Bilateral Laryngoceles in Association with Squamos Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report and Literature Review

Coexistence of laryngoceles and laryngeal carcinoma is still being debated, and there are several suggested theories about the pathophysiological relationship between these two entities. We present the case of a 66-year-old male patient with bilateral laryngomucoceles and laryngeal squamos cell carcinoma. A systematic hystological examination of whole organ sections showed that the submucosal spreading of cancer around the saccular necks on both sides caused stenosis which probably created a one-way valve mechanism allowing air to enter the saccule but not to exit. Progression of the tumor completely obstructed the laryngeal opening, leading to glandular secretion stagnation and formation of laryngomucoceles

Cilj. Objective. To identify the incidence of the cervix cancer in pregnant women and to describe the characteristics of each individual case that was diagnosed. Methods. In the period from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2004 are Āanalyzed 16,071 pregnant women who were hospitalized at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinical ĀHospital Osijek. Results. Histological finding of cervical cancer was established in 4 pregnant women (2.5 out of 10,000), and 22 pregnant women (14 out of 10,000) had precancerous lesions (CIN III). Average age of pregnant women with Ācancer was 35.5 years, and average age of women with invasive cervical cancer was in general 53.4 years. One pregnant woman had FIGO stage IA1, two women had stage IB2, and one had stage IIA. The size of the primary tumor in pregnant women with clinical cancer was 6, 6.5 and 7 cm, and all treated women had positive lymph nodes in the small pelvis (1, 5 and 9 nodes). Conclusion. In one case there was an early stromal invasion (<1 mm), which practically belongs to precancerous lesions, considering the treatment method and prediction. All other cases were clinical cancers with a large Āprimary tumor and positive lymph nodes in the small pelvis. A patient in whom the cancer was diagnosed after parturition, died very soon after the surgery, and the others are under regular control and no illness recurrence has been noticed

Progresija tumora potpuno zatvara laringealni otvor, a Å”to dovodi do stagnacije žljezdane sekrecije i stvaranja laringomukokele
