    Recognizing Different Foot Deformities Using FSR Sensors by Static Classification of Neural Networks

    تُعَدُّ أنظمة النعال الحسّاسة للحركة تقنية واعدة للعديد من التطبيقات في الرعاية الصحية والرياضة. حيث يمكن أن توفّر هذه الأنظمة معلومات قيّمة حول توزيع الضغط على القدم وأنماط المشي لأفراد مختلفين. ومع ذلك، فإن تصميم وتنفيذ مثل هذه الأنظمة يواجه العديد من التحديات، مثل اختيار الحسّاسات والمعايرة ومعالجة البيانات والتفسير. في هذه الدراسة، نقترح نظام نعل حساس باستخدام مقاومات استشعار القوى  لقياس الضغط المطبّق من القدم على مناطق مختلفة من النعل. يقوم هذا النظام بتصنيف أربعة أنواع من تشوهات القدم: طبيعي، مسطح، انحراف القدم إلى الداخل، وزيادة انحراف القدم إلى الخارج. تستخدم مرحلة التصنيف قيم الضغط الفرقية على نقاط الضغط كمدخلات لنموذج التغذية الأمامية للشبكات العصبية. تم جمع البيانات من 60 فرداً تم تشخيصهم بالحالات المدروسة. حقق تنفيذ التغذية الأمامية للشبكات العصبية دقة بنسبة 96.6٪ باستخدام 50٪ من المجموعة البيانية كبيانات تدريبية و 92.8٪ باستخدام 30٪ من البيانات التدريبية فقط. ويوضح المقارنة مع الأعمال ذات الصلة الأثر الإيجابي لاستخدام القيم الفرق لنقاط الضغط كمدخلات للشبكات العصبية مقارنة بالبيانات الأولية.Sensing insole systems are a promising technology for various applications in healthcare and sports. They can provide valuable information about the foot pressure distribution and gait patterns of different individuals. However, designing and implementing such systems poses several challenges, such as sensor selection, calibration, data processing, and interpretation. This paper proposes a sensing insole system that uses force-sensitive resistors (FSRs) to measure the pressure exerted by the foot on different regions of the insole. This system classifies four types of foot deformities: normal, flat, over-pronation, and excessive supination. The classification stage uses the differential values of pressure points as input for a feedforward neural network (FNN) model. Data acquisition involved 60 subjects diagnosed with the studied cases. The implementation of FNN achieved an accuracy of 96.6% using 50% of the dataset as training data and 92.8% using only 30% training data. The comparison with related work shows good impact of using the differential values of pressure points as input for neural networks compared with raw data

    Bulan muharram adalah  bulan yang mulia dalam agama Islam, bulan ini menjadi istimewa disebabkan dalam sejarah banyak peristiwa penting yang terjadi dibulan Muharram, keutamaan paling besar pada bulan muharram terjadi di hari 10 muharram sering disebut sebagai hari ‘Asyura. Pada hari ‘Asyuro ummat muslim disunnahkan berpuasa sebagaimana disunnahkan dalam hadits nabi Muhammad SAW, dibeberapa daerah ada istilah bubur Asyura (membubur sekampug untuk bukaan puasa). Kegiatan ini baru pertama kali dilaksanakan di desa Parupuk Jae, Dalam kegiatan ini menggunakan metode PAR (Participatory Action Research); yaitu berangkat dari  permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat kemudian dilakukan pemecahan masalah bersama. Dari hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini masyarakat merasa senang dan bangga dengan adanya kegiatan ini dibuktikan dengan antusiasnya mereka dalam menyemarakkan 10 muharram ini serta kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi awal untuk kegiatan dalam menyemarakkan hari hari besar ummat islam sehingga bisa menumbuhkan kesadaran serta semangat beragama guna pengamalan agama yang lebih tinggi di masyarakat. Muharram month is a noble month in Islam, this month becomes special because in history many important events that occur in the month of Muharram, the greatest virtue in the month of Muharram occurs on the 10th day of Muharram often referred to as the day of 'Ashura. On the day of 'Ashuro Muslims are advised to fast as recommended in the hadith of the prophet Muhammad SAW, in some areas there is a term bubur Asyura (burying sekampug for fasting). This activity was carried out for the first time in the village of Parupuk Jae, in this activity using the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method; namely, departing from the problems that exist in the community and then solving problems together. From the results of this community service activity, the community feels happy and proud of this activity as evidenced by their enthusiasm in enlivening the 10th of Muharram and this activity is expected to be the beginning of activities to enliven the holidays of Muslims so that it can foster religious awareness and enthusiasm for higher religious practice in the community

