Susceptibility of the Spin 1/2 Heisenberg Antiferromagnetic Chain

Highly accurate results are presented for the susceptibility, χ(T)\chi (T) of the s=1/2s=1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain for all temperatures, using the Bethe ansatz and field theory methods. After going through a rounded peak, χ(T)\chi (T) approaches its asympotic zero-temperature value with infinite slope.Comment: 8 pages and 3 postscript figures appended (uuencoded), Revtex, Report #:UBCTP-94-00

We describe a conjectural classification of Poisson vertex algebras of CFT type and of Poisson vertex algebras in one differential variable (= scalar Hamiltonian operators)

Analysis of Cumulant Moments in High Energy Hadron-Hadron Collisions by Truncated Multiplicity Distributions

    Get PDF
Oscillatory behavior of cumulant moments obtained from the experimental data in pppp collisions and pˉp\bar{p}p collisions are analyzed by the modified negative binomial distribution (MNBD) and the negative binomial distribution (NBD). Both distributions well describe the cumulant moments obtained from the data. This fact shows sharp contrast to the result in e+ee^+e^- collisions, which is described by the the MNBD much better than by the NBD.Comment: 7 pages, Latex type, 7 figure

Neutral Scalar Higgs Masses and Production Cross Sections in an Extended Supersymmetric Standard Model

Upper bounds on the three neutral scalar Higgs masses are considered in the supersymmetric standard model with a gauge singlet Higgs field. When the lightest Higgs is singlet-dominated the second lightest Higgs is shown to lie near or below the theoretical upper bound on the lightest Higgs mass. We also consider detectability of these Higgs bosons at a future e+ee^+ e^- linear collider with s300\sqrt{s}\sim 300 GeV and show that at least one of the neutral scalar Higgs has a production cross section larger than 0.04~pb.Comment: Latex 9 pages + 5 figures (not included), KEK-TH-386, KEK preprint 93-204, CHIBA-EP-7

QCD String as Vortex String in Seiberg-Dual Theory

We construct a classical vortex string solution in a Seiberg-dual theory of N=1 supersymmetric SO(N_c) QCD which flows to a confining phase. We claim that this vortex string is a QCD string, as previouly argued by M.Strassler. In SO(N_c) QCD, it is known that stable QCD strings exist even in the presence of dynamical quarks. We show that our vortex strings are stable in the Seiberg-dual theory.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figur

MIMO-OFDM systems for IEEE 802.11n WLAN Standard using ESPAR antenna

    Get PDF
This paper proposes MIMO-OFDM system for IEEE 802.11n using electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna. Although the 2 x 2 MIMO-OFDM system is capable of doubling the capacity without expanding the occupied frequency bandwidth, we can’t obtain the additional diversity gain using the linear MIMO decomposition method. The proposed method can improve the bit error rate performance of the MIMO-OFDM receiver by making efficient use of ESPAR antenna. Computer simulation result shows that the proposed scheme gives the additional diversity gain. Keywords: MIMO-OFDM, ESPAR, HTLTF, decomposition

Non-Abelian Vortices on Cylinder -- Duality between vortices and walls

We investigate vortices on a cylinder in supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theory with hypermultiplets in the fundamental representation. We identify moduli space of periodic vortices and find that a pair of wall-like objects appears as the vortex moduli is varied. Usual domain walls also can be obtained from the single vortex on the cylinder by introducing a twisted boundary condition. We can understand these phenomena as a T-duality among D-brane configurations in type II superstring theories. Using this T-duality picture, we find a one-to-one correspondence between the moduli space of non-Abelian vortices and that of kinky D-brane configurations for domain walls.Comment: 33 pages, 17 figures, v2: references added, typos corrected, the final version published in PR

Solitons in Supersymmety Breaking Meta-Stable Vacua

In recently found supersymmetry-breaking meta-stable vacua of the supersymmetric QCD, we examine possible exsitence of solitons. Homotopy groups of the moduli space of the meta-stable vacua show that there is no nontrivial soliton for SU(N_c) gauge group. When U(1)_B symmetry present in the theory is gauged, we find non-BPS solitonic (vortex) strings whose existence and properties are predicted from brane configurations. We obtain explicit classical solutions which reproduce the predicitions. For SO(N_c) gauge group, we find there are solitonic strings for N = N_f-N_c+4 = 2, and Z_2 strings for the other N. The strings are meta-stable as they live in the meta-stable vacua.Comment: 30 pages, 14 figures, Comments on stability of non-BPS vortices are added, Comments on sigma model solitons are added, An appendix is adde

Metamagnetism of antiferromagnetic XXZ quantum spin chains

The magnetization process of the one-dimensional antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model with the Ising-like anisotropic exchange interaction is studied by the exact diagonalization technique. It results in the evidence of the first-order spin flop transition with a finite magnetization jump in the N\'eel ordered phase for S1S\geq 1. It implies that the S=1/2 chain is an exceptional case where the metamagnetic transition becomes second-order due to large quantum fluctuations.Comment: 4 pages, Revtex, with 6 eps figure
