    FORMS OF COOPERATION WITH THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT IN THE PROCESS OF TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT

    Abstract Technology entrepreneurship is becoming one of the solutions resulting in increased innovativeness and competitiveness of enterprises in the conditions of the so called "new economy". It is the process of transformation of an idea into innovation, and it covers the conversion of scientific knowledge into products and services aimed directly at the commercial market. At its basis lies the effective cooperation between the research centres, capital market institutions and business support institutions as well as enterprises. Hence an essential challenge faced by the business entities is the development of appropriate relationships and forms of cooperation with the elements of the business environment, allowing for the efforts of the commercial as well as science and technology spheres to be directed at the creation of innovation with the use of market opportunities and the potential of the dynamic business environment. Therefore the aim of this paper has been set to draw attention to the importance of shaping of appropriate forms of cooperation with the business environment in the process of technology entrepreneurship development.     The aim of the paper is to present an overview of the theoretical basis and stages of the process of opportunities exploration and exploitation in the development of innovativeness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and its preliminary empirical verification on the basis of experience derived from economic practice. The aim of the paper is realized based on the author’s own empirical research carried out in the form of a case study conducted among 5 innovative SME companies in Poland. The results indicate that the analyzed companies associate opportunities directly with entrepreneurship and the development of innovative activity. They take various actions that are part of theoretical principles of effective opportunities exploration and exploitation, which allows them to obtain a number of pro-innovative benefits and which supports the creation of competitive advantage

    Technology entrepreneurship focuses on transforming research and scientific potential into innovative goods and services. It is an interesting proposition for small and medium-sized enterprises planning to improve the competitive position based on advanced technology. Its use in economic practice faces certain limitations, arising both from the specifics of that category of entities and the external conditions of their operation. This article aims to identify and analyze of the incidence of barriers to technology entrepreneurship and to assess the impact of these negative factors on the development and benefits of using this concept in the SME sector companies. The survey conducted on a sample of 300 small and medium-sized enterprises from the region of Lodz aims at achieving the objective of the paper. The results allowed to determine the impact of selected barriers (considered by generic criterion and the direction of impact) on the level of development of technology entrepreneurship

    Servitization as a Concept for Managing the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

    The aim of the article is to present the key features, stages, advantages and threats of servitization as a concept for managing the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. A literature review and empirical research carried out in the form of a case study of the medium-sized company Mikomax sp. z o.o. from Poland served to achieve the aim of the article. The obtained results indicate a significant role of servitization in the development of the analyzed company. A phased approach to the implementation of this concept has been identified, requiring a number of changes to be made in the management systems of the enterprise. Servitization is a source of strategic, marketing and financial benefits for the company, and the management plans to further develop servitization activities aimed at expanding its market offer and building a sustainable competitive advantage.Jako cel artykułu wyznaczono przedstawienie kluczowych cech, etapów, zalet i zagrożeń serwicyzacji jako koncepcji zarządzania rozwojem małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw. Realizacji celu pracy poświęcono przegląd literatury oraz własne badania empiryczne przeprowadzone w formie studium przypadku firmy średniej wielkości Mikomax sp. z o.o. z Polski. Uzyskane wyniki wykazały istotną rolę serwicyacji w rozwoju badanej firmy. Zidentyfikowano etapowe podejście do wdrażania tej koncepcji, wymagające przeprowadzenia szeregu zmian w systemach zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem.
