Pós-graduação em Saúde Coletiva de 1997 a 2007: desafios, avanços e tendências Post-graduation in Public Health from 1997 to 2007: challenges, advances and tendencies

Este artigo abre um debate sobre o desempenho da pós-graduação em Saúde Coletiva nos últimos doze anos. Ele tem por base vasta pesquisa avaliativa realizada por um grupo de pesquisadores da área, através de um projeto financiado pelo CNPQ, durante os anos 2008-2009. Tal proposta dá sequência a outro estudo do mesmo teor ocorrido entre 1994-1997 e o toma para comparação. A investigação de 2008-2009 analisou a construção do campo, a demanda, os egressos, o perfil do corpo docente, a produção científica e a internacionalização da área sob a perspectiva dos atores, da cultura e das várias formas de expressão acadêmica e das tendências. Houve trabalho de campo e utilização de fontes secundárias, sobretudo, dos Cadernos CAPES. O estudo mostrou um campo em crescente estruturação e pujante do ponto de vista da demanda, do número de mestres e doutores titulados, da adequação dos conteúdos e do quadro docente e da produção científica. Dentre os problemas persistem: concentração dos programas na região sudeste, desigualdade na qualidade, problemas de absorção dos titulados e errático investimento em cooperação internacional. Constatou-se que a pós-graduação em Saúde Coletiva está cada vez mais orientada para o aprimoramento do SUS.<br>This article debates the performance of the Collective Health Post-Graduation in the last 12 years. It is based on a wide evaluative research performed by a group of researches of the area, through a project financed by CNPq, during the years of 2008-2009. This proposal is a sequence of another study with the same importance that occurred among the years of 1994-1997 taking it in comparison. The investigation realized in 2008-2009 analyzed the field construction, the demand, and the alumnus, the teaching staff profile, the scientific production and the internationalization of the area. There was field work and the utilization of secondary sources, mainly from Cadernos CAPES. The study showed a field that is in growing organization and powerful on the point of view of the demand, the number of masters and PhDs being titled, the content adequacy and the teaching staff as well as the scientific production. Among the persistent problems are: the high concentration of programs in the southeast region, the difference in quality among them, the difficult to absorption of the number of titled and the erratic investment in international cooperation.
