Itinerant quantum critical point with frustration and non-Fermi-liquid

Employing the self-learning quantum Monte Carlo algorithm, we investigate the frustrated transverse-field triangle-lattice Ising model coupled to a Fermi surface. Without fermions, the spin degrees of freedom undergoes a second-order quantum phase transition between paramagnetic and clock-ordered phases. This quantum critical point (QCP) has an emergent U(1) symmetry and thus belongs to the (2+1)D XY universality class. In the presence of fermions, spin fluctuations introduce effective interactions among fermions and distort the bare Fermi surface towards an interacting one with hot spots and Fermi pockets. Near the QCP, non-Fermi-liquid behavior are observed at the hot spots, and the QCP is rendered into a different universality with Hertz-Millis type exponents. The detailed properties of this QCP and possibly related experimental systems are also discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure

In the molecule of the title compound, C22H26F4O8, a crystallographic inversion centre is located at the centroid of the benzene ring. C—H⋯F and C—H⋯O intramolecular hydrogen bonds are observed as well as an intermolecular C—H⋯O interaction

Quantum phases of SrCu2(BO3)2 from high-pressure thermodynamics

We report heat capacity measurements of SrCu2_2(BO3_3)2_2 under high pressure along with simulations of relevant quantum spin models and map out the (P,T)(P,T) phase diagram of the material. We find a first-order quantum phase transition between the low-pressure quantum dimer paramagnet and a phase with signatures of a plaquette-singlet state below T = 22 K. At higher pressures, we observe a transition into a previously unknown antiferromagnetic state below 44 K. Our findings can be explained within the two-dimensional Shastry-Sutherland quantum spin model supplemented by weak inter-layer couplings. The possibility to tune SrCu2_2(BO3_3)2_2 between the plaquette-singlet and antiferromagnetic states opens opportunities for experimental tests of quantum field theories and lattice models involving fractionalized excitations, emergent symmetries, and gauge fluctuations.Comment: 6 pages + 8 pages supplemental informatio

Congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation of lung in adults: 2 rare cases report and review of the literature

    Get PDF
Congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation (CCAM), also named congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM), is a congenital abnormality of lung which is uncommon in adults. Here we present 2 adult cases of CCAM with unusual clinical and pathologic findings. One case was complicated with aspergillosis which was seldom reported. The other case was suffered bilateral lesions and the patient's mother had been previously radiographically discovered bilateral cystic lesions that CCAM could not be ruled out. A review of currently published related literatures has also been provided

AbstractObjectiveTo analyze the syndrome characteristics in patients with chronic persistent asthma.Methods365 patients (121 males, 244 females, 60.8 ± 29.1 years old) with chronic persistent asthma were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. The information of syndrome, symptoms, signs, tongue coating and pulse were collected from all patients. The syndrome characteristics of chronic persistent asthma were examined through the multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) analysis and the results were verified by the Chi-square test.ResultsThe results of the MDR analysis and the Chi-square test showed the following positive correlation of the interaction among: the deficiency syndrome of the lung and spleen and deep pulse, disinclination to talk due to lack of qi, fatigue, lassitude and thick tongue coating; the deficiency syndrome of the lung and kidney and dizziness and disinclination to talk due to lack of qi, fatigue, lassitude and pallid complexion; the syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung and rapid pulse, abdominal distension, disinclination to talk due to lack of qi, frequent urination and lassitude; the syndrome of phlegm-dampness obstructing the lung and disinclination to talk due to lack of qi, greasy coating, fatigue and lassitude. (P < .05 for all).ConclusionThe syndrome of chronic persistent asthma is characterized by fatigue and lassitude due to dysfunction of the lung, spleen and kidney