    Attitude of Syrian students toward GAD patients: An online cross-sectional study

    Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a prevalent condition and a significant cause of mental disability and poor quality of life. People with GAD have chronic worrying, restlessness, and discrimination from the general public; Little is known about the stigmatizing attitudes toward people with GAD among Syrian students. The questionnaires contained demographic data about age, gender, social status, personal stigma toward GAD scale, perceived stigma toward GAD scale, social distance with those with GAD, the participants' usual source of their knowledge about GAD, helpful interventions, and supporting information. A total of 1,370 replies were collected, but only 1,358 were used for analysis as 12 participants declined to complete the survey. About 44.1% of participants agreed that people with GAD could snap out of the problem, most of them being females (32.4% of the total population). Compared to medical students, more non-medical students (7.1% of the total population) believed that anxiety is a sign of personal weakness. This study demonstrated that Syrian college students showed a high level of stigmatizing and socially distancing attitudes toward people with GAD, particularly female and non-medical students

    Knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to COVID‐19 infection, related behavior, antibiotics usage, and resistance among Syrian population: A cross‐sectional study

    Abstract Background and Aims Antibiotic resistance is seen as a worldwide health risk as a result of the overuse of antibiotics. Many countries noted that antibiotic usage was high during the COVID‐19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to evaluate Syrians' knowledge, attitudes, and practice about the use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance during the COVID‐19 epidemic. Methods A cross‐sectional study was conducted using an online questionnaire to collect the data from the Syrian population from February 5 to March 4, 2022. Syrians 18 years or older all over the world were able to participate in this study. A convenience snowball sampling method was used. SPSS version 20.0 was used to analyze the data. To examine the results, binominal logistic regression was used. Statistical significance was defined as a p < 0.05. Results Out of 2406 respondents, 60.2% knew that transmission of COVID‐19 could occur even if the patient has not developed any symptoms, and 91.6% were able to recognize the main clinical symptoms of COVID‐19. There was a statistically significant difference between male and female knowledge of COVID‐19 (p = 0.002), with males having 3.78 ± 2.1 (2.7–3.87) and females scoring 3.93 ± 2.3 (3.7–4.1). Newly graduated students have more knowledge of COVID‐19 than other subtypes of Job (p = 0.0001), and those with medical practice are more knowledgeable than those without (p = 0.0001). Only 16.6% answered that taking antibiotics would not speed up the recovery from all the infections. 65.3% answered correctly that misuse of antibiotics could cause antibiotic resistance. Conclusion Our study concluded that the Syrian population demonstrated good knowledge of COVID‐19 and moderate acceptance of the new norm. Knowledge regarding antibiotic use and resistance and practice of preventive measures was poor, which can encourage the health authorities to develop community education programs to increase public awareness of the usage of antibiotics and safety protocols during the COVID‐19 pandemic

    SARS-CoV-2 vaccination modelling for safe surgery to save lives: data from an international prospective cohort study

