    The Budding Hemp Industry: The Effect of Texas House Bill 1325 on Employment Drug Policies

    Contemporary attitudes toward cannabis use in the United States have shifted from War on Drugsera prohibition toward decriminalization over the past two decades. As states that do not seek to decriminalize marijuana nonetheless enact legislation legalizing CBD, policy tensions arise. In 2019, Texas joined the ranks of states that legalized hemp and hemp-derived products with the passage of House Bill 1325. In light of this legislation, this Article discusses the implications of legalized cannabidiol (CBD) on employment drug policies in Texas. The benefits of CBD legalization must be weighed against the practical implications to effectively balance policies that aim to protect employees and employers with potentially divergent interests. This Article examines the various sources of employment protection in Texas and advocates for an amendment to H.B 1325 that raises the threshold of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabidiol (THC) content permitted in hemp, an adoption of administrative rules modeled after those established by the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, and an amendment to the Texas Labor Code. This approach places the burden on CBD sellers to verify that their products are consistent with claimed CBD content, ensures that the products produce no psychoactive effects, allows room for error in the event of inconsistent THC content, and protects individuals who are mistakenly deemed as using illegal drugs

    Effective Pedagogical Strategies for STEM Education from Instructors’ Perspective: OER for Educators

    The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) OpenCourseWare (OCW) was launched in 2001. It is one of the earliest Open Educational Resources (OER). MIT OCW has published more than 2,400 courses which are available at no cost, the majority of which are STEM related. The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine the pedagogical strategies through reviewing instructor insights of 15 MIT OCW STEM courses using thematic analysis. The most effective pedagogical strategies used found by instructors were active learning, personalizing instruction, engaging learners, providing feedback, building learning community, and clarifying learning objective. Instructors used in-class formative assessment, such as quizzes and oral exams, for just-in-time teaching and online automatic assessment environments for students’ self-assessment. The primary summative assessments were final exams and projects. Instructors encountered challenges such as assessing students’ learning and changing pedagogical beliefs. Implications for practice were discussed as well

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur dan nilai keagamaan yang ada dalam novel Prabu Anom Jayadéwata karya Yoséph Iskandar. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini bisa dijadikan pelengkap bahan pembelajaran membaca novel di SMA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analitik terhadap novel Prabu Anom Jayadéwata karya Yoséph Iskandar dan menggunakan teknik studi pustaka. Hasilnya yaitu: Pertama, tema dalam novel Prabu Anom Jayadéwata yaitu tentang perjuangan Pamanahrasa untuk mempersatukan kembali Negri Galuh dan Sunda. Galurnya yaitu galur maju. Latar dalam novel ini berkisah di kerajaan, sedangkan latar waktu yang digunakan lebih banyak faktual. Pelaku yang terdapat pada novel ini ada 21 orang. Sudut pandang yang dipakai oleh pengarang yaitu sudut pandang orang ketiga serba tahu. Bahasa yang digunakan adalah bahasa sehari-hari; Kedua, nilai keagamaan yang ada dalam novel ini adalah tentang pentingnya akhlak, tauhid, dan ibadah. Salah satunya adalah akhlak ke diri sendiri yaitu bersifat harus sabar, tawadhu, dan tanggung jawab sama tugasnya. Novel Prabu Anom Jayadéwata karya Yoséph Iskandar bisa dijadikan bahan pembelajaran membaca novel di SMA karena telah memenuhi kriteria memilih bahan pembelajaran. Kata Kunci: bahan pembelajaran, nilai keagamaan, struktural. This study aims to describe the structure and religious values in the novel Prabu Anom Jayadéwata by Yoséph Iskandar. In addition, the results of this study can be used as a complementary study material for reading novels in high school. The method used in this research is analytic descriptive of the novel Prabu Anom Jayadéwata by Yoséph Iskandar and using literature study techniques. The results are: First, the theme in the novel Prabu Anom Jayadéwata is about the struggle of Pamanahrasa to reunite the land of Galuh and Sunda. the flow is forward. The setting in this novel revolves around the kingdom, while the time setting used is more factual. There are 21 characters in this novel. The point of view used by the author is the viewpoint of a third person who knows everything. Language: Second, the religious values contained in this novel are about the importance of morals , monotheism , and worship. One of them is the morals to oneself that is to be patient , tawadhu , and responsibility with their duties. Prabu Anom Jayadéwata novel by Yoséph Iskandar can be used as learning material for reading novels in high school because it meets the criteria for selecting learning materials. Muitas empresas multinacionais apareceram. Antes de entrar nos países anfitriões, é necessário levar em consideração todos os fatores que podem afetar seu desempenho comercial. Portanto, a escolha do modo de entrada de marketing internacional torna-se particularmente importante para as empresas multinacionais. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo discutir a relação entre estandardização e adaptação da estratégia de marketing internacional e seu desempenho correspondente em empresas multinacionais. Com base na pesquisa e análise da estratégia global de estandardização e adaptação, este artigo discute dois argumentos de suporte, esclarece sua base teórica e o impacto de dois modos diferentes das empresas multinacionais, no seu desempenho. Após resumir a literatura anterior, este artigo propõe as hipóteses de que a estratégia de marketing padronizada/adaptável afetará o desempenho e usa os dados da pesquisa de empresas multinacionais para avaliar o melhor caminho. A análise empírica mostra que a estratégia de marketing estandardização tem um impacto positivo no desempenho. Foi confirmado que a estratégia de marketing de estandardização influencia positivamente o desempenho global da empresa e, em particular, o desempenho do marketing. As conclusões obtidas têm certo valor de referência para as empresas multinacionais.With the intensification of international competition and development of new markets, enterprises of different scales and industries are expanding overseas at an unprecedented rate, more and more Multinational Corporations had emerged as the times require. Before entering the host countries, it is necessary to take into account all factors that can affect its business performance. So the choice of international marketing mode becomes particularly important to Multinational Corporations. This research is aimed at discussing the relationship between standardization/adaptation of international marketing strategy and their corresponding performance for multinational corporations. Based on the research and analysis of global standardization and adaptation strategy, this paper discusses two supporting arguments with standardization and adaptation, clarifies their theoretical basis and the impact on two different modes of Multinational Corporations on performance. After summarizing and combing the previous literature, this paper puts forward the hypothesis that whether the standardized/adaptive marketing strategy will affect the performance and uses the survey data onto multinational corporations to verify it. Empirical analysis shows that standardized marketing strategy has a positive impact on performance. It was confirmed that standardization marketing strategy positively influences the global performance of the company and the performance particularly. Nowadays, however, with the rapid pace of social, environmental change, the factors affecting consumer behavior are more various and complex than before. This article explores some important individual variables that will induce impulse buying, either consciously or unconsciously, such as, self-discrepancy and susceptibility to social influence. Here, I hypothesize that different types of predominant self-discrepancy will lead to differences in impulse buying tendency both in fully and partially through a desire to compensate. Besides, individuals susceptibility to social influence may moderate the effects of the predominant self-discrepancy on impulse buying tendency both directly and indirectly.
