This paper focuses on marketing for passenger transport based on the research concerned with urban sustainable development and mobility issues and it is oriented to the conceptual discussion of Relationship Marketing to be adopted in transport policy in consonance of another productive sectors. At first, there are made comments on reasons for development of marketing strategies applications, necessary all over the world. Although some differences between the developed and developing countries are picked out, it becomes evident that new approach for marketing passenger transport is necessary and quite urgent, giving that it should be oriented not only to the market behavior, but also it should involve different actors being called to social accountability. A short review of state-of-the-art and state-of-the-practice in transport marketing, analyzing some critical aspects inherited to the transit service marketing, provides also comments on outstanding importance of social and economic activities as determinants for travel needs and travel behavior. In this context it is brought up a concept of Relationship Marketing, conceived from service marketing field. The main characteristics of this concept consist in pro-active behavior of different, public and private actors, including consumers, local communities, public agencies, transit operators, and non transport businesses. This kind of co-marketing, based on partnership, results in provision of service packages, comprising basic, facilitating, and supporting services, adapted to the clientcitizens needs, trying to retain them on transit. This approach, build on spatial activities network partnership, seems to have a good potential for urban management applications. There is also commented an Integrated Mobility Management Model based on Relationship Marketing, which tripartite framework should articulate management of activities production and accessibility production, both oriented to the client-citizens consumption and welfare

Storytelling is an ancient art, which involves a set of symbols and codes used in a similar way and with the same meaning, but adapted to each period throughout our history. Stories are, thus, told from generation to generation, acquiring different formulas as time goes by. Nowadays, we live in a world of screens and are surrounded by several types, starting with the screens of televisions and computers, and moving on to the screens of tablets, mobile phones, smartphones and mp3/mp4 players. It’s becoming increasingly relevant to integrate these devices in the process of teaching and learning, as they promote new ways of communication, learning, thinking and teaching, motivating children and students to play a more active role. The pressing need in using these devices, along with the importance of storytelling, lead us to conduct this study in an attempt to understand the potential of it’s integration in the teaching and learning process. The prime objective of this study is to contribute to a deeper perception of the potential of digital storytelling, using podcast technology in the development of learning, namely at the level of reading and writing competencies, for basic school students. The study was performed based on a research strategy supported by two major components: a review of literature and the usage of the case study “Tell us a story! Podcast in education”. With the goal of understanding, as best as possible, the potential of digital storytelling using podcast technology, a mixed approach was adopted in the drafting of the study, as it uses both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. In the first phase of the study interviews were used for data collection and in the second phase questionnaires were applied. The results achieved by this study were evaluated taking into account the investigation issues and the analysis model

[EN] Zinc oxide containing rare earth metal and Cobalt oxide are utilized as raw material to make varistors. Some of systems were found to exhibit non-ohmic current-voltaje characteristics and they are applicable not only for low voltaje devices but also for hight voltaje electric power stations. The microstructure of ZnO varistor can be considered as a vehicle thorugh which all of these properties ara manifested. Therefore, a discussion of the microstructure cannot be separated from a discussion of the properties. Fine particle dimensions and a narrow size distribution are often important aims when fabricating a ceramic material of a desired microstructure. Chemical methods give the ability to produce powders with an exceptionally small size in the nanometer range. In this paper we report the production of nanosized ZnO, doped with cobalt and Praseodymium oxides, using co-precipitation reaction and metallorganic polymeric method. Adequate description of synthesis methods and the characterization of ceramic powders obtained are show.

Assessment of the Potential Changes in Wellbeing of Key Interest Groups in the Fitzroy River Catchment Under Alternative Development Scenarios: Traditional Owners' workshop

    Get PDF
This report presents the preliminary results of a workshop held on 10 and 11 September 2019 with Traditional Owner groups in Fitzroy Crossing, aiming to develop a way to identify and assess the positive and negative effects of different future scenarios on the wellbeing of Traditional Owners across the Fitzroy River catchment. Participants discussed how several categories of wellbeing are currently satisfied in the Fitzroy catchment; and then assessed scenarios 1, 2 and 4 against those categories. Participants’ ratings generally had scenario 1 with the most positive ratings and scenarios 2 and 4 with mostly negative ratings. The negative ratings seem to be linked with an aversion to large-scale irrigated agriculture and its perceived potential impacts, especially the withdrawal of water, pollution, and limited access to Country. Participants perceived positively an increase in ranger jobs and the potential for Indigenous-owned enterprises in scenarios 1 and 2. However, many emphasised that making these jobs satisfactory required training initiatives to build Traditional Owners' capacity. The next steps include a more comprehensive analysis of participants' comments, reporting back to participants and to a broader audience

This report presents the preliminary results of a workshop held on 15 and 16 October 2019 in Broome, aiming to develop a way to identify and assess the likely positive and negative effects of different future development scenarios on the wellbeing of key interest groups in the Fitzroy River catchment. Participants discussed how several categories of wellbeing are currently satisfied in the Fitzroy catchment and then assessed a set of future scenarios against those categories. Participants’ ratings followed a similar pattern, with scenarios 1A, 1B and 2 (strong policies) being rated positively by the majority of participants, and scenarios 3 and 4 (weak policies) being rated mostly negatively. The common pattern reflects a recurrent theme in participants’ comments regarding the need for good governance, strong policies, and regulation of economic activities so that residents can benefit from such new development initiatives. Conversely, in weak policy scenarios, there could be negative social and environmental impacts that would affect residents and the eventual economic benefits could be reaped by fewer locals, or by non-residents (e.g. corporations and temporary workers)

[EN] Aims: We have developed a direct viable count (DVC)-FISH procedure for quickly and easily discriminating between viable and nonviable cells of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus strains, the traditional yogurt bacteria. Methods and Results: direct viable count method has been modified and adapted for Lact. delbrueckii subsp, bulgaricus and Strep. thermophilus analysis by testing different times of incubation and concentrations of DNA-gyrase inhibitors. DVC procedure has been combined with fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) for the specific detection of viable cells of both bacteria with specific rRNA oligonucleotide probes (DVC-FISH). Of the four antibiotics tested (novobiocin, nalidixic acid, pipemidic acid and ciprofloxacin), novobiocin was the most effective for DVC method and the optimum incubation time was 7 h for both bacteria. The number of viable cells was obtained by the enumeration of specific hybridized cells that were elongated at least twice their original length for Lactobacillus and twice their original size for Streptococcus. Conclusions: This technique was successfully applied to detect viable cells in inoculated faeces. Significance and Impact of the Study: Results showed that this DVC-FISH procedure is a quick and culture-independent useful method to specifically detect viable Lact, delbrueckii subsp, bulgaricus and Strep thermophilus in different samples, being applied for the first time to lactic acid bacteria.García Hernández, J.; Moreno Trigos, MY.; Amorocho Cruz, CM.; Hernández Pérez, M.
