    BREXIT Election:Forecasting a Conservative Party Victory through the Pound using ARIMA and Facebook\u27s Prophet

    On the 30th October, 2019, the markets watched as British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, took a massive political gamble to call a general election to break the Withdrawal Agreement stalemate in the House of Commons to “Get BREXIT Done”. The pound had been politically sensitive owing to BREXIT uncertainty. With the polls indicating a Conservative win on 4thDecember, 2019, the margin of victory could be observed through increases in the pound. The outcome of a Conservative party victory would benefit the pound by removing the current market turbulence. We look to provide a short-term forecast of the pound. Our approach focuses on modelling the GBP/EUR and GBP/USD Fx from the inception of BREXIT referendum talks from the 1stJanuary, 2016 to the conclusion of the BREXIT election on the 12thDecember, 2019, focusing on forecasted increases in the pound from the 4thDecember, 2019. We construct two machine learning models in the form of an Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) financial time series and an additive regression financial time series using Facebook’s Prophet to investigate the hypothesis that the polls prediction of a Conservative victory could be validated by forecasted increases in the pound. The efficiency of the forecasted models was then tested based on MAPE and MSE criteria. Our results found that the ARIMA and Prophet models were effective and proficient in forecasting the polls prediction on the 4thDecember, 2019 of a Conservative win by validation of forecasted increases in the pound. The ARIMA (4,1,0) model resulted in forecasts with the lowest MAPE and MAE

    Bibliometric analysis of quality of life in implant-based breast reconstruction

    Background: Implant-based breast reconstruction (IBR), following mastectomy, significantly impacts patients’ quality of life (QoL), necessitating accurate measurement through psychometrically robust patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) tools. This bibliometric analysis aims to discern trends, identify gaps, and evaluate the use of such tools in the IBR literature. Methods: The 100 most cited publications regarding QoL in implant-based reconstruction were identified on Web of Science, across all available journal years (from 1977 to 2024) on 10 March 2024. Study details, including the citation count, main content focus, outcome measures, and usage of psychological questionnaires, were extracted and tabulated from each publication. The Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (OCEBM) levels of evidence (LOE) of each study were assessed. Results: The 100 most cited publications on QoL in implant-based reconstruction were identified, encompassing 64,192 patients and 28,114 reconstructed breasts. Citations per publication ranged from 62 to 457 (mean, 124.95 ± 73.05), with the highest-cited study being authored by Al-Ghazal (n = 457). The vast majority of publications were LOE II (n = 52), representative of prospective cohort studies, systematic reviews of non-randomised studies, and systematic review and meta-analysis. The number of publications for LOE V, IV, III, and I was 0, 7, 41, and 0, respectively. The main content focus was “quality of life” in 83 publications, with significant utilisation of the BREAST-Q questionnaire. A total of 80 publications used validated questionnaires with psychometric development. Conclusions: This analysis demonstrates that the research methodologies within IBR mostly consist of moderate-quality publications; however, notably, there was a lack of LOE I studies, underscoring a gap in high-quality research within the field. Moreover, only 62/100 used validated PROM tools. Future IBR research studies should be focussed on most robust methodologies, incorporating validated PROM tools, to optimise shared-decision making and informed consent

    Evidence of polyphase deformation in gneissic rocks around Devgadh Bariya: implications for evolution of Godhra Granite in the Southern Aravalli Region (India)

    In this paper, field evidence documenting the polydeformed nature of banded gneiss that comprises a part of the Godhra Granite and Gneiss in the southern portion of Aravalli Mountain Belt (AMB), India, is presented. The structural geometry involving an episode of recumbent-reclined folding in the gneiss lying in the vicinity of Devgadh Bariya town is worked out. The banded gneiss occurs as enclaves in the granite. Therefore, it is suggested that the banded gneiss of the region is older than Godhra Granite. Microstructures preserved in the granitic rocks are documented and it is suggested that the granitic rocks underwent deformation and strain during their evolutionary history. Variation in the mesoscopic scale fabric of the gneiss and granite along a south-to-north traverse within the study area is documented, and different possibilities for evolution of Godhra Granite are discussed
