A blowout jet associated with one obvious extreme-ultraviolet wave and one complicated coronal mass ejection event

In this paper, we present a detailed analysis of a coronal blowout jet eruption which was associated with an obvious extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) wave and one complicated coronal mass ejection (CME) event based on the multi-wavelength and multi-view-angle observations from {\sl Solar Dynamics Observatory} and {\sl Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory}. It is found that the triggering of the blowout jet was due to the emergence and cancellation of magnetic fluxes on the photosphere. During the rising stage of the jet, the EUV wave appeared just ahead of the jet top, lasting about 4 minutes and at a speed of 458 - \speed{762}. In addition, obvious dark material is observed along the EUV jet body, which confirms the observation of a mini-filament eruption at the jet base in the chromosphere. Interestingly, two distinct but overlapped CME structures can be observed in corona together with the eruption of the blowout jet. One is in narrow jet-shape, while the other one is in bubble-shape. The jet-shaped component was unambiguously related with the outwardly running jet itself, while the bubble-like one might either be produced due to the reconstruction of the high coronal fields or by the internal reconnection during the mini-filament ejection according to the double-CME blowout jet model firstly proposed by Shen et al. (2012b), suggesting more observational evidence should be supplied to clear the current ambiguity based on large samples of blowout jets in future studies.Comment: APJ, Accepted October 19, 201

Enhanced spin-orbit torques in MnAl/Ta films with improving chemical ordering

We report the enhancement of spin-orbit torques in MnAl/Ta films with improving chemical ordering through annealing. The switching current density is increased due to enhanced saturation magnetization MS and effective anisotropy field HK after annealing. Both damplinglike effective field HD and fieldlike effective field HF have been increased in the temperature range of 50 to 300 K. HD varies inversely with MS in both of the films, while the HF becomes liner dependent on 1/MS in the annealed film. We infer that the improved chemical ordering has enhanced the interfacial spin transparency and the transmitting of the spin current in MnAl layer

Critical points of Wang-Yau quasi-local energy

In this paper, we prove the following theorem regarding the Wang-Yau quasi-local energy of a spacelike two-surface in a spacetime: Let Σ\Sigma be a boundary component of some compact, time-symmetric, spacelike hypersurface Ω\Omega in a time-oriented spacetime NN satisfying the dominant energy condition. Suppose the induced metric on Σ\Sigma has positive Gaussian curvature and all boundary components of Ω\Omega have positive mean curvature. Suppose HH0H \le H_0 where HH is the mean curvature of Σ\Sigma in Ω\Omega and H0H_0 is the mean curvature of Σ\Sigma when isometrically embedded in R3R^3. If Ω\Omega is not isometric to a domain in R3R^3, then 1. the Brown-York mass of Σ\Sigma in Ω\Omega is a strict local minimum of the Wang-Yau quasi-local energy of Σ\Sigma, 2. on a small perturbation Σ~\tilde{\Sigma} of Σ\Sigma in NN, there exists a critical point of the Wang-Yau quasi-local energy of Σ~\tilde{\Sigma}.Comment: substantially revised, main theorem replaced, Section 3 adde

Quantisation of 2D-gravity with Weyl and area-preserving diffeomorphism invariances

    Get PDF
The constraint structure of 2D-gravity with the Weyl and area-preserving diffeomorphism invariances is analysed in the ADM formulation. It is found that when the area-preserving diffeomorphism constraints are kept, the usual conformal gauge does not exist, whereas there is the possibility to choose the so-called ``quasi-light-cone'' gauge, in which besides the area-preserving diffeomorphism invariance, the reduced Lagrangian also possesses the SL(2,R) residual symmetry. The string-like approach is applied to quantise this model, but a fictitious non-zero central charge in the Virasoro algebra appears. When a set of gauge-independent SL(2,R) current-like fields is introduced instead of the string-like variables, a consistent quantum theory is obtained.Comment: 14 pages, Latex fil
