    Conformance Checking for Manufacturing Processes using Control-flow Perspective and Time Perspective

    Department of Management EngineeringRecently, the amount of manufacturing data being collected has been increasing dramatically due to growing interests of convergence of manufacturing and IT. As such, it is possible to analyze the recorded manufacturing data for various purposes. One of the most important goals of manufacturing data analysis is to understand the current situation of manufacturing processes based on comparing actual and plan data. In order to execute such analysis, conformance checking, which is to check for deviations between models and logs, can be applied. However, existing conformance checking research mostly focuses on the control-flow perspective. Thus, it is hard to apply existing conformance checking methods in the manufacturing industry since other factors such as resources, machines, groups, deadlines, and processing time needs to be determined and considered as well. Therefore, this paper proposes a comprehensive conformance checking method using the control-flow perspective and time perspective and validates the proposed method by applying actual data extracted from a manufacturing company in Korea.ope

    Design and Implementation of a Wireless Charging-Based Cardiac Monitoring System Focused on Temperature Reduction and Robust Power Transfer Efficiency

    Wireless power transfer systems are increasingly used as a means of charging implantable medical devices. However, the heat or thermal radiation from the wireless power transfer system can be harmful to biological tissue. In this research, we designed and implemented a wireless power transfer system-based implantable medical device with low thermal radiation, achieving 44.5% coil-to-coil efficiency. To suppress thermal radiation from the transmitting coil during charging, we minimized the ESR value of the transmitting coil. To increase power transfer efficiency, a ferrite film was applied on the receiving part. Based on analyses, we fabricated a cardiac monitoring system with dimensions of 17 x 24 x 8 mm(3) and implanted it in a rat. We confirmed that the temperature of the wireless charging device increased by only 2 degrees C during the 70 min charging, which makes it safe enough to use as an implantable medical device charging system.11Ysciescopu

    Synergistic Effect between Cryptotanshinone and Antibiotics against Clinic Methicillin and Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

    Cryptotanshinone (CT), a major tanshinone of medicinal plant Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, demonstrated strong antibacterial activity against clinic isolated methicillin and vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA and VRSA) in this experiment. The CT was determined against clinic isolated MRSA 1–16 with MIC and MBC values ranging from 4 to 32 and 8 to 128 μg/mL; for MSSA 1-2 from 16 to 32 μg/mL and 64 to 128 μg/mL; for VRSA 1-2 from 2 to 4 μg/mL and 4 to 16 μg/mL, respectively. The range of MIC50 and MIC90 of CT was 0.5–8 μg/mL and 4–64 μg/mL, respectively. The combination effects of CT with antibiotics were synergistic (FIC index <0.5) against most of tested clinic isolated MRSA, MSSA, and VRSA except additive, MRSA 4 and 16 in oxacillin, MRSA 6, 12, and 15 in ampicillin, and MRSA 6, 11, and 15 in vancomycin (FIC index < 0.75–1.0). Furthermore, a time-kill study showed that the growth of the tested bacteria was completely attenuated after 2–6 h of treatment with the 1/2 MIC of CT, regardless of whether it was administered alone or with ampicillin, oxacillin, or vancomycin. The results suggest that CT could be employed as a natural antibacterial agent against multidrug-resistant pathogens infection

    Functional clustering methods for binary longitudinal data with temporal heterogeneity

    In the analysis of binary longitudinal data, it is of interest to model a dynamic relationship between a response and covariates as a function of time, while also investigating similar patterns of time-dependent interactions. We present a novel generalized varying-coefficient model that accounts for within-subject variability and simultaneously clusters varying-coefficient functions, without restricting the number of clusters nor overfitting the data. In the analysis of a heterogeneous series of binary data, the model extracts population-level fixed effects, cluster-level varying effects, and subject-level random effects. Various simulation studies show the validity and utility of the proposed method to correctly specify cluster-specific varying-coefficients when the number of clusters is unknown. The proposed method is applied to a heterogeneous series of binary data in the German Socioeconomic Panel (GSOEP) study, where we identify three major clusters demonstrating the different varying effects of socioeconomic predictors as a function of age on the working status
