Semiclassical Analysis of the Supershell Effect in Reflection-Asymmetric Superdeformed Oscillator
An oscillatory pattern in the smoothed quantum spectrum, which is unique for
single-particle motions in a reflection-asymmetric superdeformed oscillator
potential, is investigated by means of the semiclassical theory of shell
structure. Clear correspondence between the oscillating components of the
smoothed level density and the classical periodic orbits is found. It is shown
that an interference effect between two families of the short periodic orbits,
called supershell effect, develops with increasing reflection-asymmetric
deformations. Possible origins of this enhancement phenomena as well as quantum
signatures of period-multipling bifurcations are discussed in connection with
stabilities of the classical periodic orbits.Comment: 27 pages, REVTeX, 12 postscript figures are available from the author

Periodic Orbits and Deformed Shell Structure
Relationship between quantum shell structure and classical periodic orbits is
briefly reviewed on the basis of semi-classical trace formula. Using the
spheroidal cavity model, it is shown that three-dimensional periodic orbits,
which are born out of bifurcation of planar orbits at large prolate
deformations, generate the superdeformed shell structure.Comment: 8 pages including 8 figures, Talk at the Conference on Frontiers of

Adiabatic Selfconsistent Collective Coordinate Method for Large Amplitude Collective Motion in Superconducting Nuclei
An adiabatic approximation to the selfconsistent collective coordinate method
is formulated in order to describe large amplitude collective motions in
superconducting nuclei on the basis of the time-dependent
Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov equations of motion. The basic equations are presented
in a local harmonic form which can be solved in a similar way as the
quasiparticle RPA equations. The formalism guarantees the conservation of
nucleon number expectation values. An extension to the multi-dimensional case
is also discussed
Periodic-Orbit Bifurcation and Shell Structure in Reflection-Asymmetric Deformed Cavity
Shell structure of the single-particle spectrum for reflection-asymmetric
deformed cavity is investigated. Remarkable shell structure emerges for certain
combinations of quadrupole and octupole deformations. Semiclassical
periodic-orbit analysis indicates that bifurcation of equatorial orbits plays
an important role in the formation of this new shell structure.Comment: 5 pages, latex including 5 postscript figures, submitted to Physics

Mean-field approach to superdeformed high-spin states in 40Ca and neutron-rich 50S regions
With the use of the symmetry-unrestricted cranked SHF method in the 3D
coordinate-mesh representation, a systematic search for the SD and HD
rotational bands in the N=Z nuclei from 32S to 48Cr has been done, and SD and
HD solutions have been found in 32S, 36Ar, 40Ca, 44Ti, and in 36Ar, 40Ca, 44Ti,
48Cr, respectively. The SD band in 40Ca is found to be extremely soft against
both the axially symmetric (Y30) and asymmetric (Y31) octupole deformations.
Possible presense of SD states in neutron-rich sulfur isotopes from 46S to 52S
has also been investigated, and deformation properties of neutron skins both in
the ground and SD states are discussed.Comment: 10 pages including 9 ps figures, Talk at International Symposium on

Application of the Adiabatic Selfconsistent-Collective-Coordinate Method to a Solvable Model of Prolate-Oblate Shape Coexistence
The adiabatic selfconsistent collective coordinate method is applied to an
exactly solvable multi-O(4) model which simulates nuclear shape coexistence
phenomena. Collective mass and dynamics of large amplitude collective motions
in this model system are analysed, and it is shown that the method can well
describe the tunneling motions through the barrier between the prolate and
oblate local minima in the collective potential. Emergence of the doublet
pattern is well reproduced.Comment: 25 pages including 9 figure
