Alkylresorcinols in rye (Secale cereale L.) caryopses. III. Application of detergents for extraction of proteins and alkylresorcinols
In the work here described sodium dodecyl sulphate solutions (SDS), tween 80 and triton X 100 were used for isolation of proteins and 5-n-alkylresorcinols from ground rye grain. It was found that the above named detergents extract different protein and various amounts of alkylresorcin derivatives. The results indicate that 5-n-alkylresorcinols are localized in the membraneous structures of rye caryopses
Alkylresorcinols in rye (Secale cereale L.) grains. II. Dependence of alkylresorcinols level on weight and specific weight of grains
A relation was found between the alkylresoroinols content and the weight of single grains, their specific weight and situation in the ear. In the group of grains with high specific weight (above 1.300 g/cm3) the relative alkykesorcinols content proved to be a constant value, whereas the total content was positively correlated with the grain weight. A negative correlation was found between the specific weight and the relative alkylresorcinols content decreasing from tip to base of ear. In the apical zone of growth grains with low specific weight (below 1.260 g/cm3) constitute 70 per cent, and in the middle and base of the ear 30 per cent of all grains in the given zone
Alkylresorcinols of rye (Secale cereale L.) caryopses IV. Three-step preparation of 5-n-alkylresorcinols
Whole rye or wheat grains were extracted with acetone at room temperature. The extracts were pooled and acetone was evaporated. The remaining acetone oil was washed out with n-pentane until a colourless filtrate was obtained. The residue was dried, then dissolved in chloroform-acetone (95:5) mixture and separated by column chromatography on silica gel. The fractions containing 5-n-alkylresorcinols were pooled, condensed and crystallised from n-hexane. The preparation obtained was homogeneous in thin-layer chromatography and gave the UV spectrum characteristic for 5-n-alkyl derivatives of resorcinol
