Throughout this report it is presented the description and the reflection of the path lived and experienced during the Practice and Supervised Intervention in a Daycare center and a Kindergarten, under the path of an investigation-action. After knowing the educational context and identify the interests and needs of the children, we conceived and implemented the action and study guided by the following objectives: create and/or adapt activities and sequences of practical activities on sciences suitable for pre-school education; create a mobile area (Science Chest) has an inductor of science education; analyze the impact of the practical activities implemented on the schooling and the interest of the children by science; analyze the impact of the mobile area of sciences as a dynamizing strategy of science education. The analysis of the gathered data allows us to understand the importance of an intentional, systematic and structured approach to science education, specifically on a group of 23 children with ages between 3 and 6 years old, based on practical activities that provide exploring and discovering opportunities that in fact drew-in the children on the (re)construction of their knowledge as well as development of capabilities and behavior related to science. The path lived, on the scope of the investigation-action, was characterized by moments of reflection, interpretation and analysis of the gathered data. This data allowed not only the management and development of the pedagogical action but it also contributed in a way we won’t forget to our professional formation. Each stage of the study boosted our “know-how”, encouraging the professional and personal development as well as future reflective teachers and critics of pre-school education

Objective: Evaluate how health professionals perceive the pain in the NBs hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Method: This is a descriptive, exploratory research with a qualitative approach, developed in the maternity hospital Instituto de Saúde Elpídio de Almeida (ISEA), in the period from February to March 2016, after approval by the Research Ethics Committee (CESED), where the technique of data collection was through an interview with a prior script divided into two parts: the first part deals with socio-demographic issues, while the second part deals with issues related to pain in the NB, where they were recorded and transcribed in their entirety, using the content treatment through content analysis of the thematic type proposed by Laurence Bardin. Results: The results show that all health professionals perceive the pain in the neonate, where three categories emerged: "relates the evaluation of pain with physiological and behavioral measurements"; "know, but do not evaluate with pain score", "do not evaluate with pain score". Regarding the use of some method for pain relief, two categories emerged: "use of non-pharmacological methods for pain relief"; "Use of simultaneous pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods". Conclusion: All the professionals contributed to the growth of this research, being necessary more studies about the pain, mainly with regard to the use of multidimensional scales, since there is a lack of knowledge on the part of the professionals and teams that work in the NICU

Anticonvulsant, sedative, anxiolytic and antidepressant activities of the essential oil of annona vepretorum in mice: involvement of GABAergic and serotonergic systems

Annona vepretorum is an endemic species of the Caatinga biome, known in Northeastern Brazil as "araticum" and/or "pinha da Caatinga". In the present study it was evaluated the neuropharmacological potential of the essential oil obtained from the leaves of Annona vepretorum, as well as of the inclusion complexes of oil obtained with cyclodextrin. Thus, were used neuropharmacological tests already consolidated in the literature like open-field, elevated plus maze, rota-rod, tail suspension test, thiopental-induced sleep test, among others. The acute treatment of essential oil (EO) has anxiolytic, sedative, antiepileptic and antidepressant effects. The anxiolytic and anticonvulsant effects seems to be related to the GABAergic system, probably in the receptor subtypes that mediate the effects of the benzodiazepines, to generate anxiolytic activity. The sedative effect seems to be involved with other signaling pathways. The antidepressant effect of EO seems to be related to its action on serotonergic receptors. It was verified that some behavioral parameters were improved with the oil complexed with beta-cyclodextrin, but this effect was not uniform for all the doses and tests used. Further studies are needed in order to use other options for drug delivery systems. Thus, the essential oil of Annona vepretorum is a promising agent with neurobiological activity and a potential target for drug discovery, since the natural products such as medicinal plants have been a source of new therapeutic proposals11110741087CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal e Nível SuperiorCNPQ - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoFACEPE - Fundação de Amparo à ciência E Tecnologia Do Estado De PernambucoFAPESP – Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa Do Estado De São Paulonão temnão temnão temnão te

Low genetic diversity of the Human T-cell Lymphotropic Virus (HTLV-1) in an endemic area of the Brazilian Amazon basin

<div><p>The Human T-cell Lymphotropic Virus (HTLV-1) is a <i>Deltaretrovírus</i> that was first isolated in the 1970s, and associated with Adult T-cell Leucemia-Lymphoma (ATLL), and subsequently to Tropical Spastic Paraparesis-Myelopathy (TSP/HAM). The genetic diversity of the virus varies among geographic regions, although its mutation rate is very low (approximately 1% per thousand years) in comparison with other viruses. The present study determined the genetic diversity of HTLV-1 in the metropolitan region of Belém, in northern Brazil. Blood samples were obtained from patients at the UFPA Tropical Medicine Nucleus between January 2010 and December 2013. The DNA was extracted and the PX region of the HTLV was amplified using nested PCR. The positive samples were then digested using the Taq1 enzyme for the identification and differentiation of the HTLV-1 and HTLV-2. The 5’LTR region of the positive HTLV-1 samples were amplified by nested PCR, and then sequenced genetically. The phylogenetic analysis of the samples was based on the maximum likelihood method and the evolutionary profile was analyzed by the Bayesian approach. Overall, 78 samples tested positive for HTLV-1, and 44 were analyzed here. The aA (cosmopolitan-transcontinental) subtype was recorded in all the samples. The following evolutionary rates were recorded for the different subtypes–a: 2.10−3, b: 2.69. 10−2, c: 6.23. 10−2, d: 3.08. 10−2, e: 6. 10−2, f: 1.78. 10−3, g: 2.2. 10−2 mutations per site per year. The positive HTLV-1 samples tested in the present study were characterized by their low genetic diversity and high degree of stability.</p></div
