Incommensurate Matrix Product State for Quantum Spin Systems
We introduce a matrix product state (MPS) with an incommensurate periodicity
by applying the spin-rotation operator of each site to a uniform MPS in the
thermodynamic limit. The spin rotations decrease the variational energy with
accompanying translational symmetry breaking and the rotational symmetry
breaking in the spin space even if the Hamiltonian has the both symmetries. The
optimized pitch of rotational operator reflects the commensurate/incommensurate
properties of spin-spin correlation functions in the Heisenberg chain
and the ferro-antiferro zigzag chain.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Electrothermal flow in Dielectrophoresis of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
We theoretically investigate the impact of the electrothermal flow on the
dielectrophoretic separation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT). The
electrothermal flow is observed to control the motions of semiconducting SWNTs
in a sizeable domain near the electrodes under typical experimental conditions,
therefore helping the dielectrophoretic force to attract semiconducting SWNTs
in a broader range. Moreover, with the increase of the surfactant
concentration, the electrothermal flow is enhanced, and with the change of
frequency, the pattern of the electrothermal flow changes. It is shown that
under some typical experimental conditions of dielectrophoresis separation of
SWNTs, the electrothermal flow is a dominating factor in determining the motion
of SWNTs.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, Submitted to PR
An inclusion result for dagger closure in certain section rings of abelian varieties
We prove an inclusion result for graded dagger closure for primary ideals in
symmetric section rings of abelian varieties over an algebraically closed field

Theorems on ground-state phase transitions in Kohn-Sham models given by the Coulomb density functional
Some theorems on derivatives of the Coulomb density functional with respect
to the coupling constant are given. Consider an electron density
given by a ground state. A model Fermion system with the
reduced coupling constant, , is defined to reproduce and the ground state energy. Fixing the charge density, possible phase
transitions as level crossings detected in a value of the reduced density
functional happen only at discrete points along the axis. If the
density is -representable also for , accumulation of phase
transition points is forbidden when . Relevance of the
theorems for the multi-reference density functional theory is discussed.Comment: 19 page
Quantum Molecular Dynamics Approach to the Nuclear Matter Below the Saturation Density
Quantum molecular dynamics is applied to study the ground state properties of
nuclear matter at subsaturation densities. Clustering effects are observed as
to soften the equation of state at these densities. The structure of nuclear
matter at subsaturation density shows some exotic shapes with variation of the
density.Comment: 21 pages of Latex (revtex), 9 Postscript figure
The low-temperature energy calibration system for the CUORE bolometer array
The CUORE experiment will search for neutrinoless double beta decay (0nDBD)
of 130Te using an array of 988 TeO_2 bolometers operated at 10 mK in the
Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (Italy). The detector is housed in a large
cryogen-free cryostat cooled by pulse tubes and a high-power dilution
refrigerator. The TeO_2 bolometers measure the event energies, and a precise
and reliable energy calibration is critical for the successful identification
of candidate 0nDBD and background events. The detector calibration system under
development is based on the insertion of 12 gamma-sources that are able to move
under their own weight through a set of guide tubes that route them from
deployment boxes on the 300K flange down into position in the detector region
inside the cryostat. The CUORE experiment poses stringent requirements on the
maximum heat load on the cryostat, material radiopurity, contamination risk and
the ability to fully retract the sources during normal data taking. Together
with the integration into a unique cryostat, this requires careful design and
unconventional solutions. We present the design, challenges, and expected
performance of this low-temperature energy calibration system.Comment: To be published in the proceedings of the 13th International Workshop

Magnetization plateaux of S = 1/2 two-dimensional frustrated antiferromagnet CsCuBr
The field induced magnetic phase transitions of CsCuBr were
investigated by means of magnetization process and neutron scattering
experiments. This system undergoes magnetic phase transition at Ne\'{e}l
temperature K at zero field, and exhibits the magnetization
plateau at approximately one third of the saturation magnetization for the
field directions and . In the present study,
additional symptom of the two-third magnetization plateau was found in the
field derivative of the magnetization process. The magnetic structure was found
to be incommensurate with the ordering vector at
zero field. With increasing magnetic field parallel to the c-axis, the ordering
vector increases continuously and is locked at
in the plateau field range . This
indicates that the collinear \textit{up-up-down} spin structure is stabilized
by quantum fluctuation at the magnetization plateau.Comment: 6 pages, 4 Postscript figures, uses iopams.sty and IOPART.CL
Thermodynamical Cost of Accessing Quantum Information
Thermodynamics is a macroscopic physical theory whose two very general laws
are independent of any underlying dynamical laws and structures. Nevertheless,
its generality enables us to understand a broad spectrum of phenomena in
physics, information science and biology. Recently, it has been realised that
information storage and processing based on quantum mechanics can be much more
efficient than their classical counterpart. What general bound on storage of
quantum information does thermodynamics imply? We show that thermodynamics
implies a weaker bound than the quantum mechanical one (the Holevo bound). In
other words, if any post-quantum physics should allow more information storage
it could still be under the umbrella of thermodynamics.Comment: 3 figure
An Improved Quantum Molecular Dynamics Model and its Applications to Fusion Reaction near Barrier
An improved Quantum Molecular Dynamics model is proposed. By using this
model, the properties of ground state of nuclei from Li to Pb can
be described very well with one set of parameters. The fusion reactions for
Ca+Zr, Ca+Zr and Ca+Zr at energy near
barrier are studied by this model. The experimental data of the fusion cross
sections for Ca+Zr at the energy near barrier can be
reproduced remarkably well without introducing any new parameters. The
mechanism for the enhancement of fusion probability for fusion reactions with
neutron-rich projectile or target is analyzed.Comment: 20 pages, 12 figures, 3 table
