth order in the strong coupling constant. The result supports previous indications that the perturbative expansion of the Higgs boson production rate at the LHC is under control.Comment: 9 pages, LaTeX. Precision determination of the top-quark mass

Precision determinations of the top-quark mass require theory predictions with a well-defined mass parameter in a given renormalization scheme. The top-quark's running mass in the MSbar scheme can be extracted with good precision from the total cross section at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD. The Monte Carlo top-quark mass parameter measured from comparison to events with top-quark decay products is not identical with the pole mass. A study of Reading Teaching Technique Used by The Teacher for the first Year Student at SMANegeri 1 Babat

This study was aimed to describe and to explore the techniques in teaching reading used in SMAN 1 Babat. Besides, it is expected that the study will inform about the usage of the Teaching Techniques in reading used by the teacher for the first year students at SMAN 1 Babat. It is very important to know and to understand that a certain school has some different teaching learning techniques. A descriptive qualitative was used during this study, meaning that the writer only investigated and described the techniques used in SMAN 1 Babat. The subject of this study was the first year English teacher at SMAN 1 Babat. To investigate and to explore the techniques used, the writer used observation and interview as a research instrument. There were two steps used by the writer to obtain the data. First, the writer observed the techniques in classroom activity twice for each week (2 week observation) by using observational checklist. Second the writer conducted interview with the teacher in order to cross check and clarify what had been observed. In this study the writer found that teacher in SMAN 1 Babat was using lecturing, discussion and games. The advantages of these techniques were: the students were easily handled, more active in a class, and more enthusiastic to take a part in class. The difficulties were the different achievement from one student to another, sometimes the overlapping information, and drifted off the topic. The ways how to cope with the difficulties were: for those who were inactive, the teacher asked them to formulate some written questions to be submitted to the teacher; the teacher monitored them and gave them little explanation toward the topic when they found misunderstanding between the presenter and the audiences. It can be concluded from the main problems during the implementation of the technique, that the teacher should change a model of the technique which means not only using discussion, lecturing etc. The teacher should try to find other techniques which are appropriate for a certain subject. Rolling the techniques from one meeting to another meeting is necessary, so that the students will not get bored in a class activity

Higher-Order Corrections in Threshold Resummation

We extend the threshold resummation exponents G^N in Mellin-N space to the fourth logarithmic (N^3LL) order collecting the terms alpha_s^2 (alpha_s ln N)^n to all orders in the strong coupling constant as. Comparing the results to our previous three-loop calculations for deep-inelastic scattering (DIS), we derive the universal coefficients B_q and B_g governing the final-state jet functions to order alpha_s^3, extending the previous quark and gluon results by one and two orders. A curious relation is found at second order between these quantities, the splitting functions and the large-angle soft emissions in Drell-Yan type processes. We study the numerical effect of the N^3LL corrections using both the fully exponentiated form and the expansion of the coefficient function in towers of logarithms.Comment: 20 pages, LaTeX, 6 eps-figures. HUBUNGAN PERILAKU MASYARAKAT DENGAN KEJADIAN MALARIA DESA KORE KECAMATAN SANGGAR KABUPATEN BIMA

Malaria adalah penyakit infeksi yang masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat. Desa Kore merupakan daerah endemis. Pada tahun 2004 terjdi KLB malaria dengan jumlah penderita malaria klinis 1.282 (AMI=264,38 0/00). Perilaku masyarakat (pengetahuan, sikap dan praktik)merupakan salah satu faktor yang erat kaitannya dengan kejadian malaria. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan perilaku masyarakat dengan penyakit malaria di Desa Kore Kecamatan Sanggar Kabupaten Bima tahun 2005. Jenis penelitian ini adalah explanatory research menggunakan metode survey dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala keluargadi Desa Kore dengan jumlah sampel 89 responden terdiri dari 56 orang sakit malaria dan 33 tidak sakit. Berdasarkan hasil uji stasitik ada hubungan antara sikap dangan praktek tentang kejadian malaria (p=0,000), perilaku dengan kejadian malaria(p=0,020). Perlu dilakukan penyuluhan, identifikasi jenis nyamuk dan penelitian mendalam tentang perilaku masyarakat yang berperan dalam kasus malaria.