    Background: Preoperative SARS-CoV-2 vaccination could support safer elective surgery. Vaccine numbers are limited so this study aimed to inform their prioritization by modelling. Methods: The primary outcome was the number needed to vaccinate (NNV) to prevent one COVID-19-related death in 1 year. NNVs were based on postoperative SARS-CoV-2 rates and mortality in an international cohort study (surgical patients), and community SARS-CoV-2 incidence and case fatality data (general population). NNV estimates were stratified by age (18-49, 50-69, 70 or more years) and type of surgery. Best- and worst-case scenarios were used to describe uncertainty. Results: NNVs were more favourable in surgical patients than the general population. The most favourable NNVs were in patients aged 70 years or more needing cancer surgery (351; best case 196, worst case 816) or non-cancer surgery (733; best case 407, worst case 1664). Both exceeded the NNV in the general population (1840; best case 1196, worst case 3066). NNVs for surgical patients remained favourable at a range of SARS-CoV-2 incidence rates in sensitivity analysis modelling. Globally, prioritizing preoperative vaccination of patients needing elective surgery ahead of the general population could prevent an additional 58 687 (best case 115 007, worst case 20 177) COVID-19-related deaths in 1 year. Conclusion: As global roll out of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination proceeds, patients needing elective surgery should be prioritized ahead of the general population

    Pancreatic surgery outcomes: multicentre prospective snapshot study in 67 countries

    Background: Pancreatic surgery remains associated with high morbidity rates. Although postoperative mortality appears to have improved with specialization, the outcomes reported in the literature reflect the activity of highly specialized centres. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes following pancreatic surgery worldwide.Methods: This was an international, prospective, multicentre, cross-sectional snapshot study of consecutive patients undergoing pancreatic operations worldwide in a 3-month interval in 2021. The primary outcome was postoperative mortality within 90 days of surgery. Multivariable logistic regression was used to explore relationships with Human Development Index (HDI) and other parameters.Results: A total of 4223 patients from 67 countries were analysed. A complication of any severity was detected in 68.7 percent of patients (2901 of 4223). Major complication rates (Clavien-Dindo grade at least IIIa) were 24, 18, and 27 percent, and mortality rates were 10, 5, and 5 per cent in low-to-middle-, high-, and very high-HDI countries respectively. The 90-day postoperative mortality rate was 5.4 per cent (229 of 4223) overall, but was significantly higher in the low-to-middle-HDI group (adjusted OR 2.88, 95 per cent c.i. 1.80 to 4.48). The overall failure-to-rescue rate was 21 percent; however, it was 41 per cent in low-to-middle-compared with 19 per cent in very high-HDI countries.Conclusion: Excess mortality in low-to-middle-HDI countries could be attributable to failure to rescue of patients from severe complications. The authors call for a collaborative response from international and regional associations of pancreatic surgeons to address management related to death from postoperative complications to tackle the global disparities in the outcomes of pancreatic surgery (NCT04652271; ISRCTN95140761)

    Characteristics and outcomes of COVID-19 patients admitted to hospital with and without respiratory symptoms

    Background: COVID-19 is primarily known as a respiratory illness; however, many patients present to hospital without respiratory symptoms. The association between non-respiratory presentations of COVID-19 and outcomes remains unclear. We investigated risk factors and clinical outcomes in patients with no respiratory symptoms (NRS) and respiratory symptoms (RS) at hospital admission. Methods: This study describes clinical features, physiological parameters, and outcomes of hospitalised COVID-19 patients, stratified by the presence or absence of respiratory symptoms at hospital admission. RS patients had one or more of: cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose or wheezing; while NRS patients did not. Results: Of 178,640 patients in the study, 86.4&nbsp;% presented with RS, while 13.6&nbsp;% had NRS. NRS patients were older (median age: NRS: 74 vs RS: 65) and less likely to be admitted to the ICU (NRS: 36.7&nbsp;% vs RS: 37.5&nbsp;%). NRS patients had a higher crude in-hospital case-fatality ratio (NRS 41.1&nbsp;% vs. RS 32.0&nbsp;%), but a lower risk of death after adjusting for confounders (HR 0.88 [0.83-0.93]). Conclusion: Approximately one in seven COVID-19 patients presented at hospital admission without respiratory symptoms. These patients were older, had lower ICU admission rates, and had a lower risk of in-hospital mortality after adjusting for confounders
