A contribution to the knowledge of caddisflies (Insecta, Trichoptera) of springs in the Dinaric karst of Croatia
In this research 55 species of caddisflies belonging to 33 genera and 13 families were identified in 23 springs in the Dinaric area of Croatia. The Dinaric karst region is recognized as an area of exceptional biodiversity and endemism. The species Crunoecia irrorata (Curtis, 1834) was found in the spring in Kamensko, in the area of LiÄka PljeÅ”evica, and that is the first finding of this species in Croatia. The largest number of species was determined at the spring Keljevac (14 species) and the spring in Rudanovac village (14 species). The species Drusus croaticus Marinkovic-Gospodnetic, 1971 was found in most of the locations
Rasprostranjenost roda Chersotis Boisduval, 1840 (Insecta, Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) u Hrvatskoj
The distribution of the genus Chersotis in Croatia is shown. Four species have been registered in Croatian fauna: Chersotis multangula (HĆ¼bner, 1803), C. margaritacea (Villers, 1789), C. elegans (Eversmann, 1843) and C. cuprea (Denis & SchiffermĆ¼ller, 1775). The species C. cuprea D. & S. has now been registered for the first time in Croatian fauna, and C. multangula HĆ¼b. has been reregistered in the fauna of Dalmatia, i. e. for the Mediterranean region of Croatia.Prikazana je rasprostranjenost roda Chersotis na podruÄju Hrvatske u Äijoj je fauni zabilježeno Äetiri speciesa: Chersotis multangula (HĆ¼bner, 1803), C. margaritacea (Villers, 1789), C. elegans (Eversmann, 1843) i C. cuprea (Denis & SchiffermĆ¼ller, 1775). Vrsta C. cuprea D. & S. zabilježena je prvi put u fauni Hrvatske, a C. multangula HĆ¼b. ponovo u fauni Dalmacije, odnosno mediteranskom podruÄju Hrvatske
Prvi objavljeni nalazi vrste Catoptria acutangulellus (HerrichSchƤffer, 1847) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) za Hrvatsku nakon gotovo jednog stoljeÄa
The montane species Catoptria acutangulellus (Herrich-SchƤffer, 1847) was reconfirmed from Croatia on Mt Biokovo after almost 100 years. Previous historical records were published in 1850 from Mt Biokovo and 1896 from the area around Rijeka. There are no recently published records of this species, whether from Mt Biokovo or any other Croatian mountain. Therefore, these new records also represent the first findings of this species for Mt Biokovo in more than 140 years. Habitat loss or habitat change due to global warming could be a threat to montane species such as C. acutangulellus. Since the only known localities of C. acutangulellus in Croatia are the highest parts of Mt Biokovo, in the future it could be a threatened species in the country. Altogether 15 specimens of C. acutangulellus were collected during a field trip to Mt Biokovo, on 20th August 2019. Later on, another 15 specimens were discovered from the same area in the KuÄiniÄ Collection from CNHM in Zagreb. All specimens were collected by the second author in the 1990s. These findings reconfirm the presence of C. acutangulellus in the fauna of Croatia and provide evidence that this species is still present on Mt Biokovo.
ZANIMLJIV PRIMJERAK Leptidea duponcheli (Staudinger, 1871) U SREDIÅ NJOJ ZBIRCI DANJIH LEPTIRA HRVATSKOG PRIRODOSLOVNOG MUZEJA U ZAGREBU
A specimen of the Eastern Wood White Leptidea duponcheli (Staudinger, 1971) collected on the island of Unije in 1964 and deposited in the Central Butterfly Collection of the Croatian Natural History Museum in Zagreb is analyzed. The analysis shows, so far, that Leptidea duponcheli Staud. cannot be considered a member of the Croatian butterfly fauna, although it might be found in the Mediterranean part of Croatia, on the Croatian islands or in
Xylocampa areola (Esper, 1789), Eurois occulta (Linnaeus, 1758) i Euxoa decora (Denis & SchiffermĆ¼ller, 1775), novi elementi faune sovica (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Hrvatske
Three new noctuid species for Croatian fauna were found during entomological research in the lower part of the Neretva River and on Mt. Biokovo and Mt.Velebit: Xylocampa areola (Esper, 1789) (Neretva), Eurois occulta (Linnaeus, 1758) (Velebit Mt.) and Euxoa decora (Denis & SchiffermĆ¼ller, 1775) (Biokovo Mt.). A brief faunistic review is given for all three species, as well as their biological and zoogeographical characteristics. The distribution of the genus Euxoa HĆ¼bner (1821) in Croatia is shown.EntomoloÅ”kim istraživanjima na podruÄju donjeg toka rijeke Neretve te planina Biokovo i Velebit, utvrÄene su tri nove vrste sovica u fauni Hrvatske: Xylocampa areola (Esper, 1789) (Neretva), Eurois occulta (Linnaeus, 1758) (Velebit) i Euxoa decora (Denis & SchiffermĆ¼ller, 1775) (Biokovo).
The discovery of the butterfly False Ringelt (Coenonympha oedippus F.) in two localities in Istria, between MaruÅ”iÄi, Vranjak and Å terna (VL02, VL03) and in the valley of the Mirna Valley near Buzet (VL12) has reconfirmed this species as a member of the fauna of Croatia. At the same time, a review of the collection of the Croatian Natural History Museum has shown that specimens catalogued as C. oedippus from Mt Velebit are either not from Croatia or belong to the species Aphantopus hyperantus. There is an urgent necessity to establish the precise range and size of the population and the degree of threat to it, and to undertake legislative and active measures for the conservation of the remaining habitats of this butterfly in Croatia, since it is one of the most endangered animal species in Europe.
